Thanks, Kethry. It's privately owned so I can't ask them to help. I'm just going to let it lie now. But if it happens again I will go straight to 999 rather than a local number because I've just realised how vulnerable I was to have a man appear at my door threatening me like that 'in my condition'. I won't take a risk again. xMay all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

I meal plan and meal plan like nobody's business, but then bf goes and invites his mates round to eat my food! I find this so annoying. There's one in particular who always come round.
I have enough pasta sauce and bacon for two meals for me and bf, but now that he's invited his friend to stay for dinner, that's half of the second meal gone! So there's not enough for our second meal, which means we're a meal short.
Not really a question, just a bit of a moan really. Don't think bf realises how skint we are. Or am I just an old misog?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Hi pollyanna,
I've merged your thread with the daily thread where you should get some support.
I'm afraid extra people to feed is more of a norm in my house....gets to me sometimes in the school holidays when there always seems to be an extra mouth to feed, but it certainly brings out my creative side!

Evening all....just popped in to catch up. Nothing new here. Quiet day in while DD has watched "Scrooge" (1970's version with Albert Finney as Scrooge) and she's now watching "White Christmas"
This is post her coming in to wake us up this morning with 2 Christmas stories. OH is ready to kill me for having Christmas stuff available already :rotfl::xmassign::xmastree::santa2::snow_laug :xmassmile:xmassmile:xmassmile
Right, off now to make tea (mini-pizzas from reduced buns ... I think I have some pineapple chunks in the cupboard and some ham in the fridge) and start a stew for tomorrow :drool::drool::drool:

Went to Lidl with DH and got a load of shopping and a huge box of Ariel washing powder.
All dds are out at the moment so made DH and myself some chips and chicken leg for tea.
Just came across an email from freecycle for a residential children's school looking for a sofa so offered my Dad's sofa and easychair .
They have just phoned and will come to pick it up on Monday - really pleased it will go to a good cause!:j

Are you taking folic acid? Might be worth checking advice etc at G.P.s surgery even if you just get some leaflets.

okay.. not having a good afternoon.. went to corner shop to get tin foil to cover xmas pud while it steamed, while i was out OH decided to help by cleaning the bowl that i was going to cook the xmas pud in, it had the leftovers of last night's chocolate sponge in it, with water/soap in it to soak. he decided to tip the lot down the loo, only.. it slipped out of his hand and broke. (he later told me he ended up fishing bits of glass out of the water, rather brown, sludgy water (from the chocolate pud), and he said that wasn't terribly pleasant.)
needless to say learning this ... i got rather upset, and it triggered a full scale row, while i was pulling my coat back on to go back out to get another pudding bowl.. the worst thing it wasn't even the money, it was the sheer fact that i had to go out.. again.. and i *really* didn't want to..
so anyway, went to wilkos and got another one for £3, along with some stuff for christmas - some fake candles for the tree, some tree baubles for decoration, and those ribbony things, so i'm quite happy now. came back and it started to rain cats and dogs..
anyway, we apologised and kissed and made up (and i couldn't help but laugh when OH told me about fishing around down the loo with all the brown sludge..)
anyway, i am having a cup of tea and then making the puds and OH will be banned from trying to help again.
GR: shame its privately owned property.. i think you're doing right by dialing 999 if it happens again though. :grouphug: i hope it doesn't, though!
right.. laters folks.. if any more breakages happen i'm going back to bed and i'm not shifting till tomorrow - and then i'm gonna get out of OH's side!

Either that or serve smaller portions for a little while, eat yours first and then get him to split his meal with his friend!:rotfl: I can imagine his expression!
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.

Hi all, hope we are well
Oh dear Kethry - hope all is well now, I can imagine your frustration, I was off work a few days this week ill, and Ive ended up hurting my back again, OH and myself only get wk ends off now, to do shopping, housework etc. I try do some in the week, but with being poorly, Ive hardly touched places, It really annoyed me, when I was struggling to hoover the stairs - and he sat and watched football - urgh!!! I took a leaf out of his book, and joined him. He soon realised what I was doing then took over from me - I smiled a cheeky smile.
Good Luck freyasmum with your move, I moved 3 times in the last 5years - wont be doing it again in a hurry - mind you - it was a good excuse to have a good clear out of cupboards etc. Im settled now, so wont be doing it again for a long, long while. Dont be absent from us for too long.
Just had dinner, cheese salad - OH had stir fry and satay chicken. Just waiting for x-factor to come on. Then will chill for the evening.
Have a good evening night everyone whether you're staying in or going out.
Lots of love as usualHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Evening everyone
Gingham Ribbon I hope you are feeling better after last night's experiences :grouphug:
Just thought I'd tell you about my supper ('cos I know you're all really interested)
This is a brilliant example of rolling one meal into the next.
Yesterday we had braised oxtail which was gorgeous - lots of sticky, flavourful meat mmm... There were lots of lovely beefy-winey juices left over which I naturally saved .
Today- how best to use them ? I didn't want to freeze them as I'd already used frozen beef stock (from a previous stew) in the oxtail dish which was one of the reasons it was so good. So, I needed to use the juice up today.
I'd vaguely thought about a parsnip and bacon risotto for later this week. It occured to me that parsnips go very well with beef, so risotto it was.
Sauteed onion, celery, smoked streaky bacon (not the stuff that oozes white gunk) in butter and olive oil. Added risotto rice and gradually added the oxtail juices plus water. Result - fantastic ! Served with sliced local tomatoes (still going strong in the poly tunnels) and rocket (likewise), plus Parmesan.
Oh, and pudding was damson fool made with pureed damsons from the freezer, hm yogurt and local cream.
I feel smug- can't you tell ?but it was a lush meal- restaurant standard even if I say so myself. Nigel Slater eat my shorts

Have been rushing round like a maniac today.
Got up early and went to town to get tickets and travellers cheques for holiday next Friday. Got DD3 some trainers and boots. Went into Costa Coffee and got mugged for a latte and a bit of carrot cake.
Came home and blitzed the downstairs - got DH and DD3 involved and we really went to town.
Had some lush scrambled egg on HM bread for lunch, then watched Murder on the Nile while chilling.
Then went to see Mr T.
Came home and went to town on upstairs, this time on my own, gave bathroom a real going over.
Dished up tea which was savoury mince in SC with rice. Glass of wine.
DW on and now I am here with all of you.
Pennypincher - I hope your day with rellies went well.
GR - try and stay calm in your condition you don't need the stress.
Love and hugs to all that need it.
