  • Got to disagree there. As I said, basic transport is reasonable - giving them a Merc or a Beemer isn't.

What I said was perfectly true wasn't it?
  • I'm sure it would save a lot of money, but in my opinion it's a reasonable price to pay for the disabled to have some chance of getting out and about.

But only if it's a basic car (with mods where medically required), NOT luxury motoring. If they want a fancy motor, they should have to pay like the rest of us.

Well that's why life on benefits is so good.
  • Maybe the government will look at this when (if) they bring in the 'no-one on benefits will be better off than a worker' business?

Agreed, but who's to decide what constitutes a 'luxury' car? I would consider a BMW, Merc etc a luxury car but I know others who think a Mondeo is.
  • Well, surely there should be a list of very basic models (the cheapest) that they can select from (and perhaps a cheap van for wheelchair users?)

Just a reminder to those of you who have been living in a cave recently - there's going to be a VAT increase from 17.5% - 20% on January 4th which would mean a rise of around 3p a litre - there's also a fuel duty increase due on 1st January of around 0.75p so I'm filling up on the way home from work tonight assuming there's not a huge queue!

If you're anywhere near empty probably worth filling up now instead of waiting until next week.

    Happy New Year!

Its getting silly now everyday i pass the petrol station and the prices have gone up the thing is that retailers will be complaining that now one is buying stuff well its hardly suprising is it really when we are getting ripped off at the pumps

When will this madness end !!!!!!.

That'd be good but then there would be an outcry from those on Mobility, they'd class it as discrimination and lack of freedom of choice etc.

Re the vans; all the Mobility vans I have seen are either VW Transporters or Merc Vitos, two of the most expensive models available.
