  • aussielass- sorry to hear about your uncle:(

i get my grapefruit extract from: http://www.baldwins.co.uk/

but you should be able to pick it up from any natural remedy supplier. it isnt that cheap, however being a natural preservative it can be used in any homemade cosmetic recipe that needs a preservative, alternatively you can use tincture of benzoin (another natural preservative) which you can get from the same place you just need to double the amount of drops.

i am now making all my own toiletries, soaps, cleansers, moisturisers, shampoos etc but am growing my own herbs so that makes it cheaper. i have spent a few pounds on supplies but ultimately i should see huge savings in the long term plus i am planning on making all my rellies xmas presents myself:) and nicking some of lushs' ideas for my own soaps:):) true MSE stylee lol

    Morning everyone
Sorry that I haven't posted for a while. I have now finished my teaching block at uni and hit the real world on tuesday, so things should be a little easier now.

I guess I have some big news. Myself and my partner have decided to split up. It's been building for a while and I told him last night that I am not happy and we have decided to make the break now. This means that there is lots to be sorted of course as we have a house together. But for the time being I am just coming to terms with it.

So today I am intending on changing the spare bed and moving into that room and also on making some food for the freezer...for both of us. I don't see that this will turn into a bad split to be honest.

I cleaned the house from top to bottom on friday and I have tomorrow off so I am going to not do any housework today and give myself a bit of a rest.

Not a happy frugalpie this morning.....DD has got headlice! I know it doesn't seem like much but this is the umpteenth time I have had to treat her since school went back. I know I'm getting her hair clean but obviously someone else isn't at the school...any tips on how to keep them away????

AM at w*** this afternoon, so hoping for a quiet evening and lots of browsing on OS!

    Plans for now:

Waiting for DH to return from asda with the stuff for DD's hair-only chemist open round here.

    Sort DD's hair out.

Breakfast/Shower and then to Morrisons for a few bits and then off to w***.

Hugs to you all as always.

    Frugalpie

    Morning All

Hugs to Fay, Aussielass and anybody else who needs them.

Valentine: I'm right there with you on the tiredness and other symptoms you did very well staying awake till 3am, I'd been asleep for 5 hours by then.

DD seems to be coming round abit from her cold. She only woke twice last night and DH got up to her at 2am and I did the 5am cuddle.

Plan for the day is to get everything ready for work and grandmas and also make sure that the stuff is ready for tea for the start of the week so I can just chuck it in the oven when I get in.

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning all,

Well, here I sit whilst my bath is running, listening to the Church bells chiming. They normally do the call to church at this time, but obviously this morning they are really going for it. It brightens the morning up.

My next door neighbour has just gone in, in civvies this year, he retired from the Army in the Summer, so of course I'd forgotten he wouldn't be in uniform.

So, I think I shall have my bath, wrap up warm and go and watch the Remembrance Parade.

OS-wise - looks like it is Roast Chicken on the menu for a lot of OS'ers today .... we're having it too. We don't often have a roast of a weekend, unless we have guests, but I took a chicken out of the freezer t'other day in an attempt to be organised! Now, the question is - slow cooked or roasted, TBH I'm favouring roasted.

Yesterday I made a couple of wheat bags :) I made one for DD with wheat and lavender, and she picked the out material, she snuggled up with it and settled to sleep easily!!!! I made a larger one for me, about the size of a hot water bottle, but don't think I put enough wheat in it. So, I think prototype 3 will be on the cards later :) This time, I am going to make one with mint as the dried herb ....

DH and I decided to destroy another room in the ongoing quest to get this house renovated. DH was convinced that in one particular room that there was a hidden fireplace ... unfortunately there isn't .... and of course now we have a hole in the wall, which he'll need to re-brick and plaster! Ooops. In the midst of this he'd removed a radiator and the valve sheared off, so I ended up feeling like the Dutch boy with his finger in the dam, whilst DH hurtled round the house and had to drain the central heating system. D'oh.

So, yep, you guessed it DH and DD have gone to B&Q to pick up some supplies this morning!

Right, time to get a wriggle on.

((hugs)) to all those who want one.

    Hi everyone!
Most rare for me to get here on a Sunday but I'm up at my parents who have got broadband unlike my who has dinosaur dial up:D
It's just me and the small person today as OH is in London with the car doing a show. So it's Shank's Pony everytime we need to get there but it does mean that sadly I am unable to fulfill my usual quota of jobs:T :T
Yesterday he was doing a fungus foray with Wildlife Explorers at the local Nature Reserve. He found a really rare one called a hedgehog fungus which has never been seen at the reserve. I don't know who was more chuffed- him or the wardens! I meanwhile had a lovely relaxing time in the hides watching the birds including a heron. It was so lovely and relaxing just to be able to sit back and smell the roses so to speak.
Not a great deal of os done although washing is up to date and his cub uniform was pressed very early before he went on the Rememberance parade. Also made some choccy buns. It's bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese accompanied by a simple salad for tea tonight.
Anyway I'm off to join my newly set up local freecycle group now!
    Don't work too hard!

    Good morning everyone!

*hugs* to Aussielass and Fay - take it easy today.

I'm another one on the 'go to work and come home' schedule - seems like I'm on a hamster wheel sometimes. Its a good thing I like my job! Looking forward to a day off in a week or so though :D

Was rather productive yesterday (for me, anyway!) I'm still getting the hang of these OS ways. Got the DW and WM on, and did the shopping for the week, along with some cooking and cleaning. Plans for today: we've had breakfast, and as soon as we're both ready we're going christmas shopping as I want to pick up a few things for my presents. I'm (finally) getting there, as have over 1/2 the stuff bought as far as I can work out, so feeling quite pleased :p

I'll be putting the WM on again when we get back, and then I need to make 2 birthday cards for this week so will need to get cracking with them. I've got steak in the fridge, so think thats for tea tonight, but depends what we have for lunch ;)

*Hugs* to all - take or leave as you please. Have a good day everyone! :j

    (((aussielass))) and ((((fay))))

    Morning(ish)!

Ive just woken up, I seem to need a lot of sleep at the moment. I did a photo session with a freind of mine yesterday as some practice and they turned out rather well which was pleasing. She needs them for an audition for something or other, and she is going to be a head of hair on celebrity scissorhands today which will be quite fun to watch.

OH is working today so I need to go in with him to tidy away my photo stuff as we were there quite late yesterday. This morning ive done a load of laundry, and some chicken is in the oven to make an on the go chicken sandwich lunch. Aside from that I have no other plans for today so ill probably just spend some time browsing the internet and relaxing really!

Hope you all have a lovely sunday!

    Morning all xxx

Just listening to the Remembrance service on radio 4 .. never fails to move me to tears.

Children seem to be on a seek and destroy mission today so they shall be tasked to certain rooms and I will have a tidier hosue by tonight.

I have a list of jobs for today for everyone which I will be tackling in a minute. including bed sheet changing.. I hate that job!

I am thinking of my first attempt of meal planning.. just to see how it goes.. should be amusing I can't organise a bun fight in a cake factory normally!!

    have a lovely day all!

  • Hello everyone.

Good luck with the meal planning, Pigpen.

I just wanted to let those of you with panasonic breadmakers know (if you've not tried yet) than the croissants are out of this world. DH has been making them regularly for our 2 year old and he loves them with cheese or with chocolate spread (home made choclatines!) He hasn't tried cooking them with the chocolate IN them when they go in the oven but I imagine that will be the next step.

    Have a good day everyone.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
