Oh, I doubt very much they were abusing anyone. However, a bit of common courtesy on your part, might have made them reconsider any negative perception they have of people in general. Except that now, you have succeeded in reinforcing any misconceptions they had. Well done. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Despite the fact you werent shown where the item was i would have left it as it was and either ask someone else or find them on my own,
i admit im not shown where something is everytime i ask the staff im not taken to the product but i leave it there and then and forget about it
waiting half hour for the manager, i woiuld have given it 5 minutes and gone
Sometimes it's not possible to escort somebody to a product. I quite often have to point to where something is, because I'm serving somebody else and can't wander off serving other people in the middle of somebody else - that's just rude.
Or I've got loads of stuff in my hands and are clearly busy and can't stop to go on a massive detour.0 -
The supermarket model was created to cut staffing requirements, to allow goods to be supplied more cheaply. When the supermarkets first appeared in the UK many shoppers complained of the "lack of service" but they liked the low prices , so got used to fending for themselves. I have noticed in the past few years that the PBI in the supermarkets are now, in addition to their "real job", stock replenishment, they are expected to help people who are either too stupid or too lazy, to find the goods they require. I would think that any employee would help someone in need of assistance, if time permitted, but if we are expecting a bespoke service in a supermarket we are missing the point. Why should anyone just accept shoddy service? Surely by letting business owners aware that their customers are not satisfied, how can they mange to retain them?0 -
Not sure what is more ridiculous, the OP complaint or the fact loads of us have read and replied to such a ridiculous thread.
I guess we must be all bored.0 -
Well, if they all have that attitude towards the customers, is hardly a surprise so many complaints are made. The supermarket model was created to cut staffing requirements, to allow goods to be supplied more cheaply. So I take it that you find it acceptable for the general public, to verbally abuse shop staff and anyone who may appear to be working for that shop then?
I suppose that you also totally accept that when nurses and ambulance staff are verbally and physically abused, by said general public, that that is ok thats what they are paid for?
No One whoever they are who works in the public service industry, whether that is is shops or hospitals, should need to put up with the abuse thay are given, by the general public, and dont think it is only the chavvy scum, who do it, the worst offenders are the so called ' well off/well to do' who think the world revolves around them.
A bit of payback to these critters is only what they deserve;):p0 -

His come over from Digital Spy forums (same username). They have thread on there where people in retail, complain about awkward customers and he has the same comments on there as he does here.
Yet if a customer complains about a shop on a thread, and a retail worker responds he tells them to go back to their own thread. Yet he finds it perfectly acceptable to post in the retail worker thread himself.0 -

I think a lot of people do not even know what "Vol-au-vent cases" are. I consider them quite old-fashioned now and have't really seen them in a shop for a long time. it is also possible OP has mistook another customer for a member of staff it is quite easy to do.0
