I have never tried the $20 trick at Encore, but they have usually asked if I would like to upgrade to a higher floor at $25 per night

Also if you are light sleepers, I would go for a higher floor, as the nightclub noise may keep some awake

Not too worried about the noise, plus hopefully we will be in the club :)

Just wanted to make sure we get a good view of the strip

Thtas great getting the price match, do you know if you are still going to get your free breakfasts though.

Plus...I wonder what a free breakfast consists of at the Cosmo?

The package we booked through booking.com included free breakfasts and our original booking confirmation included breakfasts so I assume we will still be getting them. Their email said they would honor the price match and we will receive a new booking confirmation in due course.

Anyone stayed at the Cosmopolitan? How was it? The reviews are terrible(mainly around the organisation) - but looks a good place:(

The thing is we are already booked 4 days Vdara then 4 days days in the Encore. But as i am now a smoker (again!) i want to change the Vdara part of the trip. I am booked with Virgin so am limited to their hotels, was going to go for the signature until i realised that was non smoking aswell!! Also looking at thehotel, Bellagio & Mandalay

    What do you experts reckon?

    Regards

If you mean the reviews on TA, I would take them with a large pinch of salt. If you read between the lines, people are giving it 1 star for really petty thing. It always seems on TA that people except ultimate perfection and when there is a small issue, they give the property 1 star.

If you read the discussion forums rather than the reviews, no-one had a bad word to day about the Cosmopolitan.

If you are considering it, the rooms are all non-smoking. However you can smoke on the terrace if you have one.

Hubby and I are off to Vegas in 12 days!! WOOOO!
We are staying at Encore...what are our chances of getting an upgrade with the $20 trick? We are not bothered about a better room but want to get a decent view.
Very little. I think from a standard room to an upgraded Panarama room, which is the next step would cost you a pretty penny so they wouldn't be willing to upshift you for free. If all you want is a strip view just ask at checkin, we asked for a high room with strip view and got just that for nothing but having a British accent.

I got a highfloor at Wynn without any $20 tip or any upgrade fee (think it was floor 36) but just remembered I did post on facebook about how much I was looking forward to staying at the Wynn and that I would love a highfloor and they replied on facebook that it was noted on my reservation.

On arrival my room had been preasigned after noting my request
    Great tip!!

Q How should I take a wedding dress on my flight?

A If possible your garments should be packed into a seperate suitcase and marked 'Fragile Wedding Garments'. This will be placed in the hold in the aircraft. Alternatively, your garments can be taken into the cabin as long as they are packed into your hand luggage and fit into the specified weight and dimension requirements. We are unable to hang wedding garments in the Economy and Premium Economy cabins due to the CAA regulations
    End Quote"
    What a load of Bu11 !!!!!!.
So if you are traveling cattle or just above cattle it is against CAA regs to hang up a wedding dress, but if you are in Upper it's not!!! And there IS a locker just between the stairs and the mini economy section, I have hung my jacket in it. It is where row 23 ABC should be.

Received a funny letter this morning from Alamo Settlement Administrator. It seems as though if you booked a car with Alamo or Hertz in Vegas between 07 and 09 and were charged a facility recovery fee you are to get your money back. I have been given what seems like $20 off my next rental good for 18 months if booked through Alamo. Not a lot of use because I never book direct with the car hire company, too many extras to deal with and it always seems to work out miles dearer than booking through an agent in this country.

This may be of use to some of you frequent visitors. We already store some items with a friend, but I would consider this if we weren't already sorted.
