    Hello again,

niccatw - you are actually already on the list as you posted on last years thread with your proposed budget so I was cheeky & added you then :D

    Welcome to :

    ma-ri-ella, Yorkielass, Gingerjar & CashStrappedPrincess .

I tried really hard to spend my M&S voucher today ... got car out in pouring rain, drove to the store but it was rammed in the car park & there were idiots everywhere so I assumed there would be even more in the shop & gave up, I finally managed to leave the car park & came back with my voucher intact :j

I've just spent a happy half hour writing out a list of all the clothes challengers, membership numbers & budgets into a specific notepad. ( Have a bit of a stationery fetish thing going on too :shhh:).

I decided to add up the total of our collective budget so far ... it comes in at just under £20,000.

    For simplicity's sake I've put Puss14 & chev s budgets as £'s & cat4772 s as the highest figure.

I'm going to add it to the first page & will total up our collective final spends at the end of the year.

See, we're all in this together :rotfl:

So if we're all in this together can I borrow someone's else's budget if they don't spend it all and I run out?! ;)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

    Hello all,

I haven't posted on MSE for a while but I've seen this challenge and would like to ask if blokes can join in?

I managed to go through 2010 only spending £10 on clothes (and that was only in Dec). I know this might sound a little skanky but I decided to try a bit of frugal living in 2010 and had also done a bit of de-cluttering. I was supprised by the amount of clothes in my wardrobe that I'd bought but never worn or only worn a couple of times. Seriously supprised.

The frugal living part went quiet well and I found I didn't miss shopping as much as I thought I would. I plan to continue this in 2011 but have also adopted a fitness regime which is going quiet well. At some point I will need new clothes.

I'd like to set a limit of £250 for 2011.

All the best with your challenges.

Sounds like a plan Stan :D

FatJock - hello & welcome. We already have one geezer on board, but there can never be too many men so it's great to have you along ... although now I have to change the collective budget :p;)

I did the challenge last year and I'm not sure if I actually went over budget or not, however I was close and I only bought stuff that I really needed.

I was vaguely thinking that I would join if I got a promotion at work but sadly that didn't work out....so I can continue to go in wearing jeans and jumpers/ t-shirts rather than stuff that requires ironing :T

I think however, I transferred my spendiness to other kinds of shopping instead and so I've now got a monthly budget which is basically what is left over after debt repayments (to clear debts in 6 months) and fixed costs (mortgage, council tax etc).

So if I spend £50 on clothes one month, that is fine, but obviously will seriously restrict my ability to go out for dinner, buy nice supermarket food etc! I'm going to see if this works for me and who knows, I might end up doing another kind of budget later on in the year!

So i wish you all the best of British and hope you all find those elusive fabulous bargains.

    No spends here either!
Being seriously broke is a good incentive, but it hasn't always stopped me:eek:
Plan for today is to get out the sewing machine and see if any of the 15 pairs of trousers that I never wear can be saved!
    Will report back later.
