Just been out to do another bit of my area. Seems to be lots of houses with no cold calling stickers in the window or on the door, and I mean LOADS. I erred on the side of caution and didn't canvas these houses. Just wondered where Avon reps stand on this?
Some of my customers also have this on their windows.
When you are canvassing do you knock or just post the book through the door and run?
i always put a ticksheet in the front of the bag when i am first canvassing a house with 3 options A) Yes please, i would like to receive an avon book approx. every 3-6 weeks.sorry but i already have an avon rep. and C) Thank you, but I would not like to receive avon books at this time.
Most of the time people will not bother ticking a box at all, but you will find those who are really anti-anything-that-goes-through-their-letterbox-apart-from-post, will make a point of ticking a box!!
Atleast if you do this you have given them the chance to let you know if they do not want books.
If they leave the books out for you but dont order then continue to canvass them until you think they have had enough or they say something to you, or they order!! :T
If they do not leave your book out for you and you have left them a note and returned and they still dont leave it out, then i wouldnt bother canvassing for a few months.

Thought I'd share my "magic" note that I stapled to books going to new streets:
Books dropped: 30
Houses that ticked a box: 12 (11 were nos, but if they weren't interested they weren't and it's best to know asap). 12/30 is a much higher proportion than I'm used to.
Number of times I had to knock for books (and got a reply): 4
Number of reminders left: 8 - much, much lower number than last time. I think it was about half that needed reminders before. And hardly any of those left the book out. I think one of those houses is empty.
Total number of nos: 15 (that includes tick-boxes and talking to people at the door). This number could go up when I collect the reminders in this evening.
New customers: 2
So the number of new customers wasn't great, but I'm so pleased to only have 8 reminders (8 potential lost books). Even the high number of nos means I can focus on the rest. It encouraged people to give me a definitive answer. I only picked up a few books yesterday where they hadn't ticked the form.
Now it's just a case of working on my regulars, some of whom are still getting reminders. I've done a similar note for them saying "Please leave brochure out for collection on Sunday..." then there's space for the date. I can leave the note attached and get several uses out of it because there's lots of space for a new date to be written.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Just picked up my C4 and backorder C3's. Very poor ordering this time with less than 50% value of orders against the previous campaign. Was sort of expecting it as I think they all went mad last brochure!
Looking forward to the longer campaigns as I think 2 weeks is too short for most customers (although I missed C2).
Will be spending time on canvassing next week and thinking positive thoughts! Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

I just a yes/no box thing. Many people don't bother ticking the box which is sooo annoying!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
I,Geek, your picture is soo helpful! wish I had have done something like that! done all my roads now due to collect in on tuesday. Do you do that for every single campaign or ust the first time you canvas an area?Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0

Looks like I've got my customers well trained, Been delivering and everyone was in and waiting with their money!!!
Just got to try and train myself now. How do you ladies manage to stop yourself ordering loads for yourselves???0 -
I just use the "don't throw away" one for the first canvas. I think some people do chuck them without realising, thinking that it makes no difference to me (Avon pays for my books or something). I've just realised that the note doesn't mention I have to pay for them. My reminder note does, just to guilt people into leaving them out
.
There's a "brochure collection day" one for people every campaign after that, even regular customers. I've found that all but a couple of customers have forgotten on at least one occasion to leave it out. I nearly always get them back, but it means a second trip out. I thought I was training my customers but think I'll have to step it up a level with the use of big, bold letters.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

I usually arrange my 2nd pick up for the forgetters on the date I drop off the collected ones last time
if that makes sense...
I might nick some of your ideas I, Geek - I do something slightly different but I like some of yours so might merge the two
Also want to re-rig my news letter - Want to get it down to an a5 page instead of A4... or make it two sided... hmmmm *thinking cap on*DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
