I wouldn't pick MGM personally but looking at your per person per night rate -the answer is probably yes -unless you are on a very tight budget.

Really though you are asking us if it would be worth it-to you-without giving us any info to go on . Ignoring that tho.....

MGM is less central than Excalibar but is huge so lots of eating places and things going on . If a really central location is important to you -it's something to consider.

Ha well you don't have to stay in your own hotel do you? I was planning on going to other casinos and places rather than just staying in the one hotel the whole 4 days, which is why I was going to do the cheap.... or is this the wrong idea?

you could upgrade your room in the excalibur? what about the flamingo, good location, cheaply priced for that area. has a great pool aswell.

the tropicana could work also, not far from MGM, newly renovated rooms and good value with some $5 tables.

Just looked at the Flamingo and it looks quite nice actually!

Flamingo does seem a better fit for a group of 22 year-olds...especially if the pool is a high priority. Check page 1 here for places to check for good deals as well...there are a number of places you could check other than expedia. But if your price for Excalibur is for both rooms, it doesn't seem a bad price to me - but probably doesn't include the resort fee.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Yeh the final booking most probably not be made with expedia, just easier at browsing the hotels with their site. (but I will be going through quidco, 7.5% discount with Expedia if I go with them ;))

thought I'd throw in another :T for staying at the Hilton at Gatwick. yes it does work out a bit more expensive, but for the peace of mind and a great relaxing start to a holiday, you can't put a price on it!

being able to park only a 5min stroll away is a bonus too. plus the Virgin twilight check-in, easy walk from hotel to terminal... great :)

    You're 22 - i doubt you'll see much of the hotel.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter where you stay. Id probably also recommend flamingo for you - as 1) great pool and 2) near loads of cheap drink places - $1 Michelob beer all the time at O'Sheas, outside bar at the side of the Flamingo i dont think i ever paid more than $3 a beer, Bills for $1 frozen marg's and pitchers of coors (can't remember how much but cheap)

MGM also has a great pool, Im staying there on my next trip as everyone we're going with is too. Not sure about cheap drinks around the MGM - we tend to drink across the road in NYNY -Coyote Ugly, 9 Fine Irishmen etc, like the atmosphere, but its not especially cheap. Excalibur as said before - possibly too many kids there for my liking, and it is a bit grotty, but the room will no doubt be better than any UK travel lodge.

I think its about 10-15mins walking max between Flamingo and MGM - so decide if you want a decent pool, or if theres any "must" haves, and plan from there.

    Theres a coyote ugly bar?

    THANK YOU.

I went to one in Prague and it was one of the best nights of my life. Hopefully the LV will live up to it as well.

And yes, we are not planning on staying in the hotel but it's been 2 years since last holiday so I guess I want somewhere decent to stay.

    hi all
our wedding dinner is at firefly downtown and we've booked a limo bus from 9.30-10.30pm to bring our guests back to the strip.we would then like to go somewhere quite close to mgm for some music and dancing but anywhere i looked at charge "bottle service" to reserve a table i dont want anything fancy and i dont want to pay $250 for a bottle of vodka just so we can have a seat!!!
any ideas?has anyone ever been to the bar at times square,we would rather have a bar/lounge rather than a club.our guests range from 25-50.
    thanks
