I have more UU's! After my lovely pampering bath where I shaved buffed and scrubbed, I have UU the following.....
Olay daily regenerating cream wash. WIBA?: No, I decided that I actually prefer the heating one which is more like a paste. It is very expensive £8ish although it does last well and was a gift. Have got the heating one out of the stash to use next.
Boots natural collection wild strawberry body scrub. WIBA?: No, no, no, no, NO! Smelled ghastly, scrubby bits didn't dissolve and left bits all over me and the bath. Got this from my neighbour who was having a clear out- know why she got rid! Have replaced with a botanics scrub (also from neighbour).
Garnier vital restore cream spf15 2ml sample. WIBA?: No, was a freebie from a magazine at work. I've put it on but it's left a big white film all over my face. It's very greasy too. Now as it has spf in it, it's obviously a day cream. There's no way that I could put make up on over this.

I have also done PY(toe)NM. A lushious harlotty red. They look fab!

On the pink rose candle philosophy,
I had a patient last week who very sadly passed away. She had cancer but got pneumonia. Her death was very sudden and very sad for the family. When I ws laying her out, I removed her socks and exclaimed in surprise. My colleague wondered what was up when I gasped and said look at her toes...
This lady had THE most fabulous dark red metalic pedicure with diamantes on her big toes. We both said, well, that's how I'd like to go.
I lost a lady last night who had had her hair set on Friday and was beautifully coiffured too.

I think these ladies got it right. Go out with a bang, still looking your best.
*Hope nobody finds this offensive or thinks I'm making light of the situations. I would never do that. I take my job very seriously and aim to let my patients move on with dignity. I am also aware that the written word can come across very differently than it sounds to the writer as none of you can see my inflections or expressions.

    A couple of UUs yesterday:

Lush Christmas Pudding Bath Ballistic: WIBA? No I don't like bath ballistics really, prefer my bath to have bubbles! Also this turned the water a rather interesting yellowy brown colour - not very relaxing, but it was left over from last year and is now gone!

Great minds - This is a UU for me today too and totally agree. Was really disappointed with it as I love Lush products normally. WNBA.

Not a big step for some but it is for me, went into Boots today and managed to not buy anything :)

  • evening all,

Kaz, that was a really lovely post,

another uu tonight: elemis hand and body lotion 300ml, loved using this, it has a very delicate scent and does a great job at moisturising, however I will only repurchase if it's on a mega mega mega good deal!

Have to go and have a rummage through the stash now and decide what to use next, that's one of the things I love about this challenge - my stash has become my own little personal 'shop' where I can decide what to use without having the hassle of actually going shopping (realise that probably sounds a bit mad :rotfl:)

Is it time-consuming being an Avon rep and is the money any good? I am on the lookout for ways to earn some extra cash (to boost my deposit) and thought this might be good. Do you need a car?

p.s. thanks for the L'Oreal recommendation, never tried it before but I must give it a go next time the vouchers are on in Boots. :)

    Welcome Hazz!!! :)

I think it is as time consuming as you want to make it Tara. I have a medium sized territory with 151 houses on it. Of those, around 20% have asked not to have books, and around 20% are customers - which equates to about 1 house in 4 by the time you take into account those that don't get books. (Confused yet? Excellent! :D) My area has been badly messed about by several previous reps, and it has taken me until literally the current campaign to really start getting the trust of people properly - now I am getting orders from new customers each campaign which is great. I print up A5 sized flyers to go in the bags with the books pointing people in the direction of special offers etc, which takes a little time but pays off. Having a car is helpful, but not essential so long as you get territory close to home - you could do it with a trolley for the heavy stuff (first drops of books when you are carrying a load) and a sturdy bag for the lighter stuff. Avon are pretty good about giving you territory close to home, and even more so if you ask for it. Deliveries are once every three weeks for the most part, and you would need to either be at home to receive it or have a place of safety it can be left for you. Each trip out to deliver books take 20 - 30 minutes depending on numbers. There is also a bit of time getting books ready to go out (Assembled in the bags with their flyers, order forms etc) and sorting out the order when it is delivered, plus of course delivering to customers. I would guess it averages at 2 - 3 hours per week.
Re earnings - Min order value is £78, below this level you pay book prices and earn zero. Once you hit MOV the commission is 20%, once you hit HOV it's 25%. You have to pay for your brochures, paper bags and carrier bags - my 60 books cost me around £9 and the paper bags in particular are pretty cheap - I've got a pack of small ones coming this time and have got 50 for 24p.

Sorry that got a bit wordy but I wanted to explain as much stuff as I could think of! You're never going to make your fortune at it, but if you put the effort in you can earn £50+ each campaign and of course if ou like the products you're able to buy those (as and when you need them!) at reps prices.

Kaz - how lovely that even when they were so ill your ladies really wanted to look their best. Maybe a lesson can be taken forwards for the rest of us there - as presumably they realised that looking good helped them to feel better. I guess it's a bit like what And said the other day about it being really therapeutic for those with disabilities to adopt the pink rose candle philosophy. For what it's worth, I think your ladies and their families were lucky to have you caring for them in their last days - it comes across each time you post on the subject just how dedicated you are to your job, and how much you love it. :T

well for Xmas 09 we took pressies down in the Nov when others hadn't got their stuff together for the swap. We went back last Nov and were given the pressies but didn't have room to bring them back to we left them unopened. We went back this weekend as we didn't get there at christmas and these were our only pressies.

Funny thing was OH turned to me and said 'that's not going to help you with your use it up challenge is it?' i guess he must be listening to my whitterings whilst i'm online on an evening.

Thanks Lemon Tree - I had been turning that one over in my head and nothing sensible was coming out.

Another UU for me today Johnsons Shower & Shave 50ml. Decided to UU a mini as it had been in the stash for a wee while and I don't have any mini breaks or holidays planned. Unlike some of you lucky ladies - enjoy.

Hi everyone and welcome newbies :)

    Ins - None !!!

UU - Clinique Sparkle exfoliator shower stuff - WIBA - maybe if it was going cheap, I liked it but it didn't froth up so mixed it with another shower gel. You have to make sure you rinse well as it has little exfoliating beads in it.

OUT - A dried up pack of facial wipes, they were very old.

Kaz - I am a nurse too and thought your post was lovely. It is lovely to take care and spoil yourself at any age.

Valm - Have you tried the BS camomile eye make up remover (liquid) it is my HG and quite soothing. My DD also uses it. I try to get it when they have a sale, so have a stash ane it does last a long time.

Keep up the good work everyone :j

I didn't have time to apply foot butter and body lotion today after my shower as I got up too late! It made me feel miserable that I had to miss out this routine.

That is exactly how I felt a day last week when I was running late for work and had to skip a few what I now feel are daily essentials. I was really annoyed with myself too.

Still haven't settled into my new working routine. Well that's my excuse for not being able to get out of my bed....

Oh and KAZ I really liked what you are saying about some of the ladies you had been working with too.

Kaz, what a wonderful post. Thank you so much for sharing the stories of those two dear women. May they rest in peace and may their families have strength and comfort.

Pink Rose Candle Philosophy has been going down well on Ouch, but if you have the time to read it, there is also a very moving and thought provoking post from a lovely lady who is a mental health service user.
