Not great but cheap. Nugget is quite a schlep to the main strip, whereas IP is great position.

People always try to make false economies with Vegas for no good reason - eg you can get say MGM or Monte Carlo or NYNY or Ballys for double the cost of IP or Nugget, but its still only maybe £40 a night.....you can barely get a single bed in a manky Travelodge with a minging shower curtain and a 14in telly for that over here.

We are planning on booking our holiday/wedding asap. We like the look of The Luxor, anyone stayed before?

Also we want to get married out there too, just us going, can anyone recommend any wedding chapels.

    Thanks x

Luxor isnt that special, and its right down south of the strip meaning will take time (walk, car, tram, bus) to get anywhere. Ive also found it rather dark inside as well. Its not that expensive though.

Has anyone ever stayed at or got anything to say about the Golden Nugget or Imperial Palace?

if it's your first Visit to Vegas , try and stay on the Strip . i like the Golden Nugget as a place , but it tends to cost as much as some strip hotels .

like Froggit says : False Economies . you will spend a time and money getting to the strip if you stay there . Downtown won't hold your attention beyond a few nights

    Hi,

I have never stayed in Imperial Palace but have been in it and compared to other hotels on the strip it is a bit dingy and dumpy...although if I was on a really tight budget I may consider it...
With the deals going these deal though you can get Excalibur for around the same price and I would defo go with Excalibur over Imperial Palace :)

The Golden Nugget is Downtown. We have stayed there twice. It is the nicest hotel DT by a long way IMHO. The new Rush tower rooms are very nice indeed.

Imperial Palace is getting a bit run down these days, but the location is my favourite. The Deluxe rooms are OK, and there is a hash House a Go Go in there now. The lifts are VERY slow.

I sort of stayed at Imperial Palace....we were staying at the Flamingo and had a late night flight so we switched on the last day to IP for about $15 even though we didn't need it beyond 10pm-was somewhere to stick the cases and shower basically. They let us check in at 8am which was great - I went and checked us in then went back and packed at the Flamingo and walked along the Strip with the case. (The reason we had an overnight flight was because after a schedule change we played with the fligts-flew overnight to New York-hopped on the airtrain into Manhattan for the day -then caught an evening flight home-it was a tiring day but great fun. )

It's a great location -I'm always lucky in their casino and there's some reasonable food choices. The rooms are tired -pretty much motel style rooms-bit like Travelodge over here. If the budget is really tight it's OK but honestly for the small amount extra it's better staying elsewhere.

I'd certainly put it above say Strat or CircusCircus overall (although the Strat has nice rooms -it's just too far off mid Strip for me).

Golden Nugget has a really nice pool area and rooms but unless you WANT to spend all your time at Fremont Street (and some people prefer it for the rowdier/rougher old Vegas feel) it really is much too far . Not for a first visit IMO.

If you want to keep prices down then look at the Orleans -it's off Strip but has a FREE very regular shuttle takes 10 mins and drops you at Bill's right in the centre of the Strip. Their casino is really nice and food is really good value and their rooms are huge and clean. The Gold Coast is also worth looking at-same shuttle deal but has the advantage you can walk to Rio or Palms from the hotel . It's one of my favourite hotels for value I've stayed there several times.

Thanks for all the replies.....we are really looking at the MGM and Mandalay bay but have been looking on lowcostusa (another great find from this forum) and found what look like great deals on those 2 hotels which are hard to ignore.

    imperial palace - £208 or £229 for 7 nights
    nugget - £337 or £365 for 7 nights.

MGM is a couple of hundred more and Mandalay more again.....although we would like a bit more luxury and a nice pool is a must for me.

Yes this is our first trip and we will have a car if that makes any difference.

We are also considering spending 3 nights in 1 hotel and 4 in another...is thata good idea or better to stay in one location?

Just a quick one... going to Vegas for a wedding in April 2011, whats the policy on buggies/pushchairs/strollers and also children in general?

Have been reading that the Wynn does not accept strollers at all, any other places as strict?

Asking on behalf of the bride and groom to-be who have a 2yr old and 6yr old, and another couple who have a 1yr old and 5yr old.
