Wynn is a shorter walk than Encore (staying at Encore you will probably always walk through Encore then the shopping area connecting it to Wynn, then through Wynn to go south on the strip - it doesn't take that long - maybe 8-9 minutes for us - but last trip it started to get annoying when we were in and out of the room a few times the same day). It's all relative though - there's a lot of walking in Vegas pretty much anywhere you stay, and while we generally prefer mid-strip, we've stayed a few nights the last 2 trips at Encore and really enjoyed it.
I'm pretty sure that walking from Wynn to Bellagio is about the same distance as walking from MGM to Bellagio...and yet you rarely see the 'it's so far from mid-strip' comments in MGM reviews.
I'm torn on what I would want to do if I were in your shoes...I agree that mid-strip is great for a first trip, but your first trip is your honeymoon so you want it to be somewhere special. I think Bellagio is a nice hotel, but overrated...I haven't stayed at Aria or Palazzo...I think that Encore is a great property, but it's not mid-strip.
I should have said - Wynn is a shorter walk than Encore, but the rooms at Encore are all suites and we prefer them.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
AugustThank you for your reply...
I am happy with the price as have stayed strip before MB, Paris, PH and obviously paid much more but don't usually take the children!
I have visited Orleans but not stayed, thought it might be ok for the kids with the bowling and cinema. We then stay in a villa for the following 2 weeks with a car so will probably just use shuttle to get to and from strip whilst staying at Orleans.
I am just deciding whether to wait nearer the time or just book now but can't see it being much cheaper.0 -
November / DecemberI think that is a pretty good price for the Orleans.0

November / DecemberI don't think it's far, and I have a hip replacement and arthritis.Toothfairy4 wrote: »Thanks guys, think we will hold out for a while longer. How is wynn/encore in terms of location? Few people on tripadvisor saying it is quite far to walk to the centre of the strip.
This reminds me of one time we were sitting in Flamingo coffee shop. Two couples on the next table to us were discussing how to get to the Bellagio to see the conservatory. They decided to go in a taxi because it was too far to walk. Sad thing is, they probably had to walk further to the taxi pick up in Flamingo than going across the street to Bellagio.0 -

Aria - £123 per night
Bellagio - £135pn
Encore - £150pn
Wynn - £145pn
Palazzo - £150pn
Quite like the look of the Encore but we are total Vegas first-timers so have no clue what to go for, splahing out a bit more than usual saying as it's our honeymoon.
We stayed at the Encore last summer as Vegas first-timers and I have to say it was excellent. The only negatives for me were prices of drinks etc around the pool and lack of shade (however given the quality of the resort I guess this is to be expected.) My TR is in the 2010 thread if you want to go through or PM me for any specifics (I have photos too)
I'd say it's deffo a contender for honeymoon
lol x:staradmin There is no normal, only typical :staradmin0 -
OctoberPersonally I don't know what the fascination with staying mid strip is. Each area of the strip has it's own things going for it. If you stay north you have Wynn,Encore,Venetian,Palazzo and the shops in both,Fashion Show Mall, TI,Mirage, the volcano and the sirens of TI. If you stay south you have NYNY,Luxor,MGM,Mandalay Bay,Monte Carlo, and to lesser extent Tropicana and Excalibur. Mid strip you have Belagio, the fountains,Eiffel tower,Flamingo,Caesars,Ph,Paris, Forum shops, and to a lesser extent Ballys and City Centre (I say lesser to City Centre because there is nothing there really, just a jumble of hotels together, nothing of interest to see) I suppose if you stay mid strip you can walk(at a stretch) to both ends, but with all of the bus services running up and down it is quite easy to get anywhere. Taking all that into account I would prefer north, , but it all really blends into one. Form the north exit of the Forum shops you are at Mirage, then TI etc. From North exit of Flamingo you are at Margaritaville, O'Sheas, Casino Royale then Venetian. Mid strip to south you have the same thing to a degree. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

SeptemberThanks everyone, we are young 20-somethings so all the walking wont be a problem, off to read wizbit's trip report now0

MayI do agree once you've been once it really doesn't matter so much -Heck my first Vegas visits were to the Orleans but for a first time trip-and a honeymoon I think there is something really special about having a room with a fantastic view of the main strip and the iconic landmarks.
Would be it a huge disappointment NOT to do this ? No Would it make it that bit more special ? YesI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

As Ferf says, the walk through Wynn gets annoying. We split out 10 days honeymoon between Bellagio and Encore for our honeymoon. Bellagio is in a excellent location, especially if this is your first trip, the hotel areas are absolutely stunning, but the rooms are tired and in need of a facelift. The Encore is a bit far out of the way, but the rooms are beautiful. If you plan on spending a lot of time in the room, then go for Encore, if you want location, go for Bellagio. Personally, I'd opt for the Venetian. The rooms are almost as good as the Encore and the location is a bit better than Encore, so a nice middle ground. It's still my favourite of everywhere we've stayed so far.....Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
MarchI'm going to try out stripburger this trip. I've read over the last few years about the restaurant.com vouchers but we've never done this. Can someone give me a quick idiots guide on how it works?Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0
