MayI have had a photocopy of my passport accepted as ID everywhere bar Harrah's Total Rewards, Sahara player's club and Caesars check in. I have used it numerous times when using a credit card no problem.
I would suggest taking both a copy and the original passport the first few times and if the copy is accepted, leave the original in the safe.0 -

I've read in a few places to just use a photocopy of my passport incase I lose it, do you think that would be okay so I could leave the passport at the hotel, or should I just bring it anyway?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. November / DecemberThanks everyone
Been a bit worried about that and couldn't find anywhere else on the internet that give me a good answer.
On the note of Vegas, we're only going for 2 nights and hoping to stay at the Trump Hotel. Is this a good place to stay? I've read that there's no casino here so it's not too smokey which is definitely a plus for me. It would be £118 between us for the 2 nights in November.0 -
MayGoing for only two nights unless you are massively smoke sensetive you may be better at an ON Strip hotel rather than Trump.
Rooms in the better hotels don't have a smoke issue -and neither do the majority of casinos as everything is air-conditioned to death.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I am with Duchy.. first time visitor stay on the strip in a "proper" vegas hotel with a casino, again as said you shoulde be able to get a non smoking room so only an issue in the casino and you cant be visiting vegas without going in a casino...surely0 -
photocopy wont be accepted, passport will be accepted everywhere as will photo driving licence, except at some of the player clubs who insist on passport.Be prepared to get I.D everywhere i was 26 last time I went id for cocktail waitress, id off random security, id when sitting down at a blackjack table.
I know what you mean 31 and I even got stopped by police walking on the strip for an ID check!!!0 -

OctoberAnyone seen the movies 21 and the original The Last Casino ?
,
they are about the MIT college team counting cards at blackjack ,
i've just ordered professional blackjack by Stanford Wong from Ebay and Modern Blackjack second edition by Norm Wattenberger from Amazon , two of the best blackjack books as recommended by those who do count ie professionals ,
i've only just mastered basic strategy using a strategy card which gives the house an edge of 0.44% with a bit of counting am gonna beat the house advantage and put the odds in my favour ..
Anyone a professional and got some good advice ?
First, you will never have an advantage over the house, the best you can do is keep looking at your strategy card and play correctly. Money management is the name of the game. If you go into a session with a certain amount, then when you win 30% of that finish there. Go back again later and do the same. See with all the talk of counting and basic strategy in the end B/J is a game of attrition. There are streaks involved, just like any game of chance (albeit one where you do have a say in the outcome) You ride out the bad streak with minimum bets, then when you can see the streak turning to your favour bet higher, but only until you reach that 30% mark. In the end if you go in with $400 and win $120 that's pretty good going. I have a rule that if a dealer beats me 3 times on the trot I move on.
Now a card counting lesson, try this and see if you will ever get near it. Turn over one card at a time of a 52 card deck, and count the cards value using the +1,-1 method, then the next, and the next and so on until you reach the end. The count should be at zero. Now do this as quick as you can, to be any good at taking in what is going on at a table you would have to be able to do this in less than 20 seconds, that's right, flip over 52 cards count their value, add or subtract from the previous number and end up at 0 in less than 20 seconds.
Now this will do you no good at a Vegas table anyway because either you will have a card shuffling machine, 6 decks, 6/5 single deck or the the cut card that the dealer puts into the decks in the shoe is so shallow that you will in effect be playing with 4 decks,(it's known as penetration) Just have fun and try not to lose too much.:TThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0
