They are still using TI for pickups, we have a june reservation to pick up at TI and drop off at the airport on our way home.

BTW, it is EXTREMELY windy here today. I'm sat by the window in our Rio room and can feel the wind getting through the ventilation strip which is closed.

The Dollar location at Circus Circus where we picked our car up from was heaving. Mind you, the bloke was in a foul mood and treated us like filth. The fact I won't see him next time doesn't upset me!

Got back last month from an awesome trip!

Stayed at the Stratosphere, used Ritz transportation to get there...very cheap and reliable! Plus being the last hotel stop we saw the strip bit by bit before we checked in!

Nice that there was an Ihop just across the road from the Stratosphere, so breakfast at 7am saw us through to teatime!

Found Groupon to be really useful....six of us did a flight over the Hoover Dam for $75 each, and they gave us the plane to ourselves! That included pickup and drop off which was nice!

Hadn't been to Vegas in five years before our trip, and I have now have fresh memories of standing out in the evening in Henderson with the still air and heat around you whilst you hear the traffic....one of my favourite experiences in the world!

Already planning to go back next year, hooray for overtime!

Its Caesars, thanks for the advice, this isnt something we had thought about until someone mentioned it just now... has anyone stayed here - do they allow non charging to rooms? TIA

Incidental Deposit for Caesars Palace, Rio and Planet Hollywood - Required

For incidental charging to the room, a $100 per day credit card deposit will be taken in addition to your entire room/tax for the stay (no cash deposits for incidental charging). Alternatively, a one time $200 flat fee of cash or credit card may be given, however, to allow only phone and movie privileges. At check-out, whatever amount that is not utilized towards incidentals will be refunded to the guest (via credit card used or cash, however applicable).

Alternatively means that we can hand over $200 cash and thats it for the week? :)

Can I please ask if anyone as stayed at MGM, we go Sept and have tower rooms, but was wondering if I could ask where would the best rooms be for a good view of the strip, don't think we can get away with the $20 dollar tip, but hoping politeness might be appreciated. There's 10 of us in 5 rooms and we'd like to be close together.
Thanks to everyone here you are a total mine of information :)

As already said, the MGM is one of the worst hotels to try the $20 tip. Apparently the staff are not allowed to accept it and I have never tried it there.

Getting 5 rooms together may be a problem.

We are at the MGM at the moment in a Grand Tower room on the 24th floor of 29. For once the room was ready when we checked in even though it is a very busy fight weekend. We were in the room 30 mins after leaving the room at Harrah's.

We were just polite and friendly to the check in clerk. She said we had a good view and she wasn't kidding. We have a great view all the way from NYNY to PH Westgate and can even see the Bellagio fountains.

We have always been lucky with the view at MGM and we have stayed here several times.

We have just been to the Centrifuge bar trying to use our $15 beverage credit. We ordered a cocktail and a beer and I had the money ready to pay. We sat at the bar and started playing video poker. When I asked the barman how much it was he said it was complimentary as we were playing.

Now I have read that some places such as Wynn have stopped comping drinks at the bar and some required that you play max bet, but we weren't.

Can somebody clear up this little query for me please.
We are staying at Wynn next month for the first time - its a competition win so I think we are booked in a basic/resort room. Not complaining but I read somewhere on here (and struggling to find it now) that the basic rooms are lower down and you can hear the nightclub at certain times.
I don't know if I read it right tbh but if that's the case, does a $20 trick work to get a upgrade? I'd rather be higher up away from all that (plus I'd like a good view)
    Thankyou kindly ;)

We haven't stayed at Wynn, but have stayed at the Encore a couple of times.

I was concerned about the noise from the nightclub the first time and asked for a quiet room way from the noise. We got a room on the 63rd floor facing north at the far end of the corridor which was the furthest way room possible.

The next time I asked for a room on a high floor facing south and we got one with a great view. No $20 tip needed.

MGM/Mirage properties are removing all the Dollar locations and replacing them with AVIS. I have to say, we have always liked dealing with Dollar, so will be sad to see them go. 25 redundancies are expected.

Remember MGM sold TI so thats maybe why its staying open there.

For those that were asking about the hold a hotel puts on the credit card at check in, I can confirm the following:-

The hotel does indeed put a hold per day times the number of days onto the card and it doesn't become available again for 5-10 days.

I have been checking my credit card balance online as I have made a couple of cash withdrawals on the card and paying them back immediately from another account. My balance and available credit didn't add up to my credit limit so I just called the Halifax and was told there were 2 large holds on the card.

I have never noticed before as I never checked the card I previously used online.

OK my Las Vegas trip is almost here, we fly on thursday and I'm supposed to be packing today but have just gone into panic mode
    I have no shows/trips booked.
I have a couple of friends who have been and I get them that say book and those that say theres no point as you get just as good a deal on the strip.
Not too worried about the shows but its the Grand Canyon trip I'm more concerned about re the cost.
How much is it on the strip to book?
I know I can get it for around $320 for West Rim with landing and champagne but can I get it for around the same price when I'm there?
Can't wait....first time for us and we're stopping in the Cosmopolitan :D
