Any advice on the other half coming clean !
She is going to register for tax, she rang the tax office and they said just write in a covering letter and she wont be liable for tax and wont have to fill in a tax return great !
However on registering for the NI exempt form they need a date you started employment which is 4 years ago, would she have to pay NI for 4 years if we put the correct date , do they check ?
She is very worried at the moment and thinking of jacking it in because of this0 -
deanos, before everyone starts thinking they can do the same and won't be liable for tax, your OH has different circumstances to most of us ? I would say that is the case which is why the IR (inland revenue) have said she needs to write a covering letter and won't be liable for tax.
If OH's earnings are below the threshold, I think £2,000 per annum? Will need to check the first post on the first page, then she can complete an exemption form for not having to pay NI.0 -
May I suggest if anyone requires anything, they use the Facebook page to request items please?
There was a thread just before Christmas, where someone told us they were in dire straights with young children, and no money coming in, benefits wouldn't come through for a while, etc, etc. and I know from the way people were posting they sent food, clothes and probably money to this poster. And then the poster stopped posting.... people asked again and and again if they were ok, and to let everyone know how they were getting on, but all went quiet
Which is EXACTLY why MSE do not allow us to exchange details, swap/sell/offer free items.
believe me, there are some VERY strange people on MSE! I have seen first hand how STRANGE they are.0 -

She does not work so that's probably why the said she could just write in a letter we told them how much she earns
As for the NI yes i know about the threshold but it goes back 4 years, when she first stated the avon manager said not to worry as she does not earn enough, she is worried if she has to back pay 4 years as the form says you can only go back 13 weeks for exemption0 -

I think it is not so much that she does not work, as much as she is self employed but her earnings with Avon are below the threshold for tax
let me look into it and I will PM you later, is that ok?

Yes that's fine thanks0

I know a friend of mine was told the same some years ago but not sure if it has changed... I DO know that I get an exemption certificate as I pay NI on my full time earnings and earn too little as SE to have to pay for it there too
Confused the living daylights out of me!
Did have pleasant surprise from HMRC last week - £427 in my bank account after I sent off my self assesment - due to being taxed at full rate when I was actually on maternity leave most of that tax year lol I've put it in a bank account apart from the rest of my money JUST in case they change their mind!!! Do you actually 'flag' your books that way? Am, obviously, a bit of a nerd because am not sure I like to see the pages creased.... Wonder if placing a post-it tab and/or a bookmark might work (or am I being stupid)?
At the moment no I don'tI tried using cheap freezer bags and I just don't like how it looks! So I use Avons own bags where you'd need to squidge the pages over if you flagged them. Instead I do a News Letter with mine - ok yes it costs me a little more but the amount of people who have been won over after shoddy Avon Reps experiences round here when the rep never delivered the order etc is high - it shows I'm committed and professional and it seems to be working - and nearly all my books that I have gotten back the news letter looks to have been read even if they don't order
I put details of current offers, my suggested products (usually money makers!) and any special things that I offer/do/incetivise etc
Apparently though Avon is changing their bags to be longer to accomodate the order form - if that's true then I will start doing itIt IS effective but I hate having squidged corners lol
