JuneSatNav:
I used my iphone, as i got the rubbish 'TomTom' on it...
I turned off 3G, and Data Roaming, and location services.
Although i had to leave location services on for the TomTom part, and other bits, but location services routes through wifi if it needs to, but in terms of Satnav/GPS, it dont need data.....
So the Satnav worked the way it normally does (works for about 95%, then forgets what road its on, but that could be down to my phone being crap!)...
For the 18 days in the states, i made/received a few calls, but done lots of txts.... am on o2, but didnt enable ITS before going....
My Usage = £18
Sweeeeeeet!
oh, and i jailbroke my Iphone and downloaded the US version of TomTom.....
Either way, SatNav uses GPS, not data, so as long as u got 3G and data roaming switched off, all is cool.... do your other stuff on the free wifi0 -
OctoberOf course if you have an iphone and there are apps that serve the purpose, then that's great...some of us continue to resist the lure.
Look into my eyes, you want an iPhone, you want an iPad!!The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
AugustCo Pilot USA now downloaded (for £2.99!) onto Iphone, route and stops all entered, and apparently all working nicely. Loads more functions than Navfree which I previously looked at.
Thanks Stoneman and all!0 -

AugustJust read LVA,s reviews on Steak and shake and stripburger, reposted here for those that dont get LVA newsletter
Reviews Steak & Shake (South Point)—A lot of people are really passionate about this place. Our sports-betting man Fezzik, for example, calls it the “best restaurant in Las Vegas.” We don’t think it’s even the best in South Point, but it’s pretty good. It’s a sit-down restaurant where there’s often a line to get in. You’ll pick up on Steak & Shake’s Midwest origins via little touches like the seasonings (including clear pepper sauce) on the tables and the diner atmosphere. Prices are cheap, as well as a bit strange—a single burger with fries is $3.45, while a double or a triple is $3.99. That’s just 54¢ extra for one or two more patties. Basic strategy: order a triple. Fans of the hard-to-find 3-way and 5-way chili (spaghetti added) can get their fix here, and the menu also includes sandwiches, melts, and hot dogs with crazy toppings (slaw, guacamole, etc.). We tried a side of chili ($1.45) and it’s reminiscent of the Detroit Coney Island version. As for the burgers, they call them “steakburgers,” but they’re just regular hamburgers—the patties aren’t huge, so a triple is manageable. And the shakes are in the restaurant’s name for a reason. Be sure to get one. Service was pretty brutal, but all was forgiven when we saw the check: $26.78 for three.
Stripburger—Here you’ll get a bigger burger at a bigger price. We first checked out this burger bar on the southwest corner of the Strip and Spring Mountain Rd. in September 2007. We liked it then and we like it now, even if the burgers cost a dollar more, starting at $9.95. This is one of the better outdoor dining venues on the Strip0 -
Hi everyone
I've not dipped into this thread for a month or so and I've got a bit of catching up to do! A reasonable price for PE flights on virgin swayed me into booking for a weeks visit over New Year (flights were cheaper than they were for miles & money - !!!!!!?) so now I've got some planning to do (I love planning holidays!)!

Just booked Green Valley Ranch 2 nights on tuesday and wednesday next week, works out about the same price as a premier inn. Went to see what this place is like yesterday, seems really nice, was going to book the Red rock but was no availability for our last 2 days here.
Fantastic money saving, thanks Photome, could do with 2 threads one for pure money saving and another for the touristy stuff, easy for little gems like this to get missed.0
