    Hi everyone!
Happy birthday Chipps..not read the thread yet but hugs to those who need them.
Finally [after a week of saying I'll do it] I made my sloe vodka last night [just aswell the sloes were frozen]. Also strained my plum vodka [plums came from a friend's tree] and naturally as it was a bit of an experiment felt I really should sample it....all in the name of research! Lovely it was too and certainly improved the thrilling admin [and no that's not a euphemism for anything else!!] session OH and I had filling out pension forms and other gripping tasks.
Thought on the way to work this morning that I might have a go at making vanilla creams dipped in choc [I use vanilla extract] rather than peppermint creams for Chrimbo this year. Have to see how they turn out.
OS today has been putting out a load of washing, bedmaking, tidying and cleaning the bathroom. Also stocked up on some milk and veg. Tonight for tea it's pizza [half price offer in Mr T] as it's cubs and always a mad dash.
Shall be off to visit a friend tonight for a coffee and a catchup.
Having finished the TWG a couple of weeks ago I'm now reading Hugh Fearnley- Whittingstall's new book. Last night I picked up a recipe from it for Hash Browns...honest guv I did check the ingredient list very carefully but there wasn't a mention of potato or corned beef anywhere. Funny I don't recall ever seeing the primary ingredient on any shelf in any supermarket!!:D Now I wonder why?!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
    Have a most splendid day!

Of course it's a silly question for OSers!!!!:D

(No, it's not - there are no silly questions on here!)

It stands for Tightwad Gazette, which is a brilliant book (made up of 3 books, made up of several years worth of newsletters) about moneysaving, written by an American, Amy Dacyzyn (apparently pronounced "decision")
Well worth a read, by the way!

  • Hi everyone, I'm quite new to OS and the forums. I hope it's okay to post in here?

I was sent home from work today as my boss said I still look very unwell (waste of makeup today then) so I've been carrying on getting organised.

Yesterday I took a mixture of bleach and bicarb to my bathroom tiles and I cannot believe the difference it has made! I love my bathroom now :) Only half the job done I admit, going to crack on shortly. However I tried this on the kitchen tiles above the hob and it didn't have the same effect - any ideas?

I've made soup for the rest of the week and will start dinner soon, chicken/tomatoes/mushrooms thrown together, with rice or potatoes or maybe just bread, depends how much there is.

I've given OH a choice of jelly and ice cream (sorry, won't grow up) or chocolate cake, it's getting on a bit so I'm starting to think that was a bit of a mistake.

Anyway enough rambling and I hope all OS'ers are having a good afternoon :)

    Nice to see you.
For kitchen tiles try Stardrops and a microfibre cloth.
There is a whole thread on Stardrops on here.

Dds just about to come home and putting on the spaghetti for home made spag bol which is in the slow cooker.

    Afternoon All,

Congrats to Granny!!! A lovely new grandson to spoil rotten.

Have not been online for a couple of days, having a mega clearup at our place and have to date cleaned the understairs cupboard  the top of the kitchen cupboards, the kids rooms (including a rearranging of the DDs room and wardrobe!). Have also wrapped 114 presents for santas grotto at school!!!!

As a reward I've spent a lovely afternoon getting to know JOCKETTUK, we had tea/coffee and a nice chat about our lives/DH's and kids. My kids are now fed and are snuggling up together on the settee watching Belle on video. Jockett gave them lots of her DD's old vids and they think xmas has come early!!!

I have the BM on with a malted wholegrain loaf, the SC on with a vege curry and a LARGE coffee beside me. Was up loads last night with all the kids and to top it off DD1 wet not only her bed but then mine    so I've had bicarb/water mix on it today and its now drying in front of the rad in my room.

DH is away tonight, thursday and friday night so I am looking forward to being able to watch something interesting tonight (other than footie ;)).

    Love and hugs to all,
    Al.

    Hi

just been round to the pub with DH for a drink and some food. Was a revelation to be there not having to get little people to sit still and to eat something.

DH now gone to collect said little ones.

Was supposed to be helping DH paint the dining room today - I did an hour and a half! Oops. I then decided I HAD to clean the kitchen, and then I had to shower and get changed cos I was going to the hairdressers. oops.

He's done very well though and is on target. Should be finished by thursday evening.

My hair is lovely though - makes me realise how bad the rest of me is:eek: .

Need to stop baking so much - and stop eating stuff just cos I don't want it to go to waste. Right - healthy eating here I come (not that my cooking's unhealthy it's just I love food, and it loves me:rotfl: )
