Echo that, if your vehicle was involved in an accident and police investigation found your vehicle was not in a roadworthy state, you could not hold your MOT certificate up in defence. Weekly checks should be carried out on tyre conditions, oil, coolant & washer levels, wipers, lights etc.

A fairly recent case locally where a driver was claiming for whiplash injuries was thrown out before reaching court, after it was revealed that both (and only) brake lights were inoperative at the time of incident. These are checks which are vital to road safety, never put moneysaving above safety! :naughty::D

Have to wonder whether that was poor maintenance or one of those scamsters who slam on the brakes while their lights are out.

Have you looked on this article? There are 3 in Suffolk

Also look in yellow pages and find your council number for transport, ring and ask them for the local council run mot station number.

Powys County Council's testing station is at:-
    Ffrwdgrech DSO Depot
    Ffrwdgrech Industrial Estate
    Brecon
    Powys
    LD3 8DR

Tel. [strike]0845 607 6060 [/strike]and ask to be put through to the Vehicle Maintenance workshops in Brecon.

Or try the geo number instead of the rip off 0845 number:-
    01597 826000
Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition

  • Does anyone know of a reputable MOT test centre in Bromley, does the council have one?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, took my 4 year old Astra to Just MOTs in Tunbridge Wells yesterday. It passed, cost me £40. The guys were really friendly and even replaced a bust brake light bulb gratis. Can't recommend them highly enough.
    :j They made my day.

    Hi folks,

For people out with central Edinburgh, or just wish to avoid the Edinburgh traffic, the Midlothian Council MOT test centre is located in Bonnyrigg:

    80b High Street
    Bonnyrigg

    Tel: 0131 660 3486

The usual is a wait of 1 week for an appointment.

Just got my '94 golf done at the Edinburgh centre. Despite me checking all my lights last night, one wasn't working during the test. They just replaced it free of charge, so got through with flying colours, (a relief after having to replace my exhaust system last year - holes all over it).
  • In Coventry, the City Council depot (259 London Rd, Coventry, CV3 4AR) charges £35 for MOT. They do not do repairs. There is a choice of up to 4 time slots a day (Mon-Fri, 7am, 8am, 10am, 11am), and you need to book in advance by phoning 024 76832147.
