Hi everyone, I have just been reading this thread.
I was approached buy an Avon Slaes Leader last week and she came to my house etc and talked me through everything, i signed up n she left me 20 brocures to give out, but my territory only has 16 houses.

im scared i might not be able to get this minimum order of £78 for my first time, and so i'm worried if Avon will let me do it again if not.
Does anyone know the answer and can someone please help me.

    I'm stuck in a rut

Hi, welcome to the thread! Put an extra order form or 2 in each book and make a note to say 'in case you have friends or family who would like to order' or something similar
Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???
  • Thinks connect is the best way, although that doesn't always show your nearest rep. Whereabouts in the country are you ?
im in the manchester area. tried connect bt it wouldnt let me contact reps

Money Maker - I didn't do a MM on the Solutions things - so seeing 3 appear on order forms made me think I should give one a go. On the one hand, I haven't sold many fragrances so maybe people won't be interested. On the other, if people haven't bought one for a while/ever from me they're probably going to want one eventually. I think the scents and design of these fragrances will appeal to all ages. Outspoken and the Bond Girl ones might be seen as too young for some people, and Soft Musk and Far Away are "older" :o scents.

That £5 rep bag on ebay's a bargain. Even if it was free and they sent it second class/standard parcels I don't think they'll have broken even on it.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.
  • I know, the samples where all Anew stuff though which I'm not to keen on giving out in case I give people the wrong ages! On the plus side I'm probably being over cautious with them so am flattering them all :D

I wish I'd have given the MM a go on the eye rollers, sold 3 already and have still to collect the books from my regulars and then do more territory - still live and learn and all that.

Hang around there's sure to be someone from Manchester around these parts

  • Hi TD, unless the Car Boot Sale is a very regular venue then my reference to 'taking orders' was really meant just as a cover ;) Have never done one myself but certainly know one rep, who sells regularly in this way. Guess, as ever, it comes down to 'what the eye doesn't see, the heart doesn't grieve'.

As for bending the rules, seems to me that is now quite commonplace - by Avon employees/Managers as well as us self-employed.

Am interested in your comment that people give up over the returns issue.... in my book it's no hardship to do a bit of paperwork to return goods and provided you apply for credit before your invoice falls due then really don't see the problem. In fact, sometimes there are definite advantages..... ;)
I am beginning to think I did a good thing getting out when I did, although it was down to ill health.

The Returns System has always been a minefield and despite numerous changes, mostly for the better a number of reps just couldn't get to grips with it. I was always in trouble for spending too much time on 1st 3 appointments with a new rep, but it always paid off. Sales Leaders must find the same problems, but a litlle bit of extra help in the beginning means less help further down the line. Good reps are the ones that have had good training.

Sounds like you are doing a great job, I could have done with a few more like you. It will certainly pay off in the long run.

My Area's mantra was 'anywhere, anytime, always, ask'. I could be used for a number of tasks, but was particularly useful for new reps.

My own one was 'if at first you don't succeed, try, try again'. Sounds like yours too.

she did it a few good years ago and no idea how the process was then, it may not have as easy as phoning with the barcode.

my friend did avon years ago and you had to pay avon all the money and they would send you your commission after they had calculated it, she said she gave up as they didn't send her her commission one month.

so not always black and white.

And..... MC! Start teaching these people how to run their own business! Not running it for them!

Blimey that must have been sometime a go your friend did it then, as I have done it 17 yrs and never done it different to what we do now !

Placed my c5 order yesterday of around £600 which is quite good as I did that on c4 so thought they wouldn't spend as much this time round.

I dd remember when we could send stuff back indefintely, and no it still didn't make my treasure box(es!) any smaller :rotfl:
