Bogof_Babe your dinner is more conventional than my sisters lol, she lives on her own and has admitted to baked bean sandwiches for sunday dinner!
Haven't had sausage and bacon etc for ages *mouth waters*:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0 -
Hi kelink,
I have merged your thread with the daily thread which is where Old Stylers post about the meals they're making today.
I tried something different for a change and cooked a roast boned lamb shoulder for the first time. I was really brave and made the stuffing myself. It was yummy.....definitely something I'll make again.

Hiya all
(((hugs))) espesh to Fay, GR, elona and Aussielass, but anyone else can have one too.
Frugalpie - before I forget, headlice, I'm led to believe, hate tea tree oil. You can always try preventing them in future by using tea tree oil shampoo/conditioner (even adding your own oil to whatever shampoo you have) Touch wood, my two seem immune to them; luckily neither myself nor Mr TM had them either, but only time will tell
WM has been on today as has TD as I ran out of airers/rads. SC is on with a shoulder of lamb and luckily I have a combi mcrowave so at least I can have proper roasties. Cauliflower/broc cheese is also on the menu here tooI asked Mr TM to pop into Lidl for a goose yesterday, so he got the leg and the crown, which he then left out to thaw, despite my telling him to put them in the freezer until we have a proper oven!! I got to them in time though. Don't know if we'll get any more full birds now.
Been to town today to return library books, get gerbil food and seek out those last (yes, last) illusive xmas pressies. Still stuck for mum, Mr TM and one of my sisters. Just got home and done a laundry swap around, put spuds in and am grabbing a baileys coffee before I make a start on the veggies. I do believe Mr TM ran the vac around the hall while I was out too!! Without being asked!! *faints*
Ok peeps, coffee is gone and veg needs prepping. Have a good night

Felt I was being quite OS today. We took dogs for a run down the park and then came back to cook a Gressingham Duck (half price from Sainsburys). Never cooked duck before so took a look in my Gary Rhodes book and rubbed it with salt and covered it with honey. Used the giblets, minus the liver to make a stock for gravy and used the liver in my sausagemeat stuffing, so not a bit thrown away!
It turned out beautifully and we had it with mash, roasts, broccoli, carrots and peas and yorkshire pud. Trouble was, I didn't realise that you don't get much meat off a duck. I was expecting it to have as much meat as a chicken! Luckily, my oldest (and very fussy!) daughter said she would not eat duck and so I had also cooked some chicken. Good job because there wasn't enough duck to go round!
Hope everyone had had a good day! :wave:0 -
sounds like everyone has had a really productive day!
i havent really done that much, sorted out school stuff for tomorrow and cleared out the airing cupboard and put away laundry. had cous cous for lunch:) thanks to all who gave me recipe ideas i knew i could count on OS:)
i have counted up the pennies hanging around in various places in the house...£6.21, a great start to my PMS challenge:)
i have really spent today reading up on loads of OS threads, gaining tips on the way, i am really excited to be back, i have devised my budget for the month (which is actually 3 weeks as im starting November a week late).
I really have to go food shopping tomorrow, stock up on a few things, I am going to get back to using my panasonic BM this week too:) that should save me a few pennies although im not sure how much, i cant stand tasteless bread and am trying to eat as much organic food as i can so I find that expensive....any tips?
im also going to have a look at the xmas threads later and see what ideas i can pick up.......a year ago i had just recieved my clubcard vouchers with the results of the mega beef and gravy fiasco!!!! if anyone remembers that one? lol (im sure i still have a manky pack or two left in the bottom of my chest freezer lol)
ohhhhh its sooooooooooo nice to be back:):)

Evening all....:grouphug: to all
Quiet day here today. Spent this morning lazing around in PJ's then went for a proper bath, 2 hours later I emerged (frustrated because DD needed the toilet JUST as I sat down in the bath so I had to get out to let her go  ) and cracked on...NOT :rotfl:
We stripped beds this morning before coming downstairs, then after my bath I got stuck into DD's bookcase with her  We have about a dozen or so books ready to be listed on ebay (we only got rid of every 10th book so doesn't that prove how many she has! ) and finally we are able to stand the books up instead of having most of them in pilesLooks much neater.
Then I made a hearty Chicken/turkey stew with turnip, carrots, leek, and butternut squash
But best of all, we've just won a Barbie desk & Chair set on ebay for DD's main Xmas pressie. It cost us £32  but I know she'll love itThe novelty of having her own desk (she loves writing/drawing/colouring and making lists :rotfl:) will hopefully out weigh any disappointment of not getting the Fairy Wonderland (£30 in ELC, without any figures! The figures at £10 a set extra ) plus I've promised her that we can go shopping in the January Sales :money:
Best be off as I need to get some bits done before having an early night at 10pm. Night all :wave:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Hello!
Sorry I'm late (story of my life). Just flouncing in to say I have not had a productive day at all! I'm currently staying at my parents, so am being spoiled rotten with food and teas being made for me, and not having to worry about cleaning or washing. I also said I'd do some casual work here next week, so I'm staying until ThursdayAlthough OH went home on the train tonight as he has uni next week
I miss him already.
So, looks like OS is going on a temporary hiatus...got lunch with a friend tomorrow, dinner with my auntie and hopefully OH will have cleaned our flat/done the washing, ironing etc when I get back. And got me some Xmas pressies. We did a bit of shopping this weekend, can't get much though because I don't have a steady income yet. Still, its getting there.
Now...do I clean the kitchen for my Mum tomorrow...?We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

Call me biased Blairweech, but on the basis of how much I've done today, YES YES YES! Why should you get away with it easy?:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ( Could you have a quiet word with my lot and persuade one of them to do my kitchen?:D Pretty please!)You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0
