Petrol Price Hike - VAT

Just a reminder to those of you who have been living in a cave recently - there's going to be a VAT increase from 17.5% - 20% on January 4th which would mean a rise of around 3p a litre - there's also a fuel duty increase due on 1st January of around 0.75p so I'm filling up on the way home from work tonight assuming there's not a huge queue!
If you're anywhere near empty probably worth filling up now instead of waiting until next week.
Happy New Year!

I thought the VAT rise was 17.5% to 20%, will that change your calculations?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Yes, you're right - I got the price rise amount from here:

It states around 3.5p a litre due to the VAT rise.
I should know what the VAT amount is as when it last changed I worked in a shop and had to stay behind to change all the prices by 2.5% what a pain that was!:A0 -
Cheapest round here is now 121.9p. It's gone up quickly over the last two weeks.0

Or more likely, the OP edited his OP at 09:16 -adding the reason for edit to correct the VAT rate, after being alerted to an error in the VAT rate in the OOP (Original, Original Post)
Prices will soon be 128p / 129p unleaded then
My gas will be 63p0 -
We're already at 128.9 for diesel so this will send it up to the same as it was back in 2008 (132.9 is the highest I paid).
Anyone know what red diesel is approx at the moment? I heard that shot up recently as well?0 -
130.9 for diesel at our bp garage - with a sign cheap petrol 2 days a week.
