also have an IN but feel i have reason for it!
bout an fcuk body wash (even thought i have a ton of body wash/shower gel etc) but i got the free £8 miniatures set with it that boots were giving away. i would have bought some miniatures around the time of my holiday anyways (cant be doing with decanting, just easier to buy a mini n leave it there!) so think im justified and can be excused?!!!
Mmm...;) So you needed the minis but not the body wash?!!! I know what you mean though - when I get my gift with purchase things that stuff is so handy for trips/holidays. Plus you need to be extra scupulously (spelling?) clean when decanting stuff. :A

what's the best deep conditioner for dry, curly, can be frizzy hair?

I keep hearing about philip kingsley elasticizer, anyone used it?

I totally swear by Elasticizer. I don't have any at the moment and keep feeling slightly panicky! My hair is coloured, has a little bit of a natural wave, and is fine but there's plenty of it. I would recommend trying a sachet of Elasticizer first before committing to one of the large sizes (I buy it by the litre!) because not everybody loves it.

What follows is my adventure/journey with hair dyes the last couple of weeks. My hair is really dark and I wanted to be blonde without spending too much. I started dying my hair in November, I put a few shades of blonde every couple of weeks and all I got was a lovely brown-ginger colour that suit me but was not blonde nor was what I wanted. So in Boxing Day I decided to buy some peroxide bleach thingy, those that you have to but the powder and the bottle separately. I bought two and I left it extra time because I already knew my hair was difficult.... pffff... oh my! The hair was chicken yellow with orangey patches lol and so dry and weird it reminded me the stuff my grandma had to wash the dishes in the 80s. So I went to the local hairdresser to sort it out. I thought it could not be that much, and I stupidly did not ask for prices before going in. I just wanted it done. Apparently it depends who does it, and seniors charge more than juniors and so on. Well, they had to cut my long hair and attempted to cover the yellow. I spent 3h there and they charged me £125  I almost pass out there. I did not have that much money, so I had to use cc :( It was the only time I went to the hairdresser in the whole year but it costed as much as if I had been every now and then. I felt really bad but I thought it was worth since my hair looked better with their lights and the hair styling. Wrong. I have loads of hair, loads. When I tried to dry it myself I looked like something between a lion and a mushroom. :( The colour was like oats in normal light, and completely matte without the stuff they had put on. I just felt so ugly that I went to other hairdresser to sort out the cut and the colour. I had a lovely cut but they said they could not do anything with the colour since hair was so damaged blah blah blah. One week later I tried it again... yep... :rotfl:so it went again yellow, went to Ho*and and B and bought an Ash blonde which killed the orange and left it normal. Still yellowish, but a yellowish blonde without the orange bits. Now I can see the roots wanting to appear again. Idk if I should buy roots touch ups, try to use Jolen just around the hairline to disguise it and leave the roots for the next month, or go dark again and forget about this stupid idea that has costed me a fortune. I have never ever ever spent that much in a hairdresser. Not even for my wedding hair!!! I feel stupid every time I think about it. And my wallet is still in pain, since I used my emergency budget and maxed out the credit card in a couple of weeks because of silly hair. AAAARGHHH

:eek:Oh my lovely! I am so so sorry! :( To spend lots of money to get beautiful hair is one thing - to spend a fortune and not get beautiful hair at the end of it is a whole heartbreaking 'nother kettle of fish. :(

I'm a big fan of home hair dyeing. Now I do mine at home I never have to cut any off because it's in awful condition. (But I only dye whole head every two months and touch up the grey in between times.)

To go full head blonde from really dark is a difficult and unpredictable process for a colourist - at home it's hit and miss at best.

    And it's really high maintence!

Every two to three weeks you're going to have re-bleach the roots, then re-dye the roots - without overlapping on the older hair colour. That is pretty darn tricky to do on your own hair.

The only idea I've had is to go to your local hairdresser training college or hairdresser training salon and ask if they would like to use you for training.

Otherwise you'll have to face up to the fact that for you blonde is a massively expensive and time consuming commitment, and decide whether it's really worth it to you. :(

    Used up:
Dermologica gentle cream exfoliant - wiba yep. I have in stash the Dermologica daily exfoliant - it's like a powder you make into a paste. So if that runs out I'll have to get at least one of them back into my stash. I will use the S&G scrub your nose in it - in between using the others.

    Another quid into the pot!

  • Wow I need to read pages and pages:) Sunday viewing!

One in: queen of shaves gel- mine finished the other day.
Outs: three candles, shampoo (wiba? Yes! ... Herbal essences is my favourite brand). Oh and my soap and glory foaming wash - I'm back on to boring primark lemony shower gel of which I have 8 bottles!

marta, sorry to hear what you went through. I've never attempted to go blond as i just don't thing blonde is me IYKWIM.

I like the colour, it's a dark brown red, and very shiney. It's a bit redder on the roots but that's where my grey bits are and hasn't been coloured. My base colour is a mid-dark brown and i have lots of thick hair.

My OH isn't in my good books though as he hasn't commented on it yet. Though in his defence he didn't get home till half 8 last night and my hair was wet and he set off for work at half 7 this morning.

    Thanks!

 I might go for that one next time. In a week or two the roots will be visible, they have started to appear. I really do not fancy to do the roots if it is as difficult as Jacks said! It would be easier with longer hair but since my haircut now is quite short (Sarah Harding's style but in yellow and shorter fringe lol), it wlill be a nightmare to go around the back and do it properly.

I am going to start looking for offers, any 2x1 one spotted and I will go ahead with a darker colour I can easily manage. Any plum/cherry/chocolate would be fine for a couple of months at least. But I feel so stupid! :( This should teach me!

The idea of the hairdresser academy is a good one, I would look around and see what might be cheaper for the "going dark".

At least my OH was amused through the process! :rotfl:

Finally finished a Body Shop Rainforest Moisture SLS-free shampoo, part-bought with the £5 Telegraph Voucher cos they didn't have anything else cheap enough in store that I would actually use at the time! Costs £6 for 400ml.

WIBA? No definitely not. If you look beyond it's eco-credentials, a very mundane product although I don't know how it compares to other SLS-free shampoos if that's what you're particularly looking for. Difficult to get out of the bottle in the shower as it was very thick. I expect I should be bothered about SLS, but actually in my ignorance I'm not and I seem to get away with using most shampoos on my hair. So a big thumbs down from me!

UU M&S passionflower handwash, nice enough but DD has been banned from buying any more handwash as we have a set of 3 spa bubble baths from a Secret Santa that we are going to use instead, plus 3 lumps of soap, which she won't use, so I'll have to.

Does anyone else find those rough hewn lumps of soap awkward to use? A nice smooth tablet of soap is lovely for washing with, but these soaps that are roughly cut into wedge shapes or cubes with sharp corners like this http://www.lush.co.uk/products/bath/soap.html
are so difficult to use  (again!)

Splutterer, ginormous tresemme conditioner, have diluted the last dregs a bit to get them out....will go tonight hopefully!

Moving on to DD's rejected Head and Shoulders Shampoo and Conditioner for Coloured hair left-overs next (deep sigh). Her flirting with products does save me money, but is becoming deeply unsatisfying as I am realising I am no closer to achieving my aim of my pared down kit of "perfectly beautiful HG" products than I was this time last year, despite my best efforts.

Oh dear! What a moaning grump I sound today! :rotfl:

Oh Marta what a mare!! I would have been it tears. My pal got her hair dyed in a salon in Ho Chi Minh City where she is living at the mo. She wanted to be a really light blonde (she was a dark drown/reddish tone). It didn't turn out well. Apparently there isn't a word in the Vietnamese language for blonde and there aren't many who would ask for it there anyhow. The closest word is yellow and yes you guessed it her hair was dyed bright, glow in the dark, yellow. It looked like she was radioactive!! She was devastated and it too another 3 visits to the salon to rectify it. Her hair condition was shot as well. She recently reverted back to her natural hair colour and had it all chopped off to help the condition.

Finally one of my splutterers is now a UU. Olay Aqua physics night cream 50ml. WIBA - yes I would. It is suitable for all skin types and is quite light for my olly skin. Like the texture and the price :D. Got it half price in Mr M's. Only have one full size night cream left in my stash - No7 Balancing so will be opening that tonight. This is also the first £2 I will be puting in my pot for a UU.

Oh dear Marta! I think we all have horrid hair dying experiences (I vividly remember crying coming out of hair dressers when I got what I considered to be two "go faster" blond stripes down the sides of my hair as the hairdresser was too busy talking to listen to me properly). I hope you get it sorted. :o

One UU for me - Clinique Blemish Solution Blemish Gel. WIBA - maybe Was okay but I can get the same result from a product 1/3 of the price.

Did a big tidy up yesterday and threw out anything that had separated or smelled funky. I also resisted going on the shopping spree for Body Shop products.
How long til pay day?
