  • Would anyone know a phone number or address for a MOT Centre either in Walsall or Wolverhampton please.

I have tried to number for Walsall, unfortunately it is a dead line.

    Thanks in advance.

Had my MOT test done yesterday at the workshop at Clare Road, Cardiff (Tel: 02920 343581).

Absolutely 1st class service from G Mackie and everyone else I spoke to there was also very pleasant. Highly recommended.

Cost was £40 and it was done in approx. 1 hour while I went for a stroll about town.

Forgot the most important bit didn't I.

It failed initially as both headlights needed adjusting, but they were all done for me (gratis) when I returned along with a new pass MOT certificate.

    Great :D.
  • Following up my earlier post, my car failed at the first attempt. The service at the centre is no frills, but there is a seatting area with a drinks machine, and the staff were efficient.

The car failed with one fault, but the friendly tester actually advised me on how to do the simple repair myself! Being without a trolley jack and axle stands I subsequently got phone quotes for the repair varying from £50 to £100.

Got the repair done (£50!) and the centre retested at short notice on the tenth working day after the original test. This Money Saving Expert tip is great advice if you don't have a good relationship with a garage.

And, I'm afraid, even sometimes when you do!

  • I know other people have asked the same thing before and there hasn't been any replies but does anyone know if there's a council MOT test centre in central or south Manchester?
Oldham and Bury seem to be the only 2 in Greater Manchester that have been suggested.
I'd really appreciate anyone who could point towards one a bit closer to home

    Thanks,

    Jon.

Have an oil change at National Tyres-Bargain at £22 anyway, then your on their database, you will soon get coupons for a £35 MOT.
  • Can anyone recommend somewhere unbiased and fair in Derby or in the southern half of the county? The two council centres are Chesterfield and Buxton which is far too far. Not too bothered about the initial fee more about getting a fair result with no unnecessary repairs.
