Maywow thanks for all the replies. Really given me something to think about. Was initally against going in direct but am now thinking otherwise. Am particuarly interested in American Airlines now as they seem to be getting some rave reviews. What about Delta and Continental? Are they worth considering?
One thing slightly worries me.....someone mentioned in a post that getting stranded while on an american airline puts them off? Could anyone elaborate on that?
We are currently considering going to LA first, spend a few days and then drive to vegas, fly back from vegas to the same UK airport. We are pretty central in the UK so can go from most airports easily. Has anyone got any recommendations on this of advised routes each way?0 -
Maythe comment was aimed at stag groups which not all are undesirables.
Drunkeness and swearing and loutish behaviour should not be tolerated but this thread makes out this is a common thing on this flight
It is !!
Not every single flight but often enough that the Virgin flight attendents with enough seniority to get the pick of flights won't work the LGW LAS in economy and enough that many of us have observed it. When it gets bad enough that LVPD often board the plane on arrivial to remove drunks-it's bad.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

well we are going to disagree on this unless you can come up with any stats on diverts to offload people, lvpd boarding and escorting people off, because if you cannot then I'll still say this flight is not as bad as people on here make out0 -
MayI've flown enough with AA, CO and Delta to have had frequent flyer status with them all at various times.
I'm happy to fly with any of the three
Of the three CO have the worst food but everything else is great
Delta the connection times aren't great but the food and service are really good. I find them the friendliest. I love their Airbus flights really comfy
AA have the least comfy seats of the three (but comfier than Virgin) IMO food and service is good.
Really between the three go for the ones that have the best prices and timings for your dateswow thanks for all the replies. Really given me something to think about. The first virgin flight to Vegas I did, they put seatbelt sign on and told everyone there was bad turbulence when there wasn't for most of the flight to make the drunks sit down as the crew couldn't get them to move from around the toilets and emergency exits with their cans of lager.0 -
Think you may of had some bad experiences obviously on VA vegas flight but I have lots of friends who are crew and I can assure you this isnt as common as you think my friends wouldnt stand for it neither would I

I don't need stats-I've seen it first hand, I've also been on this forum long enough to see plenty of other people comment on it, I'm also in Vegas three or four times a year and talked to people whove experienced-and I've spoken to VS crew who WILL NOT work the route.
You can be an ostrich if you want-no skin off my nose
Quite honestly I don't care if you believe me or not -it happens and it's bad enough that I personally avoid that flight -and I'm not the only one who does so... after experiencing how poor Virgin are compared with the other airlines that serve LAS from the UK.
Have you flown any other airlines to the US to compare your Virgin experience with ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Yes I have flown many airlines to the US and yes I think we are one of the best carriers, the Vegas flight will have young travellers and people who will be drunk its gonna happen, its a leisure route sometimes this does happen but not on every flightI am a Travel Agent

LOL You WORK for the company Hun. You're hardly unbiased.
How often have you flown LGW LAS btw ?
No-one has said it happens on every Vegas flight-but Virgin are a lot more lax at allowing already drunk pax to board than BA or the US carriers . It does them (and their cabin crew) no favours.
Isn't it VS not VA btw ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
