    Afternoon all,
GR There was a news article on one morning's T.V. about rage over parking places in which it was explained that a lot of people don't understand that they have no rights over who parks outside their house on a street or road. My friend has a similar problem with a really nasty "across the road neighbour" He spends a lot of his time lying in wait for people to abuse.... must be a lovely life.

PiixxySu Yes My DD (23) and DS (22) have both left home. DD lives in Leeds only about 25mins drive away, and putting her in the same city as my MIL & FIL, so visits and lifts are generally easy to arrange. DS has moved into the local town, we live in the suburbs of same town, but his shifts run from 12:00 - 20:00 so seeing him isn't so easy.

Apart from having taken the dog (now 8 months old) for a walk in the park this morning, I'm planning on doing very little today. DH is restoring a 1930s dining table, and as quickly as he repairs bits, the dog is chewing other bits. Its almost completely sprayed with bitter apple spray now.

I'm just wishing I had a decent collection of DVDs as I right fancy an afternoon of old movies. I'm saving "The Railway Children" & " It's a Wonderful Life" for Christmas, and watched "Miracle on 34th Street" (1947 version) the other day while I was off work. I could have a Mrs. Miniver moment, but as we live in the 1940s most of the time, I'm not sure that would feel so indulgent in the way I want.

    (Heavy sigh) Oh choices, choices

Must go & Check the washload has finished, will check in later. Nice to hear you again Kethry

    Afternoon all.

Had some fantastic news yesterday, one of the mums at the school gave birth to a little girl yesterday - finally!!!! :j She has 5 boys, all under the age of 8  - one of lifes true 'supermums' and finally got her wish yesterday. I screamed when I heard the news - chuffed to bits for her. Its quite sad really but when she gave birth to boy no.5, the news went kinda unnoticed, but I imagine the school playground will be a sea of pink come Monday morning with all the gifts.

Been to Asda this morning to do my weekly shop and took DD2 with me - big mistake - she loves shopping - and my shopping ended up £40 more than normal with all the things she was chucking in the trolley. I did get her a very pretty dress for Christmas, its black with glittery bits all over it. I did get a few bits for Christmas though, Cracker barrell, Celebrations and Heroes tins (the real test will be if I can resist before December) :o

    Have a good day all.

    Afternoon all -

Well dun to the footballers out there, especially playing in the cold/wind. Rather you than me - but then again - if I tried to kick a ball - would most likely end up on my "jacksy"

Town was MAD! Couldn't move in Primark. Que's was huge, pushchairs in the way, people rushing/pushing - that reminds me why I hate shopping - I like the store tho, mega bargains. Must go again.

P'J's are a bargain!!!! not got any yet. but for £4 - you cant go wrong.

Managed to get DD new glasses. Fetch them next Saturday. She's had a change from the usual pink or red frames and gone for gold colour, very grown up.

Kids have just to gone to their dad's, til sun pm, peace & quiet now.
Must go and get some jobs done (if my back will allow me to do so)

    Catch you all later
    love as usual

A woman after my own heart. Prior to having kids, I used to love cosy Sunday afternoons on the sofa watching the old matinees with Mr Frizz. As for The Railway Children, there is no other film that makes me blub like that one, as soon as I hear the music I'm off.

Although not an oldie movie, I do love watching "Love Actually" in the lead up to Christmas - its a real feel-good movie, but I do bawl loads at the Emma Thompson character.

Mr Frizz is out with friends tonight, so I feel an oldie movie night coming on, well thats if I am able to drag myself off here. :o

    morning folks!!

thanks to Peem and Topher for the welcome backs.. wasn't sure anyone would notice :)

:grouphug: to GR and Icemaiden - GR, one other avenue you could investigate, which i don't think i saw anyone mention: is his home council/housing association owned? if so, then it might be worth complaining to them - most of them have fairly strict rules of behaviour and i'm pretty sure harrassing a pregnant woman isn't permitted!! I would also get the police reference number - you'll need it if you do make any complaints to the authorities about him. [we've had similar problems with local youths, the older children of people who live locally, and PCSOs/local wardens were sent out in most cases. The only time we got actual police officers round was when said youths were trying to/did break through the communal door.]

:T to Valentine - we're trying so i know well that feeling of staring at the pregnancy test, waiting for that line to show up!!! congratulations, hon.. enjoy keeping the news to yourselves for a while!!

today's plans.. well we just had bacon and egg butties with home made toasted bread, which is our regular saturday breakfast... tonight's dinner is pizza from Asda (sorry not very OS i know but to be quite honest their pizzas are cheaper than i can make em and i *do* love their sweet chilli chicken ones) which is the regular saturday night dinner, eaten while NCIS/CSI/L&O is on. god, we are predictable.

apart from that.. my parents are visiting next saturday to pick up the xmas cake/xmas pud/xmas cards for family and xmas pressie for my nan so i have a bunch of stuff to get done for that. i'm just in a really apathetic mood though, i just wanna curl up on the sofa and do nothing.. its hard to break out of this kind of mood but i know i have to.

we had a phone call from OH's parents last night. he'd had a birthday card where they said they hoped we would be visiting them for xmas (in the netherlands) as OH's sister's due date is on 22nd Dec and she wanted us there to see the new baby, which was making us stress out because my family are visiting on 27th, so we had visions of trying to get back in time to defrost the turkey. Thankfully they've accepted that we won't be coming over for christmas but they are happy for us to delay it and spend new year with them instead.. only.. they think going over for a week is pretty pointless, they want us to go for 2 weeks instead. So we're possibly going over on 29th/30th and spending 2 weeks there, which means more stress - someone to dogsit/find kennels for jess, and someone to house sit - i just would not be able to relax, knowing that our flat had been left alone - this area being what it is - and sort out HM pressies for the OH's family.. it'll be lovely to see his family - i haven't seen them in more than a year - but.. 2 weeks with them is going to be stressful.. i've already asked the OH to make sure that during the 2 weeks we get time alone so that i can relax a bit.

anyway.. i suppose i better get on with the xmas pud.. only i need tin foil to cover the top of the pudding basin and i ran out and its such grotty weather outside i *really* don't wanna go out to get some..

    i know, i know.. pretty pathetic.. !

anyway, sorry for the down note.. hope everyone else has a good day..

    keth

Board Guides, if this would be better suited in another place, please move.

I am currently moving into a new home with OH and DD and I just wanted to say a great big thank you to all of you for inspiring me to be more money saving and for giving me more tips and ideas than I could ever have thought possible - they really are endless!

I cleaned the place with stardrops/starclen and IBCOL/Zoflora. I am creating a storecupboard and have a little (ok, huge) stock of other consumables... toiletries, washing powder, etc.

I have lots of ideas for budgeting and using leftovers to make new meals.

So, again, on behalf of OH and DD,
I would like to thank everyone.

I also don't have an internet connection, so I will be on here a lot less, but when I get a chance, I'll be here :)

Thank you and it's no problem with me at all :)

As I said, I didn't know where to post it, but wanted to make sure that I did say it :)

Gin Gin DH was born in Sydney. He left when he was about 12. Have you been there before? It's very overpriced & over rated IMO. DH sister lives there and loves it though. I like the more relaxed lifestyle up here better and the sunshine. ;)

It was either Sydney or Melbourne really. Oh works in finance and needs to be where the big banks are and it only really comes down to those two places. My brother is married to a Sydney girl and really loves it, he has a dd the same age as my dd and so it will be nice to be close to them. Oh is a kiwi and we can have good access to Auckland where his parents are and a lot of his friends from uni ended up leaving Auckland and setting up in Sydney. We have been over a couple of times when we spent a year in NZ and like it, we are city people really although would like to retire somewhere a little more relaxed in Oz in the future (I'm only 28!).

    Good afternoon everyone,

dlb - Well done to your DS, and yes, we also won today (2 - 0) although DS didnt score today, but he did play really well!!!

Went into Plymouth and bought some more xmas pressies, only a couple of things left to get, wouldve liked to have got them today, but now my 2 are 8 and 10, you cant slip away and buy it without them noticing, so hopefully will get back in on Tuesday when the little one i look after is at nursery and then i will be finished!!!!
Now we are home, i just have to hang the clothes from the WM on the airer and whip the hoover around upstairs, then i can relax with a glass of the red stuff and Xfactor!!!! Had HM rolls, burgers and bacon for lunch, so not sure what we will be having for dinner, might just pick as i dont fancy cooking again!!!
Right, off to get my jobs done, so i can do nothing for the rest of the day, hope everyone has a lovely evening,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
