I have had a very inspiring day today.

I have been looking at the Christmas food today and realised how much I can make myself and how much money I will save this year compared to other years.
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:
I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.
  • Morning all! Where is everybody? When I'm at work, everyone's chatting away, and when I'm up early, I'm sitting here like Penny-no-mates!

Just off to fetch the thingy...............

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Back again :hello: .
    Happy Birthday Little Miss Neat!

    RZL, Hurrah for you!!

DH is home today :j :j Children off to school disco this evening, so think I'm off to the butcher for some steak, which we'll have with jackets, HG veg, and a bottle of red. (Note to self; make sure children have lift home.........) This doesn't sound too OS, but as DH dsays, in Taiwan, the food tends to have either to many or too few legs  Also, as he's been away, he's not been costing the household budget, so we can splash out.

DD is off to University today (she's 13 :D ). No, I'm not being smug :rotfl: our area of the country has a low uptake of university places so our closest has chosen children to target and is smoozing them from time to time, to encourage them to apply. There's a bus laid on, token for lunch, and best of all for her, though she needs to wear school uniform, she can wear trainers  This will mean the great fashion parade this morning deciding what to wear  She ( and her bro) are having friends for tea so I need to make bolognaise, HM garlic bread, and a pudding; something chocolate, I think.

Got my laptop back from Acer yesterday, and I was going to mention Acer on Heaven Sent. Not any more  It's come back after a week, and £50, and still doesn't work  They want another £50 to look at it again  It's only 55 weeks old  Can anyone spot how mad  I am???? I've sent an e-mail to trading standards, so will wait for their response.

Have a great Friday, everyone! Take some or all of  :bdaycake: :grouphug: :spam:

Hi there Penny NO-friends :D & all to follow,

My day hasn't worked out as planned and didn't get any painting done at all. Boo Hoo. :D DH forgot to buy the paint brushes. ;) I've got some great news to tell you all. I've booked our trip to the UK. :j:j We leave here on Feb 5th. It's taken us longer than we thought for us to get it all together but it's finally taking shape after lots of blood, sweat and tears.

Plans for tonight: Ring rellies in Scotland and pray I understand them as I find it very hard to do without seeing their lips move. :D

Off to have a surf before I start the ironing. Have put it off long enough. Going out for lunch tomorrow. It's BIL's *surprise" birthday lunch. Yum Yum chookies bum. Talk later. Byeeeeeeeeeeee

Happy Birthday Little Miss Neat. :) I'm sure PP didn't have that in her earlier post. I would have seen it.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Hi, Aussie, my only friend in the world...........

Yes, the birthday wishes were therefrom the start, but as you can see I've been editing that darned post for half an hour. Kept writing stuff and it disappeared. Maybe you're not supposed to use so many  in one post :D

Where will you be visiting in the UK? I'm sure some of us would love to meet you!

    Morning everyone
I'm up have been for a while just having a surf
dh of to w**k soon so will make his packed lunch and then do the boy's oones as well
have decided not to send dd back to school until Monday to give her a good chance to get over this bout of tonsilitis better usually I would send her back but after the last time when they forgot to give her her antibitics and not listening to her when she tried to tell them (she's 7) I'm a bit wary as it is she will still be taking the medicine next week anyway but should be much better by then so one missed dose won't be a huge problem it also means I will have a letter from the education welfare woman but then I can phone her and tell her whats been going on
Jobs for today might have a walk to lidl's and see whats on offer
    bm on for a loaf
    clean bathroom
    tidy dd bedroom
and I think thats it for now

    ((((hugs)))) to all

    pam

    edited to add

    Hi everyone,

I wasn't planning to post today as I'm off work (it's our anniversary) but the dog woke me up at 5  which is almost 3 hours earlier than I normally get up, but I can't get back to sleep so I thought I'd surf for a while. Then I'm off back to bed for a snooze :p

No OSing for me today I don't think as we are planning to have a pub lunch, although it's only a cheapy. I definitely do not intend to do any cleaning, I'll leave all that until tomorrow/Sunday. Hopefully we will find some bargains for my dd's birthday and for my xmas hampers.

Have a great day everyone :D and hugs to those that need them.

    Mel

  • Hello everyone,

I've finally plucked up the courage to join you all! I've been lurking for ages and you all sound so lovely so I hope you have room for a small one!

My hand has been somewhat forced to join you as my OH and I found out last night that I am newly pregnant! I've a feeling I'll need all this O/S advice and guidance soon! We have done 3 tests, but will be going to buy 'more reliable' ones today (can you hear the voice of a man in there?!?). As far as I'm aware, its impossible to get a false positive so I think we might be expecting! He is really pleased but we don't want to get our hopes up, just in case! If I am pregnant, any advice you guys can give me, will be lovely - what to eat/not eat, to tell people before 12 weeks - anything - help!!! I'll keep you updated on the news...

In terms of Old Style today, I'll be making a root vegetable stew tonight and might stick on a load or two of washing. I'm having to work tomorrow so won't be able to properly relax tonight. I'm hoping to get some cleaning and cooking and a small winter tidy of the garden done on Sunday - but I've a feeling I might be too sleepy!

Penelope Penguin - I hope you have a lovely evening with your DH - your meal sounds lovely.

AussieLass - I'm so pleased you are visiting Scotland! I've got lots of tips for you! Wanna come round for a cup of tea?

Mrs_Mix - I hope your daughter feels better soon - have fun at Lidls, let us know if there are any bargains?!

Melt71 - Happy Anniversary! I hope you both have a lovely day. Now back to bed and snuggle with your OH!

Oh well - can't sleep so plucked up the courage to post.

Lots of love to you all

    Valentine x
  • Valentine, Big Welcome and HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to you and your OH!
IME, false positive pregnancy tests are pretty rare. False negatives, on the other hand, are more usual.

As for pregnancy support, try the MSE Pregnancy Club. Loads of great advice and support.
