Do we get meal on way from Chicago to London or should we get sandwiches?

Yes you should get a meal - pretty sure even on the 9pm from ORD they serve a meal before the lights go out...it probably will not be the greatest meal you have ever eaten, but AA trans-Atlantic feed you what seems like constantly...not overnight...but the rest of the day it seems like they are always bringing something around...my husband and I have an exchange system in place...I get his cheese and crackers, he gets my (seemingly inevitable) chocolate and fruit pudding (I do not eat chocolate and fruit together)...we've never brought food for the trans-atlantic leg and cannot recall having gone hungry.

My worst plane nightmare...if I feel I can't get up when I need to get up, I will have to get up all the time. :)

Luckily, anytime I've not been on the aisle the person blocking my way has always been perfectly agreeable.

I always book an aisle seat too-I'd rather be clambered over than be the one clambering :D

You'll get dinner and then breakfast normally. You might want to take sandwiches if you don't want strange chicken or pasta in a box though

We are flying BA to las vegas from heathrow on a boing 777 where do you advise we try to sit and would you pay in advance or wait till 24 hours before flight to choose seats thanks
copied this from our trip report here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=36590005&postcount=6834

hope it helps :) (have added a bit more detail below)

as mentioned (i think), as BA is a smaller plane (atm), it can mean less of a 'dash' for immigration as less people to compete with for a place in the queue! ;)
BA Direct Flights From Heathrow
The BA flights were booked last October'ish, following a 'Tesco Clubcard' promotion of double airmiles that we decided to go for. Can't remember exact costs but I think we had to pay around £300 total cash for 2 of us for the flights. Bargain!

We wanted a direct flight so although the later departure time was an inconvenience, the chance to try something new and Heathrow over Gatwick made it BA 1 – 0 Virgin. Though I would have preferred not having to pay extra to reserve seats pre-checkin (which we didn't bother doing on the outgoing), and also preferred the twilight check-in possible with Virgin

… as luck would have it, the BA and BAA strikes were both averted, however it was all a little more worrying than I had envisaged when booking last year! (… not to mention that flipping volcano!)

Not long after we booked these, BA shifted the departure times of the outgoing and return flights back by another 40 mins or so. Slightly annoyed as I really do prefer the earlier Virgin departure but now't we could do. However, when this was added to us still sitting on the runway at 5:20pm when we should have left at 4:10pm, it was a little more than annoying! We didn't make up the time and ended up landing in Vegas at 8pm, not reaching MGM Grand till 9pm

As mentioned, on outgoing, we didn't pre-reserve seats, so we checked in exactly 24 hours before departure and managed to get row 24 (back row, fully reclining) on the way out – group of 3 but fortunately I wasn't sat next to a mad 'un! - The window seat and middle seat of the set of 3 had the toilet behind it too so no-one bumped or grabbed your chair as they went past... I wouldn't want to sit in the aisle seat though as it kinda 'stuck out' a bit!

The centre 3 seats down the middle section of the plane on row 24 are infact only really '2 seats' as the 3rd seat is a FA seat and once the plane had taken off, they didn't sit in it again till landing

On the return journey, we did pre-reserve seats and I stumped up the £50 per person for exit row – well worth the money as i'm quite tall and wanted to be comfy if trying to sleep!!!

Food on the plane was quite nice outgoing (had 330ml Groslch and also a Heinekin of the same size, chicken tikka for missus and braised beef for me). This was shortly after take-off and just before landing we got half a “Egg and Spring Onion” sandwich, and half a “Chicken Salad” sandwich, and a muffin.

Food on plane back was a bit rank (manky cheesy pasta thing) – though maybe the “end of holiday” depression made it taste worse ;) again, that was shortly after take off, and then just before landing we got some a turkey wrap and yoghurt. Beer ran out quite quickly on this return journey so had a Groslch and then a London Pride.

Just as a heads up, each drinks 'cart' has two bottles of sparkling wine on it as well...

Film choice was not too bad but not great – watched “Shutter Island” on way out, and “The A-Team” on the way back... wasn't much else that took my interest though.

IFE played up on the return journey, with it not working for a good couple of hours (requiring several resets) - when it did work, it played up occasionally and kept stopping the film you were watching so you had to fast forward to find where you were up to.

Luggage was overweight on the way back (knew we would be as we got a 99p luggage weigher off ebay and its never been wrong!) - So the cost for us to upgrade 1 suitcase from 23kg to 32kg on the way back was $50

Photome - re: Dodge Durango's, been looking at these myself as also need one for 5 people, 5+ luggage etc - we hired one (well free upgrade to one from Cherokee i think) in 2008, but i can't for the life of me remember the internals - it was definitely a 7 seater though so there must be room for a bit of luggage in there - let me know if you find any pictures of the inside with the back seats folded down!! :)

Ferf - we're AA via ORD (to SFO) and then back from LAS via. ORD return on our next trip - can't wait to try http://www.chilis.com/ now you've mentioned it! :)

But the comment was directed at those who overindulge and impact the ability of those around them to enjoy their flight - and (apparently) this should be OK, to heck with everyone else, since they are going to a party destination or somesuch...not directed at those who have a drink or two and keep reasonably to themselves...no one has an issue with the latter category...Personally, I think those in the former category deserve any bad press they may get and those of us who have had to put up with it are going to comment when the subject arises.

IF that makes me a miserable git, then I am absolutely satisfied with being labeled in that way.

If you can't hold your drink and make life miserable for others around -then you're an undesirable-Doesn't matter if you're a group of lads, an arguing couple or any other combination. It's a matter of respecting you're not the only people on the plane and not making life miserable for others. Simple consideration

the comment was aimed at stag groups which not all are undesirables.

Drunkeness and swearing and loutish behaviour should not be tolerated but this thread makes out this is a common thing on this flight

it kinda is...and stag groups are common offenders...not all, of course...no one takes issue with the stags that behave themselves.
