I'm using the carrot moisturiser atm, i like it for my dry skin too, but don't feel that it does anything special.
As for spf, i use foundation with spf in it, have you thought of that perhaps?
I hadn't thought of this! I normally use mac face and body (no SPF) but don't really like it so quite fancy a change! Will look out for foundation with SPF.Saving all my pennies0 -

I started watching but have had to stop. It's making me jealous!:p
Jealous=desire to buy same toiletries=creation of even bigger stash=naughty step for ever!
Most impressed a) with how you stored them in the bags and chopped off the tops and b) that you know all the names! (Or is that a bad sign suggesting total addiction???:rotfl:)
Thanks for sharing the link LPS! :T0 -

Bare in mind that was a year ago, right after Christmas 09. So i had lots of goodies i got for pressies, and for my birthday, and from the sale. My Lush stash is teeny now compared to what it was...although some would say it's still rather large, but for me it is a massive improvement!0 -
Alioth, thanks for the tips - that was really, really interesting stuff. If you happen to know any more things like that, please let us know as once I have used up my stash, I'm going to try to go as organis as possible and it's great to hear tips like these.
Best of luck wish stash-using and flat moving! :T
Thanks. I'm not an expert in biochemistry though, just like reading about ingredients of cosmetics.
As for natural products, there's a trade-off: alcohol is often used as a natural preservative. So the 100% natural products often contain it. Similarly, some of the silicones are natural, as they are made of silica. Latex is also natural, and can be technically organic, as it's made out of rubber tree sap. It doesn't mean that these products are good for you. Also, things like shea butter and cocoa butter may clog your pores. Whereas glycerine is man-made but you won't think twice about using it. There is no perfect beauty product
My personal philosophy is not to use things with long lists of ingredients, alcohol high up on the list, and a lot of silicones. I google ingredients I'm unsure about, and if something clogs my pores I try to remember what it's made of in order to avoid similar stuff in the future.0 -
Thank you for the support and the comments Jacks, LemonTree, trudij, mcculloch29, Fiasco and TryingReallyHard !!! I feel quite overwhelmed, you are all so nice and supportive!!! Thank you very much. It has helped a lot to hear your stories and advice.
I hope you soon feel better mummyofonechild!!
Thanks Alioth for the explanation!! Is it the same with vaseline-based moisturizers? Or petroleum based oil? I always wondered because my skin gets just sticky or slippery, but next morning my dry patches are still there... or maybe it is just a sign of me needing more moisturizer!!Lol at training my man :rotfl: I think my hair is just too dark
I just thought that if Shakira managed to get blonde, so should I! Lol, she had quite dark curly and thick hair when she started in her teens. Obviously she also has a team of beauticians knowing how to do it and what to use!!! Lol
I tried to multiquote but lost them in the endSomebody said about posting if an offer 2x1 in dyes was spotted. Thank youuuu!!!
I hope it is at Boots so I can use my points and spend nothing (I have like £35 worth there). :T Saving it for a good moisturizer but still do not know which one, I haven't found the perfect one!! Lol
I liked it the No7 Lift & Illuminate, which I had got with one of those 3x2 offers. I tried Olay 3 point and it was good but I think my skin got used to it. I also tried some Olay one that was in a black tube (30ml) instead of a pot. I tried looking for it again but it has disappeared from both the Olay website and the shops. I can only find it on eBay. I liked that one because it had peptides/vit A and vit E. I bought Estee Lauder Perfectionist+ whilst on honeymoon because it was duty free and in dollars, which saved me £20!! But that is a serum and I am using it wisely because I do not want it to go to quickly. So atm I have no moisturizer, all gone. I am using Bio Oil instead... which is great but not sure about smell and I need to wait 30 min before leaving the house so I am not a shinning face!! :rotfl:
Any good Anti-wrinkle with SPF and peptides/retinol/vit A? (And under £30 too!)Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

I'm also trying to move onto something with SPF. Although, for SPF to fully work you need to apply 2mg/cm2 of skin, which is quite a lot. So for example if something is SPF15, it will realistically become more like SPF5 unless you slap it on thickly. Also, you know how with most suntan lotions you need to reapply every 2 hours? The ingredients react when exposed to the sun and disintegrate. The same would be true for most of the SPF moisturisers. It works out expensive, otherwise you enjoy the sunscreen benefits for 2 hours a day. You don't need sunshine (UVB) for it to disintegrate, normal daylight (UVA) does the job the same.
Better SPF moisturisers have factors 50 and are photostable, so only need to apply once. So if anybody wants to get full on with SPF, that's the products they should go for. They are big stash fillers though, because they're so thick it's really hard to use them! So I gave up and only use the drugstore gimmicks. Getter something then nothing!0
