OctoberI manage our fleet of company iphones and Blackberries. In terms of raw volume, an iphone user will average ten times as much data as a BB user.....it and its apps are much chattier eg weather updates every 5 minutes. A three day foreign trip will often rack up £100 or so in data roaming charges. Also, many networks will restrict your bandwidth after reaching a certain limit.
Suggest this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1807 and
and use the hotel wifi when back there to pick up emails etc. NOTE some hotels block Skype/MSN/VOIP type traffic.
Froggit is absolutely correct with the data usage on iPhone!
Many of the iPhone apps will "talk to the internet" in the background and use data without you knowing.
Unless you add a roaming data bolt on before you leave, you should turn off your data while roaming to avoid a nasty bill when you get home.
FYI - I currently work for a B2B mobile phone dealership, so deal with roaming stuff regularly.Married in Vegas - 25th October 2011!

SeptemberIs it worth spending a night at a downtown hotel eg Golden Nugget or is best to stay on the strip?
We have four nights planned in September but will leaving after 1 night to visit the Grand Canyon south rim. We are considering spending the 1st night in a downtown hotel and then when returning from the GC. staying @ the Mirage/PlanetH for 3 nights.
This is our 1st visit to Vegas btw, as part of a San Francisco/Monterey/Yosemite/Vegas road trip.0 -

I think you are going to get the same mix of answers that you are getting on your GC thread.
Downtown is worth a visit, wether it is worth staying there for a night and only leaving 2 on the strip is debateable, personally I wouldnt
I am assumimg though that you may not really be "in to" vegas as if you stay downtown and then at GC that only leaves 1 full day in Vegas plus a few hours either side. That doesnt leave much time to get to know Vegas
Edit
Read it wrong it leaves you 3 nights and 2 full days so not so bad...more days is better though0 -
Hi All
Am a newbie to "Vegas". There is a lot of great info on here, thanks to everyone who has contributed :T:T. Long story short, my sister informed us in August that they were getting married in Vegas in April and would we like to go Me, OH & 2 x kids, we jumped at the chance (she paid flights & room) but our passports had been stolen in 2007 and we never replaced them as (long story) after many many arguments, insurance would not pay out. As it was such short notice she gave us and with Christmas coming up, we only just scraped together the money for the passports (£253.00) and sent them away on 26th February, we could not apply in person or fast track as they are replacing lost/stolen passports.
The travel agent is now saying to her they cannot issue the tickets without our passport numbers and she is naturally getting totally stressed about it, has anyone else had this problem, I know they are stricter over there but I have never been asked for my passport number before to allow them to issue tickets, even when travelling to Canada??? I am hoping the passports will be with us by next week at the latest
passport usually only take 3 weeks .my daughters was done usuing the check and send service at the post office and took 2-3 weeks .
tell the travel agent to hold fire , you have loads of time till August .
but make sure you do the ESTA's first when they arriveBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

Apparently there is a major fraud scam going on in Vegas and they are not being allowed to be used??
Has anyone heard anything about this? I have a Caxton that I was going to load up before going but dont want to know if I wont be able to use it??
I would be sure this isn't a scam too. Don't post it etc. Personally take it back to where he bought it from, or you might never see it or your money again. Haven't heard of any recalls, but then again, as I don't use them, I'm not likely to stumble across it.....Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -

Don't stress.... you've sent them in Feb and are flying in April. 4 weeks is absolutely more than enough time......
