Hi everyone :) I've not dipped into this thread for a month or so and I've got a bit of catching up to do! A reasonable price for PE flights on virgin swayed me into booking for a weeks visit over New Year (flights were cheaper than they were for miles & money - !!!!!!?) so now I've got some planning to do (I love planning holidays!)!
The first thing you want to plan on is buying a good coat:D
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Are we talking full on winter woolies here? :rotfl: We went to NYC in feb and oh my gosh was that BITTERLY cold (the trip to the SOL was pretty much the coldest I've ever been ) - I'd assumed Vegas wouldn't be that bad, however we are planning a trip to the grand canyon this time so assume that will be chilly.

We stayed at the Signature last time, we loved it. But I'm thinking about perhaps trying the Platinum this time as it's more central onto the strip. Are they comparable (non-casino, no smoking, rooms with kitchen bit)? Trip advisor suggests a 10-15 min walk onto the strip but I can't be sure whether thats just a mardy american overexagerating. I've done a quick search in this thread but got distracted reading StuieUK34's trip report. I'm sure I'll find more out eventually but I'm very easily sidetracked.:j

Are there any other non-casino, no smoking, rooms with kitchen bit that I should consider? Vdara/Aria maybe?

And be sure to check out the prices for PE too if your budget can stretch a little

I'm not really bang up-to-date on Vegas hotel prices but this looks pretty reasonable:

Platinum Solitaire Suite for $109 per night including weekend nights - I think Stoneman is a big fan of this place. Isn't this one of the ones that still doesn't charge a resort fee ?

The Platinum doesn't have resort fees and they aren't on the list. Free wifi and use of the gym.
    Just saying
    :D

According to the platinum webpages wifi has a charge of $9.99 per day - what do you have to do to get it free? :)

Look into my eyes, you want an iPhone, you want an iPad!!

    Bad stoneman!

An iphone I could not care less about.

An ipad, I toy with about once a week because omg they look so awesome...but I genuinely do not think we would use it...we have a netbook that we use on holiday only...once the novelty wore off, I am pretty sure the ipad would become the new netbook for us...and that's a pretty pricey holiday netbook replacement - especially when we already have one. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    That should be interesting.

I had to laugh at the high wind warnings on our last trip. They were nothing like we have at home on a regular basis, and everyone was staying indoors and postponing things.
