    evening folks,

had a couple days where the ISP cut us off for "non payment" (when we had actually paid)... it seems that our standing order is lacking some info on it that helps identify us to the ISP so every so often the accounts people make the mistake of thinking we haven't paid... when we have.   its getting really annoying and OH is fed up with cycling down there.

OH is currently tucked up in bed. I think he's picked up a virus or something, and i'm coming down with it too - both have a head stuffed with cotton wool, very under the weather.. i'm just hoping i get a milder case of it and its a 24 hour thing because my parents are supposed to be coming on saturday to get the xmas cake/pud and my nan's christmas present (gift basket with mug/hotchoc sachets, capuccino sachets, fruit teas, chocolates in, and a vanity bag with rice bags in it, all wrapped in a big box). I've also been decorating xmas cards for the family... so been a busy bee all in all. still lots more to do though between now and christmas. [the links take you to photos of all my handiwork.]

for tonight though, i'm taking it easy. Not sure what dinner is - OH's stomach is feeling dodgy so might just do some simple soup, or if he doesn't want anything at all, might do sausage egg and chips for me or something. we'll see.

hope everyone has a good evening!

    Evening everyone :hello:

Sorry I haven't posted for a while, but I've been busy sorting out what I'm going to do with life...........

I've asked to be released from my contract at school and I should leave by 30th November. The head appreciated my decision and said that a school in Special Measures (especially that one) is no place for an NQT. They haven't been able to support me properly (she actually said that!!!), but she'll give me a good reference and should I find a job that I'm interested in then to give her a call and she'll try to put in a good word for me, as she knows a network of heads through consultancy work last year. :j :j I feel SO much better in myself since I asked to be released. I'm almost happy! My union magazine turned up yesterday......... with an article in it about being let down in a first school thanks to the school going into Special Measures! And how the person got out the other side!

DH has been really good about it and we're now talking about going travelling together. Watch out Aussielass! We'll be heading out to Oz for some of the time..... :D:D:D

Anyway, I've got plenty of things to do. Supper tonight is hm carrot and coriander soup, which was made by DH ages ago. We've got some green olive ciabatta to go with it that was from the yellow sticker section of Mr Tesco! :p

    Bye for now!

    Vicky

Sorry to hear what has happened to you Vicky. I teach and can't see why special measures has meant the school can't support you. I'm glad you have managed to get out of the situation...take care and hope all goes well for future employment/travelling
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

Well, I passed the first two terms with flying colours. Then we got a new head, who decided that my mentor wasn't good enough and because of what happened to my mentor, no one was prepared to take the role of my mentor on! Plus the fact that the new head has discovered that the "school is in a mess" and the previous head was "winging it" for however long he was there. (this is what I've got from reading between the lines)

Tragically, from speaking to my support mentor at county level, I am DEFINITELY not the only one in this situation. Nothing to do with our ability to teach, and everything to do with the shocking state of the schools in the town where I teach. 3 junior schools have been Ofsteded this year in the town and 3 have gone into Special Measures......... I'm out of there!

    Good evening everyone,

Vicky - glad you have made a decision, and hope you find a good school (once you get back from your travels!!!)

Kyle - my DD had big probs with constipation the other day, it was heartbreaking seeing her in so much pain, so took her to the doctor, who after chatting to both of us about diet etc said that the problem would be dehydration, so she now takes extra drinks to school and she only needed a couple of doses of medicine before everything was ok again. Do need to keep on at her tho, to make sure she does drink!!!!

Had a nice day with the little ones, didnt get much done, but had a nice time playing with them!!!
This evening, i made chicken and bacon with tomatos and white wine, and it was really scrummy!!! The children loved it too, so thats good, We then made decorations for the xmas cake, and im mighty proud of it, even if i say so myself, and my 2 loved making things out of the icing and marzipan!!!
Right, going to finish my drink (the last of the white wine!!!) and catch the end of im a celeb.
Hope everyone has a lovely evening
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Vicky, big HUGS for you! Hope you can begin to get on with sorting your life out now.

Edit, Sured, you take a hug, too, hun.

I've come back from choir, where we were practicing carols, so I'm sat in the kitchen with a glass of red, feeling very festive!

DS is complaining of a recurrent problem, so I'm off to see if I can get him into the doctor tomorrow.

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17th november. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning all :hello:

I woke up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep

    Hope you're all well :D
