Good luck to you all, i am a big fan of the cambridge diet, it helped me loose the 2.5 stone in 2009, since then i have used in as the odd meal replacement to keep my weight under control, but like i said over the last 4 months i have let a stone creep back on, my hubby took a photo of me last night and it was not a pretty picture!!

1 tip for anyone doing cambridge or or other quick loss diets or even if you can just afford to treat yourself, use bio oil, it really helped my skin look a bit more normal, at first my tummy looked worse but thankfully now its ok ;-)

Does bio oil really work? Since having my son my tummy looks hideous. He was such a huge baby (nurses said he looked 4 months old when he was born :rotfl:) that it just destroyed my tummy area. Now it is flabby, riddled in stretchmarks and just plain odd to look at! I know it won't improve the flabbyness but if it would help with the stretchmarks and general appearance then it would be worth it.

Some things I will be doing this week -
    • Start a food journal. I have set this up on Excel. It's just a simple sheet listing what I have eaten over each day but I hope it will make me think about it a bit more. If I stray and have any choccies, biscuits etc I'm going to colour the box red to alert me to danger!
    • Weigh myself, either today or tomorrow, whenever I'm feeling bravest :o
    • Go through some old photos and find pictures of me looking how I want to look now. I'm going to keep them together and look at them whenever I feel my willpower is slipping. Funny though, I was a size 8-10 when I met DH 12 years ago and I still wasn't happy with my body. If I can get back to a size 10 I'll really appreciate it this time!

I heard once that taking a photo of the food you are about to eat helps with making that decision whether to eat it - or at least helps you identify where the calories are that you are filling up on are coming from.

I have always thought that it would be a fun thing to do. digital cam at home, adding the pics to a food diary - shows how big you are putting your portions, and using a mobile phone away from home. If your friends are in on it you could find some funny pictures winging their way to you!!!! lol

You can then look back at this diary and really see over time what you are eating - not just writing down. I did try it once, but kept forgetting to photo my plate - what am I like! lol

    Hi all,

Here is a tip that can work for some of you.

Get hold of some very dark coloured material or paper - black is best and put it underneath your plate e.g. table mat, tray cloth, table cloth etc.

Also put dark papers anywhere there is food - inside a lunchbox, line the cupboards, put it on your fridge door (held up by magnets) or inside the fridge.

Even before I came across this idea, I found it difficult to use a dark coloured mug and I can't abide square plates, even looking at one makes me feel on edge :)
  • Can I join too please?:) Seriously need to shift this weight.

Never had much success with diets - mainly no willpower :o. Did Atkins for a while a few years ago with some degree of success but that was before I had children and now I can't seem to sustain it for more than a few days :o. At the moment, I am not sure yet which one to follow - need to do some research to see what regime I can live with, without going off the rails. Need something that will fit in with meals I do for hubby and 3 children too

Before I saw this thread, I had good intentions this morning but there is still too much in the way of Christmas goodies in the house - too tempting :o

Boys are back at school Tuesday, I will be doing my weekly shop then too and I can get back into a routine and will (hopefully) have decided on my plan of action; so that will be my start date.

I going to go back to Zumba (which I let lapse during December) and have taken up playing netball and am going to dust off my air walker

I hope this thread will keep me on the straight and narrow :)
It's easier to get forgiveness than to ask permission ;)

So what do I need to measure? Weight in kg or stones and lbs?
Do I measure any other bits of me?
Is the first goal the first week in Feb or will it be every monday?

I think most of us are just putting our weight - in a variety. I've put stone and lbs, just because I understand what that means more in terms of what I should be.
But maybe we should be measuring things as well like our stomachs? I was on this exercise programme a while ago and he measured around the belly button because if you do the thinnest part, it could actually be different parts of your body you measure, but your belly button won't move, so think I'm going to keep track of that as well. Even if my weight doesn't go down as quick as I want, maybe my measurements will!
