    Hello again,

Queenie, im sure i read somewhere that you shouldnt 'give up' smoking, you should decide to become a 'non smoker', not sure how it works (never smoked myself) but maybe psycology (sp) wise thinking you are a non smoker helps in some way!!!

Just got back from the doctors, and my lungs are now clear of infection, HURRAH!!!! I still have my cough, but she thinks its just the tail end now, so thats good. My platelet level last week was only 42, which isnt so good, but prob to be expected as i have been poorly.

Ive also realised its an anniversary of some sort for me today, 7 years ago i finally split from the worst thing that ever happened to me, apart from the 2 wonderful children we had together. Ive basically been on my own ever since (no one special anyway) but we (DS and DD) are happy, which is the main thing!!!! Makes me proud when i see how they are growing up, and how ive been able to set up my own little business, buy a house and be paying more off (thank you mortgage pig) as well as bringing up those 2 children, almost on my own (their dad doesnt even see them once a month anymore) and they are such a source of joy and happiness to me. Goodness, im feeling all tearful now, so better go and play with the little ones!!!
Hope no one minds me sharing that, but i really am thankful for what i have now, compared to back then!!!!
    Have a good day everyone
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

mrs_mix - one way I was able to compromise was to call in at the school at lunchtime. That was at the point where the anti-b's had kicked in and she wasn't in pain so couldn't justify her being off school, but still needed the meds. Another thing we did was ask that any pressing work be sent home with her older brother and we'd do it together at her own pace. That helped actually because it meant she wasn't kept out of the loop and didn't feel out of her depth when she did go back. Bonus for me too, because I understood more fully what she was doing
Only time I ever had a major problem was when my eldest lad got mumps and I couldn't get time off work (worked for a charity run by a voluntary committee and the snotty "Secretary" of the Assocn. said I needed to find someone to look after him as it was unacceptable to take time off for my child's illness. A friend of mine was between jobs so she offered to have him - it's unfortunate that she lived 12miles away and I had no transport, so he stayed with her for 4 days :(:(
The next day I went to work, the "secretary" asked after my son and I had to admit I'd not seen him and explained why - gosh if looks could kill! Couldn't do right for doing wrong
Ah, you live and learn! ;)

Hope she's better and you find a guilt-free compromise :):)

Yes :D:D Thank you. I know what you're saying, it was something squeaky and I were saying about phrasing things positively (positive affirmations and all that).

To be honest, I don't know why I'm struggling so much! I gave up in February and the first weeks were an absolute breeze compared to this time  Although when I did have a blip ... I ended up going back to smoking that time :o
I console myself that at least I haven't returned to the cancer sticks per se, but acknowledge that .... I'm struggling :o:o:o I'm lucky with P because as a friend who goes back 25yrs, she's pretty clued up with the way I am, my motivations/principles/values etc., couple that with her hypnotherapy and I'm optimistic that it will be the final push to the finish line that I seem to need. If all else fails ... she'll hex the annoying neighbours ;) :rotfl: :shhh:

Morning all! It's Friday WOOO HOOO!!!!!

No closer to getting a new job and the final day for this one is starting to feel very close!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE MISS NEAT!

    HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MELT71!

    Valentine x welcome and congratulations!

Petal what a horrible experience for you :(

Ageandjo that's terrible news, I hope you win the appeal.

BargainRZL I'm so pleased for you, finally at the end of what turned out to be a ridiculously long saga. I'm sure it's put you off ever considering moving again!

pigpen :( Hope you feel better soon.

Queenie You're doing so well, I'm glad to hear you're still working on staying off the cigarettes, I'm gutted I started again, I got such a horrible feeling of failure and seeing the disappointment in my friends and loved one's faces just made me feel >< this small.
My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

Sorry to hear about your problems, Topher. I can sympathise because when Im not on the pill I have horrendous periods. The build up of pms means I want to kill someone or smash the house up and then when my period starts I am like the walking dead and in a lot of pain. I have one week where Im fine and then it all starts again. The pill means that I just have a week with pms and then period pain and for 3 weeks im ok. I would still get the pms though, but now my antidepressants stop the pms. You ladies who have no trouble with your periods are so lucky!

I had a colleague at work who had periods that lasted about 3 weeks and was in a lot of pain. I think she had fibroids or endometriosis (are they the same thing?) and she saw a gynaecologist who was very unsympathetic and had the attitude that "you're a woman and thats that" (I saw one myself who had the same attitude to my pms) . She later saw a different and lovely gynaecologist who understood her pain and suffering almost as if he had suffered it himself! He went through the options with her and they decided to go ahead with a hysterectomy. She never looked back and it solved all her problems.

I think you need to find a doctor/gynaecologist who is sympathetic and understands what you are going through. He can guide you through all the different alternatives and come to a conclusion with you.

    Good luck!

Sorry everyone if this is not OS but I just wanted to reply to Topher's comments!

    Morning everyone :hello:

I'm off work today too. :( I feel exhausted and I just needed a day or so to recharge my batteries, before the final assault ;). I spoke to the union bloke last night and apparently I'm the second teacher in the school wanting to leave by the end of this term....... I just need to find out who the other one is. He reckons that I can be "out" by 30th November at the latest without there being much of a blot on my copybook. I feel so sorry for the children, but whilst I'm feeling this way, they're not exactly getting the best education - even though I'm trying my hardest to teach well in front of them.

I'm still in my dressing gown and I think that I may well disappear back to bed shortly. We've got the winter duvet on the bed, so it's lovely and snuggly. I would normally put the heating on, but probably when I go downstairs for lunch/afternoon tea .

    Bye for now

    Vicky

PS We're going for afternoon tea tomorrow at The Dorchester! Can't wait for such a nice treat......

I'm afraid I'm one of those ladies, but I sympathise with you Beachbeth and Topher - must be hell. All gynaecologists should be women, because even if they haven't experienced the same problems as their patients, they would be able to imagine what they're going through.

Happy birthday Little Miss Neat have a good one :)

Well I've got my weekend supply of wine, not from Tesco, but from the wine shop next to my butcher (a bit more expensive, but less money in Mr T's pocket;) ). Bought some bacon, chicken livers and sausagemeat from the butcher and whilst roootling through my purse found the £5 voucher they sent me when I ordered my Christmas goose :) I'd forgotten about it, so that was a nice surprise.

I've come back from the farmshop laden with Kidds Orange apples, Conference pears and Bramleys. They were offering the pears for tasting which was nice as I so often buy them and they don't ever ripen, or they go from rock-hard to mush in 5 minutes  These were delicious, will serve them for pud after the oxtail stew tonight.
I bought local cream, local honey and eggs and lots of veg as well.

OH has a job interview this evening which we're quite hopeful about, it will mean more money :j We overpay our mortgage repayments and it will be nice to put even more in and get it paid off early:beer: Still, mustn't count our chickens.

Right, must get on- beds to make, floors to hoover, clothes to iron before I can do the nice things - cooking and baking:)

    Morning all:hello:

Another cold one here in Liverpool :snow_grin I asked OH this morning if we could just cancel Friday and move straight onto Saturday, he just put the main light on and turned the radio up, then sent DD in to get me out of bed  Mind you I know why he has no sympathy, apparently the past few nights I've been snoring loudly enough to keep him awake until the early hours. :o The othernight I even told him to f off for disturbing me:eek: :o:o Think I need an early night with some of my herbal sleeping pills. Seems to be that no matter how much sleep I have, I'm still not rested the next day  I suspect I may have low iron levels so I've bought cabbage and spinach today to put into a stew  Couldn't afford the deep green cabbage so I'm hoping the spinach will help....plus DD asked me to buy some spinach

Anyways, thanks to an earlier post I remembered that I needed to check my creditcard balance and arrange a balance transfer (Egg card 0% ends on the 1st December) ony I cut my card up and threw it away and they needed the security number off the back :o Ended up ringing OH and asking him for the number on his card (he's a secondary card holder) and I have finally done the transfer.. now I have £1264 left to spend, minus the BT fee of 2.5% (capped at £49), and the car insurance is still to go on it :o I have the feeling we'll be scrapping every last penny together for the next couple of months :(

Better go and get on with some jobs.....

    Morning all.

Day off w**k today, so after dropping girls at school, nipped into town and had a spend up in Primark. Bought some more of the Satin Chinese style PJ's for their stockings, £4 a pair and they are beautiful and wash up really well. Although have to make sure they get these on Christmas Eve as I have just been reminded  so they look nice in the Christmas Day piccies. ;) Also, bought my mum a gorgeously fluffy dressing gown, baby pink with darker pink love hearts on for £10 and some fluffy socks in the same soft fabric.

There was a gorgeous prince of wales check winter coat in there for £20 and I was so tempted to treat myself, but it had 3/4 length sleeves. :( What good is 3/4 length sleeves in the Winter? Really disappointed. I did get myself a woollen 'baker boy' style hat £3, but I'm not sure. They look cute on the girls, but I think I look a bit silly in it. :o Also got some black leather gloves for £6. I LOVE PRIMARK so much! :T

Have the BM on - doing a cheese topped loaf. Also, WM, TD and DW on - appliance city in my house today - the electricity meter resembles a fan at the minute. Have 8 loads to do, which includes all bedding, towels and separate darks, whites and colours washes. It mounts up so quickly in the winter.

    Have a great day all.

  • Morning - just - all!. thanks for all my Birthday wishes. Having a very un-OS day today. DD was at morning school and DS is at nursery so I popped into town and did some retail therapy buying a new skirt and 2 tops. Came home to find the postie had delivered loads of cards and 2 Amazon packets (Christmas pressies) and a big parcel I orederd from the Book People (using a free p&p code from MSE!).

Have collected DD now and done one washing load - need to put it out.

MIL is looking after kids tonight and I am meeting DH in the city tonight and then we are going to the theatre and eating out.

    MELT71 Happy Anniversary!!

    VALENTINE Congratulations :T

PETAL OMG that's awful, I would have been scared stiff - we keep a cricket bat in our bedroom for such occasions.:o

AGEANDJO Hope your appeal goes ok. Red tape is a nightmare:mad:

PENELOPE PINCHER Coffee and walnut cake, eh? Sounds fab! Could just eatsome.;)

VICKYA So sorry about everything at work, just make sure that you have a good weekend. I know several people who have had tea at the Dorchester and they rave about it - apparently the best in London.

    Have a good day all.
