Hi everyone!
Well it's the turn of the gorgeous magenta today....more barbie pink in my book!!!
It is the most beautiful day down here today...there's a quality to the light this time of year that you just don't get in the summer. Probably something perfectly rational explanation like the lower position of the sun but hey it brings out the poetic Druid in me!!:D
Quick reality check...time to beam in and rejoin planet earth methinks.
Excitement tonight:j :j as we're off with my parents and my sis and niece to an organised bonfire and fireworks which my parents have treated us to. No cooking..just dodgy burgers and soup. Ah well.
Thanks to Moggins tip a few months ago I ordered the Studio42 catalogue. I need to get the small person one other Chrimbo present [was planning to try and find something tomorrow] His main interests are elephants and map which I've already covered present wise. However, he's also a huge Dennis the Menace fan and they've got a big wadge of Beano puzzle books down from £20 to £6 which even allowing for the postage still virtually meets the £10 limit I'd set:T :T
On the os front I've done a white wash and a huge tidy round/sort out. All the beds are stripped and OH helped me turn the mattress. Only got another couple of inches to knit and then my final scarf is finished and that's another tick off the Chrimbo pressie list. Hope to get a bit of baking done at the weekend...coconut buns with grated chocolate on top that I've got left over from Halloween.
Menu for this week is Sat - Turkey Nuggets
Sun- SC Goulash
Mon- veggie spag bol
Tues sardine burgers:o
Wed- HM pizza [using pitta breads for base]
Thurs- macaroni and broccoli cheese
Fri egg and chips
Also need to use up some spare stock and lurking veg for bottom of the fridge soup.
Read in the TWG last night that if you have a heated pad put it behind your back if you're sitting during the day at a desk ie not rushing around to hold off putting the heating on. OH is going to try it out today. Cheaper than the heating on I think!
Have a fantastic weekend- will report back in on Mon

tinkerbelluk wrote:Zed42 - Do you have the recipie for your chicken in white wine sauce as I've made a list of the things in my freezer this week and to be honest I think I could invite everyone around for dinner and I'd still have chicken breasts left!!!!
Oven went on at about 180 (fan assisted). This obviously could be done in the slow cooker, but I didn't think about it in time!
Chopped one onion up small
Chopped a couple of rashers of bacon roughly
Cut some thyme from the garden (but dried would be fine)
Softened the onions in some oil, lobbed in bacon, threw in the chicken and browned it off, added thyme and some mixed herbs, added HM veg and chicken stock, add wine to the stock before bringing to the boil, added a little cornflour, brought to boil briefly, and then put it in the oven for about an hour ..... when ready to serve, stirred in some cream, delish
.... served last night with baked spuds, carrots, mange tout and dwarf corn.
*Edited due to my own incompetence and forgot to add the wine ... thanks NelskiGC - March 2024 -0 -
Afternoon Guys!
Everyone seems very busy:D
Its so flippin cold:snow_laug ....cleaner (SIL) has been and done a good job.
OH had to go and pick DD from school as they announced this morning that today is a half dayOH has done some clearing and he has treated us to a lovely bit of steak for dinner from the posh butchers....I dont even want to know how much it cost:eek:   So instead now for dinner, we are having: Steak, HM Chips, Onion Rings, Coleslaw and salad;)
DD has a hair appointment at 4pm and she is having some slices of blonde put through.....I know shes only 11 (12 in December)....but I was always doing stuff at that age. She wants to look grown up for the wedding tomorrow:rolleyes:
Have been invited to a "female only" wine and cheese party tonight, but will see how I am. My friend said, even if I could make it half an hour it would be nice. DD really wants to go and I do have a spare bottle of wine and some stilton with apricot in the fridge...I just want to make sure Im ok for the wedding.
Nelski-Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hugs hun.
Hugs to all.

hi folks
:grouphug: to those who need em.. i certainly do... put christmas cake in last night, 6 and a half hours it was in at GM1... just taken it out of the tin and tried to peel the GP paper off and its still not cooked at the base. ARRGGH!
that means it'll have to go back in today.. *sighs*.. i just can't afford to buy the ingredients for another cake so its this or nothing.. i just hope it doesn't mess it up.
anyway while the oven is on bread will be rising, ready for bacon and egg butties tomorrow, and then i really need to get on with christmas pressies. I've been very lazy the last couple of days, really need to bash on with it.
have a good day everyone...

Well I've just made my Pumpkin Pie - what a mission! Don't think I'll make one again, despite it tasting yummy. Now, what to do the other 3/4 of the pumpkin...?We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0

What a day! I have terrible food poisioning! And there have been problems with exchange in that the top of the chain, have held everyone to ransom, that if we dont move on the day that they want then, they will pull out. We all want mid november and they want the 30th or nothing. Anyway, one peron is out of the country on the 30th so we have proposed the 29th, but they wouldnt even concede to that, they were still happy to pull out. Their house was downvalued by 10k and needed 10k of work and they wouldnt budge, and their buyers agreed to it! Some people are unreal!
Any way we have at last EXCHANGED :j
Good luck to everyone else on this journey!Pawpurrs x0 -
