Really interested in the Scoot City Groupon - does anyone know how long you have available before you have to redeem it? We are going in Sept and I don't want the time limit to run out before we go. I cant see anything on the website, but want to be sure before we buy !

I knew it ;) my fav casino/hotel of them all. so far.....

Funny, it's the one we lose at consistently...win/loss statements prove it is not a perception thing. :)

Welcome back, Fluff! Looking forward to the trip report when you are rested and up to it.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

You would have read some good advice about what to do in previous posts. I will add my own, as B/J is the one game I know a bit about.
First, you will never have an advantage over the house, the best you can do is keep looking at your strategy card and play correctly. Money management is the name of the game. If you go into a session with a certain amount, then when you win 30% of that finish there. Go back again later and do the same. See with all the talk of counting and basic strategy in the end B/J is a game of attrition. There are streaks involved, just like any game of chance (albeit one where you do have a say in the outcome) You ride out the bad streak with minimum bets, then when you can see the streak turning to your favour bet higher, but only until you reach that 30% mark. In the end if you go in with $400 and win $120 that's pretty good going. I have a rule that if a dealer beats me 3 times on the trot I move on.
Now a card counting lesson, try this and see if you will ever get near it. Turn over one card at a time of a 52 card deck, and count the cards value using the +1,-1 method, then the next, and the next and so on until you reach the end. The count should be at zero. Now do this as quick as you can, to be any good at taking in what is going on at a table you would have to be able to do this in less than 20 seconds, thats right, flip over 52 cards count their value, add or subtract from the previous number and end up at 0 in less than 20 seconds. :D
Now this will do you no good at a Vegas table anyway because either you will have a card shuffling machine, 6 decks, 6/5 single deck or the the cut card that the dealer puts into the decks in the shoe is so shallow that you will in effect be playing with 5 decks. Just have fun and try not to lose too much.:T

you cannot count that fast . not accurate anyway . what you need to do is reduce the counting by cancelling cards of same /opposite value against each other , then count whats left .

takes many many hours of practice i'm told .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Without going into deep detail that is around about what you do, it's more like speed reading. I can do it in a constint 35 seconds, and get my count around the zero mark within reason. Yes it takes hours, no months of doing that is why the average Joe will never be that good. I was a bit of an anorak about it a few years ago, just wanted to see if I could do it. www.bj21.com is the definitive site for all things Blackjack
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I am with Duchy.. first time visitor stay on the strip in a "proper" vegas hotel with a casino, again as said you shoulde be able to get a non smoking room so only an issue in the casino and you cant be visiting vegas without going in a casino...surely :(

Haha, of course we are going to the casinos. I just saw that hotel and thought it seemed good and it said there was a free shuttle to the strip, but after you saying that I think it probably would be a lot better to stay on the strip if we're there such a short time. Any recommendations around the same price?
