Now I've just got an abusive phone call from a pensioner who said I was threatening her because I put a calling card though and ticked "called for your brochure", underlined "call me" with my details and then wrote "Order is being placed on Wednesday by 9pm" She'd obviously misread it or what I'd written was too ambiguous so I apologised for making her feel that way, she said she had left the book out (It wasn't there otherwise I would have picked it up!), took her address and agreed never to put a book through again. That is the first abusive person I've had in 129 houses, its just taken me by surprise that it was a pensioner
In my experience it's always the pensioners that are the worst, don't get me wrong I've got some lovely customers that are pensioners but all the 'grumpys' I've met along the way where pensioners.
I've got a lovely man on my territory - he's 95 and still lives on his own - he only buys the men's body sprays but he told me that he'l always support a local rep if they're reliable as his wife used to do Avon many years ago and it always paid for their holidays.0 -

:rotfl: Which is exactly why I don't want to be a member of any club which would have me as a member
I entirely agree - so many pensioners are miserable and can talk about nothing but how dreadful the world is today (oh, & their aches, pains, and operations )
Having said that though, I too had some lovely pensioners on my area, but unfortunately they're in the minority it seems!

Has anyone got an example of a spreadsheet to use for recording campiagn orders? really need to find a way to record!
If it's any help, I used Excel with a new sheet for each campaign (sheet named with campaign number & date of delivery for easy checking after the event).
Each sheet had column headings for door number/address, customer name, amount of campaign order, then 2 narrow columns to tick when packed & delivered, plus a last column for notes.
Amount column totalled at the bottom so I could enter as orders came in & keep a running total of that campaign's orders. The sheet could also be printed out as a check list for deliveries. You could also set it to take off the amount for brochures etc and leave you with a total for earnings. I would have been happy to send you mine, but it obviously contains lots of information about my customers, which I don't feel I should share.

Aww thats sweetThats the thing though, this is the third time I'd knocked  I went round the estate on two separate occasions Monday morning before coming home, getting calling cards that said "I'll call back tonight after 6pm" so those who were out at work could be covered and knocking on doors at lunch time in the hopes that people who won't answer of a night would answer then. I put a card through her door as there was no answer, called again that night and got no reply again so I put a card through saying "I'll call back tomorrow night after 7.30pm" (I do voluntary work Tuesday & Wednesday day times in a school so can't collect during the day then). Knocked tonight, no answer left the card saying the order will be going in tomorrow (okay so its Thursday but that leaves me with CO time) and then within an hour of me getting home I get that phone call!
The problem probably wasnt the last message, but the fact you've posted three cards through her letterbox may seem a bit "pushy". She may have misplaced the book (I've done that before now!), been away for a few days, or just thought you'd have got the hint she wasnt interested.
Is it really vital to get every book back? Just wondered, because personally I wouldnt want to look through a book that stank of cigs, was damaged, or had got wet, for example.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -

Its the first time I've canvassed that estate so wanted to make sure that I had spoken to or collected from everyone there. I knocked during the day with no answer & again that evening with no answer, but because I called at 6pm I thought it might have been someone who was still out at work so called back the following evening. There's another 4 houses who have received 3 cards and I've not heard anything from them so I'll just not put a book through those doors next time.
As for getting every book back, I don't expect to get every one back and I often get them back stinking of cigs, damaged or as was the case yesterday, bitten through by a dog  I don't give those damaged out again, but the ciggy smelling ones I leave to "air" and then spray with some perfume which is from the Avon:rotfl: 2 birds, 1 stone in my opinion (promoting the perfume & covering up the smell :rotfl:)

Oo very excited got 128 new houses to canvass
not had any new in 2 years lol. Shall have to come up with a new letter to put with the books as I know it was vacant in January, then taken, now free again. So they've probably been messed about a bit so shall let them know we've been with Avon for over 2 years, they get free gifts and that we give a reliable service. I'll win them over in time lol. Hoping to deliver this weekend for collection early next week so that they're done this campaign, probably got enough c5 books left to cover most houses in one drop.
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0
