I also had trouble with paying my bill, 1st try refused, 2nd try cancelled. Think this was down to sheer numbers of peeps on the site. Managed to pay it after midnight so hopefully not held up my order. Avon - grrrr!
Very good advice, which I pass on to all my team. I was once trying to input my order 15 mins before the deadline and the website was really playing up, as you say, prob due to sheer numbers. Never again!
One of my team members has also had a lot of problems paying her a/c online; once when she had to have two attempts it ended up 'reserving' the amount in her a/c somehow as well as actually paying her a/c. So.... check your bank a/c very carefully; it caused her mega probs.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

I was thinking of becoming an avon rep. I can see from this thread that a lot of people make little to no money (or end up in debt!) but what I was wondering was what is the situation at christmas time? I mean, surely customers snap up gift sets. Do any reps make a reasonable amount of commission at christmas that would make it worth it?
Just to add to what others have already said, it's the 'fringe benefits' of being an Avon rep that are equally as important as income i.e. as a rep:
* you have the whole of Avon's product range to try - free! :j
* 90 day no-quibble guarantee (try it, use it, return it if you don't like it) :j:j
* clearance products always available (C10 there are shower gels from 50p!) :j:j:j
Lots of other ways to earn more than 25% commission too

Well.... I think I have made the shortest SL ever!
I signed up 15 ish days ago and have now resigned, no ASM in my area, no support and no books yet they still wanted me to be a SL and sign people up! I had managed to work out the mapping system, etc myself but the final straw was no books. I can do alot but not sign up people and give them no books!
Just sent an email to the ASM that I was in touch with from another area and asked her to de-activate my SL account.
Back to being a rep again!

My 1st order is due to arrive tomorrow, so thought I'd have a quick peek on website to see status.
It says 'prepared' and 6 boxes:eek:
2 problems I've just noticed:
- I did a spend over £25 & get free gift offer. Chose an item from the clearance section, went through order fine. Just seen on bottom it shows them as OOS. So now, I have no free gift to give my customers as I haven't yet built up any reserves
- I was ordering from C8 as those were the books SL gave me. Must have accidentally not clicked the C8 button on one item, so now charged £2 more per the C9 price.
I realise 2nd one my fault, so prob can't do anything, but any ideas on first problem. Fortunately, I know both people who placed order over £25, but doesn't look good first time.
Otherwise, so excited about getting my first delivery. Books for C10 (skipping C9) are already out, due to be picked up tom.Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -
to give ideas of potential earnings.... i have been a rep for 2.5 years.. on my last self assessment i earnt £1,950 (approx) for that tax year from avon... this was working about 8-16 hours a week on average and making sales of approx £10,000. This past year my sales were £12,500 for 16 hours + work and i estimate to have earnt £3,500
Time wise though it all depends on your situation - I spent 4.5 hours delivering 20 orders last night!! thats the problem with becoming an established rep... people stop to talk to you! suddenly your earning less per hour because you can be on someones doorstep for 30 mins being polite and theyve placed a £2.50 order so your getting pennies for all that time! lol - BUT i do also get the ones where i knock and the hubby pokes a £10 note round the door, grabs the bag and says bye and shuts the door in my face every time.... so thats £2.50 profit for a 20 second interaction:rotfl:
If you ever work your time out per hour... you will resign. I am forced to do this as avon is my main job and i claim working tax credit so always divide my earnings by 16 hours a week or 48 hours a campaign... (although i often do more) its quite disheartening to see £1-2 an hour earnings.
Has anyone else noticed a decrease in sales compared to last year??
My sales have plummeted compared to last years. was looking over my sales records from this time last year and my average value order was £18-22... since christmas my average order is £7-11!! I have had an increase in £1 - £2 orders (the odd lipstick or handwash) too which obviously are as important as a £20 order and i appreciate any order but is frustrating TOO as processing and deliverings 5 x £20 orders is much easier and time efficient than 20 x £5 orders or 50 x £2 ones!!0 -

- Its not an avon present.. but since you only have 2 customers who did spend that much could you go the supermarket or something and buy 2 little boxes of chocolates and give them them?

what item did you wrongly order? Its worth looking at future books and seeing if it goes back down to that price it was in c8.... then order it when it at that price again (aslong as its within the next 90 days) and claim credit for the one you ordered this time... sending back the item you get delivered in the future as though it is the one you have now?? Lol Sorry i know that sounds really confusing so i apologise!!:rotfl:0 -

Sorry to hear you had a bad time as a SL..... lack of support is one of our companies fundamental unfortunetly.
Id focus on the rep side of things for a while and see if your ASM situation changes and maybe then try again if you feel it is right for you?0 -

Thanks - that does make sense! It's the Diamond Dazzle eyeliner - not sure how to check what price it is in the future. I've managed to put all my C10 brochures through doors and not kept one!!
Think I will print a nice IOU note for the free gifts. I ordered some handcream which was only about 75p, so seems a bit of a cheap amount to give off a next order. Does it happen often that clearance stocks run out when it shows as ok on your order? Guess I should order a few extra bits just incase? Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -
Yeah definitely order extra bits in case, and order the extra bits from the current brochure as they will most likely have tonnes of them in stock. Unfortunately the HT clearance is first come first served, so even if its shows ok when you submit, by the time your order is packed it might be out of stock.
The stock indicators are indicators only - my last order I had a camera showing as out of stock, along with kids detangler sprays (all from the C9 sale booklet). However, they all turned up fine, but a kids conditioner that was showing as ok is now "to follow".
It's always worth extra a few extra bits - afterall you can return them.
I'd see if whoever you joined with has a couple of bits that you could buy from them. If they're a SL they're bound to have some bits in stock - I have enough to open a shop lol. Or as Johanne says, give them a little box of chocs or even a cheap bunch of flowers - something will look better than an IOU xAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

Sounds much like me when I first became a SL - asm was off sick, not that I knew, found out from someone else! - as I'm stubborn though I stuck with it and while it meant I got off to a slow start, I managed in the end. Hoepfully if you get a new asm (it will happen, if they don't do well, they get replaced) then they'll be keener to help SL and you could give it another go. It's very frustrating that while avon promotes themselves as the company where you're in business for yourself, but not by yourself - and yet so many asms ignore so many of their reps & SL! THankfully, more asms seem to be realising that having happy reps & SLs is beneficial to them, but the asms who have been around for a while and are stuck in their ways don't seem to have realised that yet!:mad:Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0
