    Hello all!

Looking for a bit of an opinion. Have been to Vegas a few times, but not for a few years so a bit rusty on the following issue...price of flights. Am looking to go next March for my 30th with my girlfriend. Have noticed that the virgin sale is on and they have direct flights for £538.50 from London for the time we want to go.

Am I likely to better this price in the next few months? We want to fly direct (unless it is stupidly cheaper) and I cannot for the life of me remember how much I paid when I have flown before.

    Any advice appreicated.

    Cheers

thats a reasonable price . i doubt you will knock spots off it direct or indirect .long gone are the days of £300 - £400 flights .

you risk the price shooting up if it's in the sale , and the plane fills up .

personally speaking if you are happy with the price and the dates ...my advice is to book it . then don't look back . flight booked = you are going !

We both agree ferf and said as much last night, the service on AA knocks spots off BA. I can't remener BA being that bad last time we flew to LAS with them. The free drinks isn't a deal breaker for us either as we only have 2 drinks each.

Very cool and windy this morning. It was only 49F when we left at 5.30 this morning. However it has warmed up a bit.

It's called customer service, something our country seems to be strangers with
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

39 days until I go! I can't wait. I guess I should start preparing stuff now. Few questions:

    1. Me and my friends need to sort out our ESTAs, but I believe we can do that up to 72 hours before departure?
    2. Do we need to confirm our flights with airline/do some sort of online check-in? It's been a while since my last transatlantic flight!
    3. I have my Halifax Clarity Card already so should be OK for money. Although I know all the ATMs on the Strip charge around 5 bucks per withdrawal, I'm hoping there'll be a free one at the airport where I can make a large withdrawal?
    4. This is probably going to be an overhwelming 'yes' answer, but should we arrange travel insurance?

    That's all I have for now. I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks for any help/advice

do your ESTAs now - that way if there's any issues you have time to sort them out.

what airline are you flying? Most allow you to check in online 24 hours before your departure which many of us will do.

Not all ATMs charge $5...there are cheaper ones on strip - Casino Royale, Walgreens, etc. I've never withdrawn cash at the airport but doubt it will be free.

Yes on travel insurance...we have been lucky enough never to have to claim, but too many horror stories not to take it out - and should really have had insurance once you booked. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    One week to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :j

I finally feel like I'm nearly sorted, accommodation all booked, tickets for stuff mostly booked (want to see a show, trying to persuade OH to see cirque du soleil still), travel arrangements done (going up to relatives near gatwick next saturday before our flight on sunday), just money to do this week (told halifax clarity we're going abroad, just want some cash)

Will attempt a brief TR when I get back, maybe missing out the LA side of the trip because you guys don't seem to like it :D

Even if that's right (which i don't know), do you really want to risk it? What if you get refused it for some reason, you won't have time to get a visa?
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard

would it have been a better idea to get your ESTA before you booked a flight ? . if there is a problem you are not leaving much time to sort it out .

well too late now , but you should sort your ESTA's ASAP

Do you need travel insurance ? i'm thinking this might be a troll post :( . or you are unbelievably naive . sorry if that is a tad insulting but it sounds to me like you have not done the essentials needed for this trip .

Travelling without adequate insurance to USA is like driving a car without a license IMO . there is no such thing as free health cover in the USA . bills could run into millions for something serious ...yes millions . even something minor will be a few $K . and they can pursue you back home for it . why do you think a policy that covers USA is more expensive than European one ?

travel without it, then i think you need your head examined .

A friend of a friend broke his ankle in the USA with no insurance and his parents had to remortgage their house to pay the medical bills.

I thought actually that when you booked a flight these days (it certainly does with tour operator type ones) that they have a tick box to say that if you dont go with their insurance then you will need to get your own before you travel. I sort of had the sense that travelling without insurance is illegal (or maybe I am just scared to death about going somewhere without it!)
