Had a huge communication issue with Vodafone today, and nearly completely lost my rag!!
A couple of nights ago my phone was stolen from a friends car. Same old story, had a little too much to drink, left valuables in boot of car and wandered home. Lost touch with friend for a couple of days.
This morning, get informed car had been broken in to, and phone gone. So I go to a local store, get a new sim, and put it in new handset.
Get text from vodafone asking me to contact them as there was some suspiscious activity on my phone in last 72 hrs. I call them to discuss. Operative tells me there isnt any. I go online as she's telling me this, and see some calls to pakistan totalling over £130 were made at 5am in the morning. ( as a white british male I know no one who lives in pakistan, and as the account will show I have never called anyone abroad).
By now this call had taken over 30 mins. I accepted fault in this, and asked them to look at the account to so it would confirm how abnormal the activity was. I was proposing that they offer me a repayment plan, as by now the total bill thats will come out of my account by the end of the month is £200+.
The woman then said that she will call me back.
Get phone call 10 mins later....
Operator wants to take a payment now for £40. I then proposed that I could pay back money over the next three months to bring the account in order.
Operator told me that I needed to pay £40 now, and then I would be billed as normal at the end of the month. If I did not clear in full then my line would be stopped and fall into the hands of the collections department.
Now, why would I pay money upfront now when I was still going to default?! I tried to query this with the operator, and she insisted that I needed to pay an upfront fee. I see this as be irrelevant as I will still be billed for the outstanding balance this month, and failure to cover it will result in my line being suspended.
Traumatic enough that I've lost my phone, and the culprits rang friends of mine before their own relatives in Pakistan wracking up a massive bill ( that I'll hold my hands up to and pay) but surely Vodafone can help me without killing my line first and putting a black mark against my account?LBM: March 2012 DEBT: 7500 DFW DATE: Jan 14

Vodafone can !!!! themselves. Tried to get two sims on a rolling monthly contract instead they put one on a 12 month and another on 24 month. Getting it all cancelled after so many months has been complete hell. !!!! you Vodafone, !!!! you big time.
Looks like this is a very common sort of scenario according to this thread, ask for one thing get something completely different that benefits them. Sales persons on commision only job or something so they screw the customers? Sure sounds like it!
Never using Vodafone ever again, con artists.
i got the problem resolved, i am going to write a letter of complaint and the result of that will determine if i stay with them or not (due to the huge amount of hassle to change)
if they give me something laughable like a £50 voucher off your next vodafone phone I will laugh.
For the amount of money (not going to disclose it but it's in the 4 digit range!) I've spent on them and the huge amount of hassle they've caused me, I will be expecting a free top of the range blackberry or iphone at a minimum0 -
Hi bigpound,
My sincere apologies for missing your previous post.
Although you have mentioned that your issue is now resolved, if you need any further help feel free to contact me via the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject and include a link to your post.
Hi dandan666,
I am sorry to hear that your phone was stolen and used to make these calls. I know how worrying it can be.
When there is a large amount due to paid on the account, we sometimes need to take part payment first to keep the line active. We can then make arrangements to clear the remainder.
If you would also like me to help with this, you can also email me via the steps above.
Many thanks,
Heidi

Good Afternoon
One simple call to cancel a dongle and reduce a price plan has turned into a massive arguement between vodafone and myself. Starting to feel like a bank robber now, starting with my demands, but i feel after 3 days of hassle and stress and speaking to a person with a different nationality everytime i call 191 i should be due something. Worse case so far in the 3 day fiasco, is being told my query couldnt be wait til after 5 when i got in from work as the particular manager i was talking to at the time was "going home soon" and couldnt wait the extra 15mins i requested
Total shock and lack of respect
Who has a suggestion for how I can leave vodafone without paying for cancelation fee after being treated like a mug

Hope someone can help?
After vodaphone being far more hassle than they are worth I decided to pay and get out of the contract sim. It was all sorted out with email, they told me I'd recieve a bill in December for the final amount. The bill arrived on the 23, I wrote a cheque out and posted it off on the same day. I checked my bank account online and the money had gone out on the 4/1. So I gave a sigh of relief that turned out to be very very short lived!
Imagine my horror when a letter from a debit collecting agency fell through the door???? I just about blew a fuse! According to the letter voadphone had made repeated requests for the final bill to be paid and as I had ignored it they had been handed my details, not only did they want what they say I owed vodaphone they wanted thier fee as well! and the letter went on to inform me not to contact vodaphone but I had to deal with them! I rang vodaphone, regardless of what the debit collection people said vodaphone had my money so they can sort it out. Vodaphone true to form hung up on me. So armed with the bill, cheque number and letter off I went to the vodaphone shop, I almost felt sorry for the guy there cause I have to admit I was pretty damn angry by now. He rang vodaphone and they confirmed that I don't owe anything, he then rang the debit collection people and they argued with him that i have to pay them!!!! He even explained he was from vodaphone and he was telling them that I don't owe them anything, he told them I was standing in the shop with him and they asked him to ask me to pay them!!!! He tried to talk some sense into them, they gave him a different number, he rang it, turns out it was just a fob off number. So he rang the first number again, still they are insisting that I pay!!!! I asked why the letter said that they'd made "repeated" attempts to get me to pay the bill and he says he honestly doesn't know, the bill I showed him was the only bill I'd recieved. He's going to try and contact someone at the head office tomorrow because he doesn't know how to get the debit collection people to accept I owe nothing and for them to leave me alone. The worst part of it is is they handed over my details after they had recived the cheque!
I'm actually worried sick, I've never been blacklisted in my life but I have a feeling thats whats going to happen here. the thought of bailiffs turning up, well, lets say I've had a few sleepless nights! I've asked the guy if he can get vodaphone to send me a letter confirming i owe nothing because I have an awful feeling these monkeys are going to turn up at my door!

Hi Tak3n,
I am sorry to hear that you have had some communication and customer service issues.
I will be happy to help you if you email me via the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject. Please also include a link to your post.
Hi fin7,
That’s really disappointing to read and I can certainly understand your concerns.
So that I can speak to the team who directly liaise with our debt collection agencies, can you send me an email via the above link as well.
We can then get this resolved for you.
Many thanks,
Heidi

I doubt whether anyone will believe this because I dont. Im not allowed an upgrade even AFTER my upgrade date, nor am I allowed a new contract. I hear you all asking , WHY......
Apparently In my close on TEN years with Vodafone I have called them over 200 TIMES to discuss mistakes they have made on my account. These include things like:
OVERCHARGING
NOT DELIVERING UPGRADES WHEN THEY PROMISED
FAILING TO PUT ME ON THE RIGHT TARRIFF
CHARGING ME FOR STUFF IVE NEVER ASKED FOR.
FAILING TO CORRECT MY UPGRADE DATES AFTER RETURNING PHONES.
COLLECTING FUNDS FROM MY BANK EARLY INCURRING CHARGES FOR ME.
among many many many other things
as a result of speaking up for myself, whenever I now speak to Vodafone they transfer me to their "specialist" (SNOTTY CUSTOMER) team. They told me they will let me have an upgrade when THEY see fit, which means if i shut my mouth and dont complain about their ballsups then they may consider it but probably not till WELL after my upgrade date has come and gone.
I feel pretty sure that they are not dealing with me in a fair open and above board manner.
I may be giving the impression I do nothing but complain about them.
This is not the truth, but they are woefully inadequate and cannot deal with even the simplest things.
I was always taught that if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing. Im sorry Vodafone if you think Im going quietly while you actively victimise and harass me then think again. By treating someone differently to everyone else is surely not right dont you think.

Sounds to me that you're extremely lucky. The ONLY thing I do find hard to believ is that they did take some sort of notice. I've complained so many times I lost count long ago and they never took ANY notice (except for on manager - and yes, I DID manage to speak with ONE! - and the Web Relations team (constantly on here to firefight those who make it to this forum). Count your good fortune and use another network.0
