in most cases you're right, ive never found virgin holidays to be competitive on price. however, my sister came out to my wedding but was only going monday-friday, booking a flight on VA would have cost over £2000 economy return due to not staying over on a saturday (always thought that was a wierd rule) however a 5 night 'holiday' booked thru virgin holidays, on the same flights she priced up thru VA.com and staying at the luxor worked out to be just under £800.

Now usually that would be considered expensive but for her travel date requirements actually worked out the cheapest suitable option.

I used some miles for a "miles+ money fare"
It was £100pp cheaper than the normal fare.
I got flights for september for £526, about 700 now

There are system loaded discounts on negotiated fares from VA, so when you consider the discounts plus 10% for frequent flyers it can work out considerably cheaper

The hotel part of the VH package is usually considerably more.
I am in the Frequent VH Club, and have nearly always found cheaper elsewhere, even after taking off the 10%

If I am flying for a couple of days midweek, I usually book a flight/hotel expedia package to get round the saturday night rule, book 1 night at the cheapest hotel available, but dont use it. And also go through Quidco.

Have also used a VH Flydrive and not taken the car, just to use the flight when travelling Mon-Fri

Thanks for the Planet Hollywood feedback - I like it there and have eaten at Earl of Sandwich it was pretty good .

Also eaten at Planet Dallies twice, once with vouchers from Tix4Tonight was ok particuarly as I had slept in after a long day and wanted a good meal at 2am (work dinner!).

I agree with the Virgin piece, I use them for work and always do the Miles + Money, on our flights for this August we saved £100pp on our LAS-MIA flights but was looking for options for my dad who needs to do Sun-Thurs for our Wedding. VA flights were around £2k due to the Sat night rule, VA Holidays were around £1.2K per person - have the same flights with Opodo and PH for £846 +£26 cashback Still more than I am used to but worth it for the direct flights and no saturday stay.

If it helps anyway I've been to Vegas three times and am getting married at Juno Garden (CP) this year so happy to share any advice or learnings.

You would disagree. You are trying to sell the holidays !

But I have checked on various occasions the Virgin holidays packages and have never come close to finding one at a similar price to DIY never mind cheaper

I have a Virgin Tribe card (work for VM) and even with that, Virgin still gave me one of the most expensive quotes and this has been the case for at least the last 4 holidays I have booked
