I am loving this thread, have had a look through some of the pages but not all 100+ so am looking for a bit of expert guidance on what would be best for me.

I am thinking of heading off to Vegas with a friend for a girls holiday of drinking, gambling, glamour etc. It will just be the 2 of us, neither of us have children, we won't be driving so want something near the action, not child friendly and something that will give the true flavour of Vegas.

My friend loves living a rich lifestyle, I can much less afford to do this so I am looking for a happy medium. I can't cope with too much heat as I am very fair so not planning to go at an 'eyeball melting' (to quote someone on this thread) time of year. Is late september October starting to cool down a bit?

Any ideas for hotels and I can start the bargain hunting?

Thanks for all the info luci, hope you're having a fab time, could you tell me if there's a hair-dryer (less weight in my suitcase!!)lol. And can you tell me how much the resort fee is please? Have heard a few different prices, would like to let everyone know about little extra's to pay. Been trying to find out if there's any Headliners at MGM from 25 Sept-29th sept, would like to see David Copperfield and wondering where would be best place to book, here or Vegas when we arrive? But also hoping for a Head-liner. TIA

Yes there is a hairdryer and an iron and ironing board.

The resort fee is $18 + tax so $20.16. It includes free wireless internet access, a $15 beverage credit per stay, although we got two, and free local and 800 calls.

When I booked back in October, the resort fee was only $10 so I mentioned this to the check in clerk to see if I could get it at that rate. I didn't expect to as the T&C's said the new rate was for "stays" after a certain date not bookings.

She asked if I had a copy of my confirmation, which I had. (This is the first time I've ever needed it).

She then spoke to her manager and came back and said I would get it at $10. :)

Mandalay bay is as far south as you want to go . Mandalay bay is quitter area but don't let that put you off,

My friend loves living a rich lifestyle, I can much less afford to do this so I am looking for a happy medium. see what you can afford . good deal for places like Encore , Wynn , do come up . post here for some advice about a specific hotel. see post 1 for which hotels to be careful about

Is late september October starting to cool down a bit? Should do , http://www.lvol.com/lvoleg/hist/weather.html. although unless you plan on long periods outdoors be aware pretty much everything is Air conditioned

Any ideas for hotels and I can start the bargain hunting?
My advice don't focus in a particular hotel , see what is coming as a good price and post here for opinions on the deal

The forecast was for a 40% chance of rain today.

We were at the Outlets (again) this morning and boy did it rain. It was hammering down and there was thunder. Didn't affect us as we were in a shop buying a ton of stuff and it was off by the time we came out.

Got back and there was a severe weather warning for NE Clark County - high winds up to 60mph, heavy rain and quarter size hailstones. They were warning people to stay indoors until the storm passed.

There was a shower when we got back to the strip and I think it was the Mesquite area that was worst affected.

A correction to my earlier post about the Early Bird discount at the MGM buffet.

The discount is only for the weekend brunch, not during the week.

I can live with that :D

Just doing a final re-pack -I honestly haven't a clue what to take as the Idaho weather is "variable" and Vegas seems to be following suit . The downside of hand baggage only -you can't just throw everything in ! :rotfl:

See you at the bar Luci !

Yep. Have a safe flight and see you tomorrow night all being well.

They were stopping flights landing at LAS yesterday and today because of the wind, but they were delayed rather than cancelled.
