Whats this about fraud and pre-paid cards ??????
I was unaware travel agents sold pre-paid credit cards ? To my knowledge, they old sold prepaid VISA Electron cards ??

He had a pre paid mastercard debit card not credit card sorry. He has been refunded his money now as as I said the Holiday Hypermarket he got it from rang him and said he would nt be able to use it as there is a big fraud going on with them.

I was going to load mine with $1000 today for when i land tomorrow but now I m going to hang on. I have £200 on it already so will see if I can withdraw anything as soon as I land. I have a different card for purchases but as there is no fee for ATM withdrawals I was going to use that for cash.

I just wondered if anyone else had heard anything similar?

i always check Dial a flight in the Sunday papers to get the rock bottom price for a flight to Vegas . they will advertise this to get people to call but the reality of getting that price may be that it is very limited .

anyway £475 is your rock bottom price at the moment . personally if you can get a flight to LV starting with a 5 , grab it i say .
this has just dropped in my emails - seems a great price for Vegas if people can find it for their dates!

hell, it's limited dates but worth a mention (and maybe a useful date to check if you're after the cheap flights mentioned in the post above), but the following offer is also on Netflights:

    4 nights @ Luxor plus flights (US Airways) departing 29th March 2011 = £499

    So based on a flight for £450, that's £50 (+resort???) for 4 nights @ Luxor

Can't be bad - especially if date and 4 nights suits you! :)

I can only assume they want to do all the 'Advanced Passenger Information' straight away, as usually they only need Full Name + DOB (IIRC) for you to purchase your tickets

    More info on API here:
    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Foreigntravel/AirTravel/DG_176737

One thing to mention though is that if you don't have a passport, then I assume you won't have an ESTA, so don't forget to sort that out either!!

We have already given them all this info which is why I have told her not to stress, the company Hayes & Jarvis I think have put the fear of god into her!!! I know about the ESTA, thats on my list as soon as I receive them, was just annoyed I couldn't get them for free before September, not so :money:

passport usually only take 3 weeks .my daughters was done usuing the check and send service at the post office and took 2-3 weeks .

tell the travel agent to hold fire , you have loads of time till August .

but make sure you do the ESTA's first when they arrive

I have done an online tracking info tonight so hopefully will have some info tomorrow, it was August she told us, we are going on 8th April
Don't stress :).... you've sent them in Feb and are flying in April. 4 weeks is absolutely more than enough time......

Fingers crossed, think because she is stressing, its making me worse, I also spoke to a friend of a work colleague who works in a travel agent, she says she has done the ESTA for people within 3 day of departure but I am not taking a chance, I have already got travel insurance done thru quidco :money:

Thanks so much for all your advice, maybe I will sleep better tonight giving all this positive info :D:A

We are staying in the Luxor, Pyramid and I have maps etc of the cheapest places to eat etc as the other 11 in the party are not bothering but I like to be organised !!!!

Which travel insurance did you get for Vegas? Should also get one, when saving some money with quidco even better :)

sorry, I'm a bit confused i think... your saying you've given them the API info... including your passport numbers and expiry dates? (if so, how have you obtained these?) - if you have the details for the API then you can do your ESTA now as well! :)

maybe they ask to see the passport so any errors can immediately be attributed to their staff instead of the customer?
  • Hey all wondering if this is a good deal, for the mandarin oriental £127 each for 2nights - this is in august

When I was looking at it a month or two ago, for my dates for March, it was approx ($299) £200 per night, but also, buy 2, get 1 night free. So about £133 per night. Not sure how much cheaper you can find it, as deals don't seem to come up in the same way as other hotels........ Not sure if this helps :)

If it's refundable, I'd book and then look out for other offers to try and beat your price......
