Has any got any ideas for using up baby powder(talc) - got some as presents for my little un when he was born but don't want to use them on him.

Talc is useful for lots of different things - stopping floorboards squeaking for one thing! It's good as a foot/sock/shoe deodoriser. In the dim and distant past I used it to mask marks on a white mattress (Army quarters!)
If you are desperate you can use it as a dry shampoo, I did this a lot in school in the Seventies as back then I was only allowed to wash my hair twice a week and come Wednesday and Saturday mornings it was like the proverbial chip pan.
I remember reading that warmed talc could be used as a degreasant to remove oily marks from fabrics and rugs. No idea if it works.

Thanks for that mcculloch29 - shall definitely try it in the shoes (especially hubby's when he's not looking! :p)

Nooooo reading all your lovely stashes makes me want to try things too... I need talc for my hair (although I own dry hair shampoo in three types)... and I need to try some molton brown... and I need to try argan oil (sp?)... please people do start telling me how bad these things are otherwise I will finish my stash and crave yours!

Oh and one UU... No7 wipes from a glitch a few years ago, used to clean the cat who walked in covered in mud. They're perfect as they don't smell and they're quite wet.

ooooh I need a case like this! It's just like my sewing box but without the legs, not wood and much bigger... I can justify owning it! where's it from?

  • evening all and welcome all newbies,

had to dump about half a tube of Benefit Firmology this morning as it had gone off, I'd started using it ages ago and then set it aside when I started onto something else - darn my fickle ways

As well as a no more buying resolution I think I'll have to make a 'no opening any product until you've finished the one you're using' resolution too!

    happy pampering, xx

Hiya everyone - thanks for all your positive vibes. Didn't buy any toiletries today despite looking!!! :j

Was in Debenhams (Bath) and asked at the Clinique counter about the mascara swap. They are doing it from 17th - 30th January, other Debs are doing it until 16th. I will go back later then. :T

I did buy in Debenhams but was looking for a wheelie type weekend bag - got lucky as they had just reduced one for the second time and it is perfect, soooo pleased.

Phew, can't believe how quickly this thread is moving. Can anyone recommend a dry shampoo - I've heard the Batiste one is good.

Looks like the S&G offer is online again at Boots - have never bought any of it yet .......... but it sure has a lot of followers.

Keep using up your stashes and refrain wherever possible ;) xx

Lol Helen, you really don't want to try talc on your hair if you do own dry shampoo - the key part of the phrase was 'if you are desperate'. It used to make my scalp feel so gritty... I have some Tesco Value talc so I might try it myself sometime to see if things have improved (though I doubt it.)
Talc is also very good if you have really tight fitting hold you in underwear on, helps it go up and down a lot more easily, or so I'm told (cough).

Morning all :D. I finished my 4 nights yesterday morning and got home late. It was the kids first day back at school and they were still in bed when I got home at 7.45 so I got them up and sorted. Usually I go straight to bed but I didn't end up getting in until 10am and was up at 1. Consequently, come 8.30 last night I was hanging. I jumped into DH's bath (he was a little miffed!) and then crawled out after washing my hair. Got into bed and crashed out. So I've been awake since 4am. Got lots of housework to do today but can't start yet as it's too noisy. So I'm drinking coffee. I would do the ironing but the basket's up in my bedroom.
Was so tired I didn't put any night cream on and haven't removed my make up properly, just had a half hearted wipe with a flannel. I'll try to be good tonight and give myself a good facial. I am going to go and put some moisturiser on in a minute because it's down here and my skin's really dry. DH had put my one in use in my present bag so I couldn't find it.
I may get a chance to haul out the toiletries today and do a sash list but I'm not sure if I will.
Out of interest, how do you get pictures directly onto here, rather than as a link? I might be tempted to show you all my boring stash.
I too got my boots points letter and am wondering whether or not to use it. We will need conditioner. I have some (probably enough for one nit coming session) left but none in stash. I don't need to use it now that I've got rid of that awful henna shampoo as the alberto balsam leaves my hair lovely and smooth. As it's often on 4 for £3, I can't see me changing my shampoo, I class it as a HG and it's cheap!

Welcome, man! You can't just tempt us with your tales of clinique man stuff without spilling more about your stash ;). Please elaborate :).
Hope you all have a gurt lush day. Shall catch up with you later on, TTFN, Kaz.
