    Hello everyone

I'm off to LV in a month and although I'm getting good deals on flights and accommodation, where I'm lacking is advice re: eating out cheaply.

Can someone give me the run down on where to get the best deals, discount vouchers etc?

FYI - there are 4 of us (2 kids) and were are spending 4 days at the Tropicana and probably the rest of the week in one of the family friendly hotels.

    I've joined r.com too.

    Thanks in advance.

We think the Spice Market is garbage compared to a lot of buffets and that is based on several recent visits. We kept going back thinking they were having a bad day. Both the food and the service were disappointing on our last visit.

Good buffets, based mainly on breakfast, are Bellagio, Wynn, Mirage and MGM. Someone on here didn't like the MGM and we felt the same a few years ago, but the past couple of years it has been spot on whenever we've tried it.

The Aria was very good when it opened last year, but not so good this year. Cosmopolitan was OK, but not as great as I had read it was.

The Harley-Davidson Cafe was very good when we were there in May, much better than our previous visit, but that may have been down to our food choice. The previous time we had steaks and I think steaks are best left to a steakhouse.

There is a food court upstairs at Showcase Mall, just up from the MGM so not far from the Tropicana, which has a Panda Express, Wendy's, Subway and a few other places. It's open 24 hours.

Spice Market best buffett by a mile!

Recommend Hooters Hotel ....very very cheap...Bud at $1.50...fine for couples...just done it....close to the strip 5 mins walk why spend all your money on the hotel when you goto vegas for the casinos and nightlife...you only sleep there!!!

Msg me for any tips on clubs etc..just spent 10 days there and did the first 7 days without drawing out ANY money!!!

    its easy!

    REally??

The spice market buffet used to be good (but never the best IMO), there are loads of $5 off vouchers for it though so that of course makes it better, but most reviews of it have being going downwards for a while.

As for Hooters, cant believe anyone would choose to stay there, gambling in the casino for an hour was enough for me!

    Have you read page 1?

    Lots of info there.

The ACG book and the LVA are both full of money off coupons, but you do have to buy the books, all info on page 1

    Geez,
This fascination for buffets. Never found one that I would go to in preference to a nice sit down meal at a restaurant for the same money. Warm mass produced slop is the best way I would describe it. And although some of the ones off strip are cheap enough to try, I would never bother getting the car out go to one. Sorry but you can't beat having a waiter attending to you and have a meal cooked to order presented to you piping hot.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

On the subject of buffets, just back from Wicked Spoon at The Cosmopolitan. And oh my, what an amazing experience. Anyone who didn't enjoy it must have got out on the wrong side of bed!
Not the cheapest at $35pp, but the quality of food and and the attention detail on every single dish is quite incredible.

I agree with Stoneman to a certain extent, I wouldn't want to eat at buffets all the time, but we'll do a dinner and a breakfast buffet during our stay, and the Wicked Spoon dinner was fantastic. Most definitely not mass produced slop ;-)

i know, i was there!! saturday was about the hottest i have experienced in vegas. And as for the forecasters saying it was cooling down I certainly didnt see that on TV, maybe Fox news in middle earth has a different weather forecaster? The only 'cooling' we experienced was 1 day last week when it dropped to a chilly 98f but for the holiday weekend they were predicting 108-110f

And as for the storms, read back a few posts and see what was posted about the massive thunderstorm sunday evening.

I hava a completely opposite view to you regarding the MGM and PH buffets. Although this is based on visiting them last year and not in 2011. Spice market was fantastic, lovely food. Whereas the MGM was awful, to the point we actually raised a complaint.

This year the only buffet we had was at golden nugget, and that was purely down to convenience. We were up early due to jetlag and just couldnt be arsed to go out for breakfast. It was ok, the omlettes were very nice and the rest of the food available was ok.

On the subject of food im going to sing the praises of somewhere I dont even think registers on most peoples radar here. The Monte Carlo doesnt seem to get much comment on here. We've never stayed there or spent much time in the casino but we popped in last week as we had a drink voucher at Brand, the steakhouse. We decided to have a meal there and was really impressed with the quality of food. Both had steak, i had the prime rib, cant remember what doris had. We both really enjoyed the meal, and service. The steak was excellent, not the best Ive ever had, but Ive paid a lot more in some places and had a lot worse.

We had a meal in craftsteak last year and it cost us about $350, in Brand it cost us $150 both were fantastic, but for the price Brand wins hands down.

Also ate in Pearl, the chinese restaurant in the MGM Grand, absolutely fantastic food, and again great value. Our bill was $200 in the end, and that was down to doris ordering a bottle of champagne which took up half of the bill. Have plenty of pics that I havent yet uplaoded but when I do I'll post them on here
