if you were registered as self employed before April 2010, then you needed to submit your Self Employment Assessment in April 2010, or any time after that, until the deadline of 31 January 2011.

If you registered as self employed after 10 April 2010, you only need to submit you self assessment from 10 April 2011. You will then get notification from the tax office.

With NI, the National Insurance office will send you details again.

Thanks so much for your help! I only registered in august when I started as a rep so I have a while yet :) Do you know if I need to keep petrol receipts to claim for milage (my territory isn't where I live) I have been keeping most of them (when I remember!) but have loads now and obviously not all my petrol is used for avonning!

Thanks again for your help, you're a star!

yes, you should keep all your petrol receipts when you fill up for Avoning. You need to clearly indicate when you filled up for avon by highlighting the receipt. Or if you filled up and used a percentage of the petrol for Avoning, you need to indicate this on the receipt. HTH

Yes but in relation to the persons question the fact that the reps displayed arent necessarily close by was relevant as they were worried that having reps showing up meant they wouldn't be able to sell much, but the fact that the reps might be quite a way away was useful info for them.
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A

What to do is write down the mileage on your speedometer before you go out Avon-ing and write the mileage down when you return home, so if for example, when you leave home your mileage is at 10500 and you come home it is 10525 then you drove 25 miles doing Avon. I add this onto my spreadsheet in this format:

    10000 10025 25

Keep ALL your fuel receipts, especially if you have a good accountant.

Also make sure you keep receipts for shoes and clothes you buy in connection with your business (that goes for any business) as you do a lot of walking, you will wear out shoes quicker, you need to be properly dressed (i.e. you need warm clothes in winter etc.) and that is also tax offsetable. Anything you buy in relation to your business, pens, pencils, printer ink, paper etc. you can offset against your tax.

It might be worth your while asking your tax office if they run one day courses to teach you how to do your tax returns. They will show you everything you can offset against your tax.

    Hope this helps.

  • Getting really cheesed off now.

One of my customers ordered a bracelet from me a while ago, but she was buying it as a pressie for her mum. So when her mum gets it and puts it on it fell apart. No problem - return it, right?
The invoice is no longer showing on my account so I emailed avon, the first reply I got was totally unrelated to what I asked them. So I emailed them again, this time they said 'no problem we've arranged the replacement, its showing on your account' check my account they've done replace an eyeliner with a blinking necklace!!'

And everything I sent back last month has been recharged on this invoice.

Very quiet in here today, wonder if everyone's buried under huge piles of orders ;)

WHUMP!!!! Just kicked your bum :rotfl:

I start training as an SL at the end of this month. I lost my regular job last year, couldn't get another job, got bored so signed up with Avon. Best thing I've done yet. Thoroughly enjoying it and building up a good customer base.

I intend to do Avon full-time. My family are all grown up so I've got plenty of time on my hands to do it.

    Good luck to you :D

email them with the barcode from your return and tell them you have returned all the items. They can check and will credit you again.

sorry about the other stuff. Maybe you could try again? Or if you have a good SL, get her to do it for you. Speak to them directly.
