Pay whichever way is the cheapest, for us it is usually direct with the hotel and just paying one nights deposit which is fully refundable, if you go that route make sure you use the right CC, ie Post Office, Halifax Clarity or one other, I think it Santander Zero!?

But just recently some of the third party bookers have been cheaper.

Have you emailed the contact that Stoneman posted, thats probably your best bet

We've got a FairFX master card so I thought about using that to do a deposit. As it is I've just checked again and expedia was cheaper so I've just booked through them (easier on my finances tbh this way)
I'll send an email now :)

    Hi all,

Not sure if anyone will remember but I posted on the 2010 thread regarding a first trip to Vegas with my father.

Unfortunately due to some major family commitments, the trip planned for April never happened.

Anyone, now has come the time where we have an opportunity to go, and I just wanted to run through a few things.

The flight prices seemed to have dramatically risen since my last searches last year, but like everything else I suppose that is to be expected.

Firstly we have decided to fly direct from Manchester with Virgin. We have searched around, finding the flights for £1300.00. This gives us 11 days in Vegas at the end of August/ beginning of September. (Leaving Manchester on the 29th August, leaving Vegas on the 9th September, getting back into the UK on the 10th of September).

We have also decided to split the 11 nights between two hotels. We will spend the first 6 nights in the Flamingo (GO room), for a cost of $395.00. Leaving the Flamingo, we will spend the remaining 5 nights in the Cosmopolitan (City room), for the cost of $1020.

The above incorporates two hotel offers. 20% at the Flamingo, and a night free at the Cosmo.
We plan to mix things up from gambling, shows, shooting ranges, shopping, a Grand Canyon visit and hopefully eating some good food.

I just want to run through what else I need to do.

We both have valid ESTA's, my fathers passport is currently being renewed and we both have the time available to us!

I know I need to research vouchers/coupons in further detail, but is there anything major I have forgotten?

    Thanks in advance,

    dannodw.
    Hi
You should be able to get Cosmopolitan for less if you're prepared to do a bit of digging-it's under Marriott umbrella which has a price match less 25% policy. So you could get marriott to price match for example against lowcostusa at £533 bringing 5 nights down to £400 for a Cityroom. Also, you can get the Go Room for £150-160 odd if you shop around.

Don't know for certain but think the ESTA is tied to the passport, new passport new ESTA?

That is indeed the case. The ESTA is tied to the passport number specifically.

in the middle of a pretty crazy storm at the moment (8.30pm) which has been going since about 6.30pm. some pretty impressive horizontal fork lightning and earlier some really heavy rain... we had a nice spot at Cabo Wabo looking out over the strip, then it came down heavy and eventually forced everyone inside! quite a treat to see it here really :)

and the upside was it meant retreating to the PH casinoi= for half an hour, where the OH turned $5 into $75 on one of the 1c machines :D

Your father will need a new ESTA when he gets his new passport number. The ESTA lasts for 2 years or until the pasport expires, whichever comes first.

    hello my helpfull travellers!
    2 questions:
anyone seen any offers for scoot city tours?
anyone got any experience of buying an engagment ring in vegas?

As mentioned, scoot city tours pops up on groupon now and again but even without any offers it's a really good tour and well worth the money IMO.

We've just got back from Vegas and I was talking to a couple who's son had just got back. He bought his GF a ring while they were there but because of the heat her fingers had swollen and upon returning to the UK the ring was far too big. He gave the ring to his mum to get it altered but they were having problems because the ring sizes are different between UK and US. My advice would be to find a ring that fits her and take it with you so they can alter it to suit if needed.

We had a fab time in Vegas but didn't manage to fit everything in that we had planned. The best thing though, is that the OH loved it too which means we can plan to go back!!

Incidentally, I have a r.com voucher for $100 off a $200 meal at BBKings in the Mirage if anyones interested??
