Can I please ask if anyone as stayed at MGM, we go Sept and have tower rooms, but was wondering if I could ask where would the best rooms be for a good view of the strip, don't think we can get away with the $20 dollar tip, but hoping politeness might be appreciated. There's 10 of us in 5 rooms and we'd like to be close together.
Thanks to everyone here you are a total mine of information :)

  • Re dollar - that might explain why car hire 3000 only list the airport as a pick up/drop off location invegas for us when i searched online for june.

Mgm grand upgrade - when i was there they wasnt interested. When i enquired last the woman said no upgrades were available but for $200 a night we could have a bungalow suit

Definitely an MGM decision as far as the Dollar rep said. She has plenty of seniority, so will not be losing her job just yet, her words.

They are still using TI for pickups, we have a june reservation to pick up at TI and drop off at the airport on our way home.

BTW, it is EXTREMELY windy here today. I'm sat by the window in our Rio room and can feel the wind getting through the ventilation strip which is closed.

June! How much longer are you there, pebbles? As always I am so jealous of your long trips - I know we discussed once how it must be nice to have days in Vegas you can just opt to relax and do very little...we always seem to be on the go during our 8-9 days...not that I'm complaining. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

MGM is the worst hotel in in my experience when it comes to asking for upgrades even with a tip.

I have stayed there 3 times, never been upgraded and twice they havent even had the room I requested (non smoking 2 queens). Once got a king room non smoking and the other time a 2 queen smoking. Had a decent view 2 out of the 3 times though.

Once went with a group and we needed three rooms and we ended up 2 on one floor and the other on a different floor.

They only have 5500 rooms after all!!

The standard grand tower rooms are ok, but best to ask for high floor with strip view if that is what you want and hope for the best

In summary dont hold out to much hope of getting an upgrade or having 5 rooms close together

So I shouldnt have removed from here after all.......

    Hello everyone

I have spent ages researching LV but believe I will benefit from your thoughts please.....

My wife and two boys (9 and 12) are returning to LV. We loved it two years ago - we were there in August, same as this year. We stayed off of the strip at the Cancun Resort (really great pools and nice accommodation), but visited the strip a bit and enjoyed shows and dinner and helicopter rides etc.

This year, I'd like us to stay somewhere different and would consider staying on the strip. We will stay for between 4-7 days I think.

Our priorities are high quality/comfortable accommodation; swimming pool/s; kid friendly. Not bothered about gambling. Fancy the strip but not keen on really adult-focused accommodation.

So far, on my radar are the following hotels:

    Cosmopolitan
    Bellagio
    Four Seasons

Bearing in mind our priorities, can anyone see any strengths or weaknesses with the above hotels?

    Or an alternative hotel?

    Thanks in advance.

Well, finally after goodness knows how many hours online I have booked four nights in a one bedroom premium view room with terrace at the Cosmopolitan for $680+, a good price for 4 nights I reckon (used their 4 for 3 deal).

I think I will take the advice offered and do a few nights in a more kid focused hotel too.

    How exciting!!!!

Can somebody clear up this little query for me please.
We are staying at Wynn next month for the first time - its a competition win so I think we are booked in a basic/resort room. Not complaining but I read somewhere on here (and struggling to find it now) that the basic rooms are lower down and you can hear the nightclub at certain times.
I don't know if I read it right tbh but if that's the case, does a $20 trick work to get a upgrade? I'd rather be higher up away from all that (plus I'd like a good view)
    Thankyou kindly ;)

Agree with penny that hotels normally charge even if you've pre-paid the hotel - the hold is for incidentals which wouldn't have been prepaid...which hotel? Some do allow you to decline room charging priviledges and not have the hold (it's a hold on your card, not a charge - but either way counts toward the total limit on the card)...depending on which hotel some may have experience with what options are available.

Its Caesars, thanks for the advice, this isnt something we had thought about until someone mentioned it just now... has anyone stayed here - do they allow non charging to rooms? TIA

Not an exact answer to your question, but last time we got a high floor view of the golf course with just a polite smile, so think you have a good chance :)
