  • I tried something different for a change and cooked a roast boned lamb shoulder for the first time. I was really brave and made the stuffing myself. It was yummy.....definitely something I'll make again.

I'm impressed Pink!!!! Did you bone the shoulder yourself or did you get the butcher to do it? I really regret the going of our last butcher round these parts. Sainsbury's isn't the place to ask for such services!:rotfl: What did you use to make your stuffing? I just love lamb, it's my favourite meat!

    Hi Churchmouse,

Lamb is my favourite meat too, but it's getting sooooo expensive!:(

The butcher did it for me.......boning it would be a bit beyond me!

I made the stuffing from breadcrumbs, (from homemade bread..I'm still too new fangled with my breadmaker to be prepared to waste a single crumb! :o ) Added some onion, crushed garlic, rosemary, parsley, blackpepper and an egg to bind it all.

I just spread the stuffing over the lamb and then rolled it and tied it all up again.

It really was delicious! We love lamb, but find a leg costs a bit much to have very often. This was a cheaper alternative and tasted every bit as good! I'd definitely recommend it......I was afraid it would taste a bit fatty, but it didn't.

I've seen boneless shoulder of lamb in the tesco value range before, £2.99/kg. I'm going to try it some time to see how it compares.

  • Don't shop at Mr T's normally, but may give him a go to get a boned shoulder. Do agree a leg works out too expensive to have very often, and as for chops etc, don't even go there!!!!!

Your stuffing sounds really yummy, must note it down for future reference!!

I'm typing this through the tears having just watched the last ten minutes or so of "Ghost" one of my favourite films!! My number one is "It's a wonderfull life" ! I was born out of my time!!

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 13th Nov 06. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

It might be an unlucky day, but I hope it's not for you!!!

Hi studentphil and everyone else to follow :hello:

I hope it won't be an unlucky 13th for anybody on Old Style. :)

I was just heading off to bed when I saw you start the daily for tomorrow and couldn't resist saying hello.

I had a lovely (read that as lazy) weekend....

Did a little bit of cleaning, a couple of walks, a bit of cooking, and mega breadmaking! Do any of you ever get bored with your breadmakers? I love mine....it's definitely my favourite kitchen gadget and I think it has saved me more money than any other machine I've ever owned.

I don't have many plans for this week...

Tilly (the cat) has to go and get her stitches removed. I think that I might ask the vet to give her a worming tablet when we're there. We did try to worm her a couple of weeks ago, but I think it was unsuccessful! :o

We (three of us) wrapped her and held her in a towel, while the fourth person (DS1) got the fun job of trying to get the massive pill into her mouth. Tilly seems to have a [strike]superhuman[/strike] supercat gag reflex, because each time the pill hit the back of her mouth it managed to shoot across the room. After a lot of scrambling to find the pill, we tried and failed, again and again and again...

So, nursing our wounds, we decided to try different tactics and crush some of the pill and put it into her food. No need to tell you how she responded to that.......stuck her nose in the air and refused to eat!

So as a last resort, I decided, in my non existent wisdom, that it would be harder for her to reject a crushed pill in the way she had managed to with a whole pill....bad mistake. I crushed the remaining pill between two spoons.........same drill as before, we held her and DS1 poured the crushed pill into her mouth and she spat it into his face. The cat may not be wormed but my poor twelve year old son is sure to be clear of worms for the next three months.

Sorry for going on, but any tips on worming cats gratefully recieved!

I'm back to work this week (in the evenings) but my kitchen cupboards are beginning to become dangerous. The plan by the end of the week is to have the work surfaces clear and the cupboards no longer a health and safety hazzard when they are opened.

    Wish me luck!

I hope you all have a good week! :)

    Morning folks

I love waking up on a Monday morning knowing I have no work. Even though I have been awake since 4:30

Today is the start of my severe cleaning/tidying/decluttering week. Going to start at one end of the house and work through it. No corner of this house will be untouched ;)

Hoping today to get the bathroom, hallway and kitchen done. In between have some washing to do and also have vegetables starting to go a bit funny so might make some soup.

    Off for a browse

    Have a great day :D

    Monday morning.

A new start for me this week. I have finished a 6 week course and now I start my new job within the same organisation in a different location. So new people and new faces

The washing machine I fixed on Saturday looks like it's broke worse than when i started...... I am rather annoyed about that. One silly mistake and I made a real mess.   PANTS

Oh well what are credit cards for but to go out and get a new one....... I fancy a Miele this time?

Looks to be wet and windy today... fine by us. We don't have any clothes to hang out anyway........

Have a nice one and stay safe
