Sorry i had to share that
If its any help - I did too, and I wrote it !!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Oh Marta - what a shame... I just wanted to even out what my hair does normally (Im a kinda dark reddish blonde normally - and in the summer it bleaches out to blondyred - but in patches IYKWIM - all I wanted was for it to be even!) but the sun bleached out bits went a bit bonkers.... I had to lead up at cheltenham with it - was frantically trying to hide and it didnt get commented on at all.... MUCH !!!!! :rotfl: Having rung Shauna to beg her to sort it out for me,when I walked into her salon, she nearly died laughing - but she covered me in a grey rinse then brown - it came out a couple of shades darker than she was expecting it to - but I loved it !! (mind you - anything was better than the bright orange Id managed to turn it!!!!)
I tried to dye my hair plum when I was at school, with one of those cream ones in a tube (harmony??) but ended up with a purple stripe down the middle of my hair - the saving grace was that it looked really cool in a ponytail....
anyway - Im whole head brown again now (winter colour when its not dark red!) and happy bunny !!
UU - finally the orange BS butter has gone = hurrah !!!! :T:money::j now on to the clarins one i mentioned last night - hopefully that and my bubble baths will run out all at the same time, then I can become a ted baker babe
Welcome newbies !! :beer:Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
hi all
One UU - L'occitane 250ml Grapeseed oil WIBA - No it was OK but not foamy enough for me but good for my skin and nice fresh smell.
One new find when tidying up -L'occitane Fleur Cherie 75ml Shower gel.
Pleased I'd found it as I was sure I had it somewhere. Found Also 2 Deodorants and a colgatetoothpaste, so was pleased and bathroom and bedroom look tidy:T.0 -
Afternoon all.
Well I think I should have stayed in my pyjamas today.
Recently I have had a flare up of my back injury caused by slipping at work. It was finally starting to settle until I was in the middle of getting dressed. I felt something happen and have been walking around like an old woman since
Yesterday I popped into my local Boots to get some points added on. I looked at the sale stuff and left without buying anything. Today is a no spend spend day apart from paying £2 for my daughter's karate fees.
I have no use ups to report and one splutter. It is a travel size S&G shower gel. I dont need to buy any more as I have at least half a dozen full sized bottles :rotfl:
I hope you are all having a good day

Marta, my heart went out to you, I'm glad you are feeling better about your hair now. If I spot any 2 for 1 offers I will post.
I had white-blonde hair as a small child but am now dark brunette. My sister who is 62 soon has gone blonde, but I'm 9 years younger and don't think I will. My mum was Estonian and all my Estonian relatives have the same hair as me, child-fine and spaghetti straight. On the plus side they all have good skin and I've got that too, thankfully. Saves me a fortune in foundation.
Right, 2 UU's to report.
Clairol's Perfect 10 Nice and Easy hair colour in Medium Brown. WIBA Most certainly. I don't think I'll bother with the comb applicator which was its unique selling point, next time though. It might help anyone like Marta who has really thick hair. It only took 10 minutes to develop, there was no knock-you-over ammonia scent either. What it does also have is a very generous 58 ml tube of cream conditioner, to be used one wash a week for the next six weeks. The cream conditioner was really lovely to use and I am looking forward to giving my hair a weekly treat. I can now also use up the Schwarzkopf shampoo for coloured hair that I've had for a while.
Regarding the colour my hair was already very dark brown from the slight fiasco last year with L'Oreal's L'Excellence Darkest Brown which is really black under another name. So it's not what I would call medium brown, but this will lighten and it is a very liveable colour.
Second UU A 30 ml handbag size tube of Nivea's Q 10 hand cream. WIBA No, but that's not because it's not good. It is and if anyone needs hand cream the buy 100 ml get little 30 ml tube free packs are still in Savers. However, others (Dove Pro-Age, Neutrogena Norwegian Formula) are better imo, though this does have UV filters which are a good selling point. It is slightly sticky after application, which the others aren't.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... UU 1: Body Shop Carrot Cream WIBA? I'm unsure. I love it on my dry skin. But it has no SPF and I'm worried about any sun damage. Plus I have a few other face creams to try first. Any suggestions for good face creams with SPF?
Not totally caught up with the thread yet, but saw this and thought i'd reply.
I'm using the carrot moisturiser atm, i like it for my dry skin too, but don't feel that it does anything special.
As for spf, i use foundation with spf in it, have you thought of that perhaps?0 -
To go full head blonde from really dark is a difficult and unpredictable process for a colourist - at home it's hit and miss at best.
And it's really high maintence!
Every two to three weeks you're going to have re-bleach the roots, then re-dye the roots - without overlapping on the older hair colour. That is pretty darn tricky to do on your own hair.
The only idea I've had is to go to your local hairdresser training college or hairdresser training salon and ask if they would like to use you for training.
Otherwise you'll have to face up to the fact that for you blonde is a massively expensive and time consuming commitment, and decide whether it's really worth it to you.
Hello
My first post on the forum!
My mum is naturally a brunette and home-dyes blonde with good results. It's short hair so not so expensive. I'm not sure exactly what's the process it but the big part is that she got dad to do it. The results are much better as if she was doing it herself. My dad knows nothing about cosmetics and beauty but he's really good at dyeing as it's more technical. So Marta should attempt to train her man! With 1 dye every 2-3 weeks he will be an expert in no time.0 -
nothing to report today, had a tidy out yesterday when the forums were down and found a few bits and pieces-if it wasnt for all my books and toiletries i could pull off the minalism look :P. its fine im not going to go out and bin items just to rebuy them a few months down the line when i run out..oh with the clinque offer at debenhams is it only clinque mascaras they except? mother has a few old boots no7,collection 2000 etc(not the old collection 2000 packaging but the packaging before that)£365 a year spend challenge - this has included food/clothes/beauty?? who knows where I am

Does anyone else find those rough hewn lumps of soap awkward to use? A nice smooth tablet of soap is lovely for washing with, but these soaps that are roughly cut into wedge shapes or cubes with sharp corners like this http://www.lush.co.uk/products/bath/soap.html
are so difficult to use  (again!)
I am a complete Lush addict...except for their soaps! I have loads and i never ever touch them! Get them in gift sets, and i have the odd limited edition ones i've bought, purely because they were limited edition!!
Mostly because i don't really like soap, we have liquid handwash in the bathroom and kitchen, and shower gels for the bath and shower. I just never really see where they fit in...but i am going to have to make a start if i want to use them up!
A tip i've heard is to cut them in smaller, easier to use chunks. Although i think i might have to buy a knife for this, as i doubt my mum would be happy with me using her kitchen knifes to cut up soap!
The only thing about this is storing it once it's been cut, mines are all still in their original packaging or wrapped in cling film, so i think i might have to invest in a couple of click seal type food storage boxes to keep them in.0 -
I've been following this forum for a few months and working hard to use up all the products. My main weakness is make-up, which I only started using regularly recently. I feel much more attractive since the start of the challenge, and also learned a lot about how to use the products.
Somebody said that this thread is a big temptation, I agree! Went to Body Shop today to check out seaweed cream - luckily I got dissappointed. This cream is full of silicons, which leave your skin feeling soft and velvety smooth, but stay on the surface instead of penetrating. That's why the Tea Tree one (another culprit) is only £6. Silicons are a barrier against pollution but don't let your skin breathe, and may clog it. They are not 'real' moisturisers, so I won't be buying. Yay! (if anybody wants to watch out for silicones, their names end with -ane or -one. If these ingredients are one of the first ones on a list, it means that there's a lot of them in the product).
The list of Ingredients for BS Seaweed Mattyfying Moisture Lotion SPF15 (in brackets BS explanation of ingredients, with advertising edge). I marked silicones in bold.
Aqua (Water) (Solvent/Diluent), Octyl Methoxycinnamate (Sunscreen), Cyclopentasiloxane (Skin-Conditioning Agent/Emollient), Octyl Salicylate (Sunscreen), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate (Emulsifier), Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Avobenzone) (Sunscreen), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), Phenyl Trimethicone (Emollient/Hair Conditioner), Butylene Glycol (Humectant), Cetyl Dimethicone (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Potassium Cetyl Phosphate (Surfactant/Emulsifying Agent), PEG-12 Dimethicone (Hair Conditioning Agent/Skin Conditioning Agent), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Triethanolamine (pH Adjuster), Tapioca Starch (Viscosity Increasing Agent), Carbomer (Stabiliser/Viscosity Modifier), Cetyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Parfum (Fragrance), Methylparaben (Preservative), Zinc Gluconate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Hydrolysed Algin (Phycosaccharide Anti-Inflammation) (Soothing agent), Zinc Sulphate (Cosmetic Astringent), Tetrasodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Butylparaben (Preservative), Ethylparaben (Preservative), Propylene Glycol Alginate (Binder), Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein (Skin/Hair Conditioning Agent), Sodium Stearate (Surfactant), Fucus vesiculosus (Bladderwrack Extract) (Skin Conditioning Agent), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Isobutylparaben (Preservative), Propylparaben (Preservative), Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Fragrance Ingredient), Benzyl Salicylate (Fragrance Ingredient), Benzyl Alcohol (Preservative), Acacia senegal (Film Former), Serine (Skin Conditioning Agent), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Fragrance Ingredient), Tocopherol (Antioxidant).
I've got 73 toiletries in my stash at the moment, but I'm in the middle of moving flats, and that's only a tip of the iceberg that I took with me..0 -

Like the idea of cutting them into chunks.
Do you think they'll last OK though, once out of their packaging, as long as they're in an airtight container???0
