  • Morning all,

 That dam dog over the wall hasn't stopped barking since I got up & O/H didn't arrive home till 4.30am this morning so is still in bed and has to be back at work for lunchtime. I can feel my blood boiling! Ok rant over.

    Welcome to the new faces:wave:

Can't stop, need to pop into town and pick up my black trouser from the dry cleaners, friends mums funeral tomorrow and then onto the market to get the fish for evening meal. Hugh pile of ironing to wade through then the kids are at the dentist for a check up.

    Hugs to all,

Morning all! Been another bad week with my grandad in a car accident and now he's vehicle-less so I'll be spending a fair bit of time driving him places.

I have 3 interviews in the next three days so it's going to be stressful this week. Although with any luck a new job could be the result. I was up late last night completing application forms and actually

NEED TO VENT!!!! - why is it companies bother advertising positions and don't state a salary, it just wastes my time filling in an appication form and their time reading it. If I'd known they were paying £6K less than I'm currently on we could have saved all that bother!

Anyway (((HUGS))) to all. hope others are more chilled out than me today!

Morning all, hugs to those who need them. I hope you all have a productive and happy day.

Not much OS for me today, I'm in work but my foot is still swelling up when I stand on it for too long so I won't be doing much cleaning tonight or OH will get annoyed with me (he keeps telling me to put frozen veg on it but I can't be bothered! :p ).

Feeling a bit fed up at the moment, must be the miserable weather, so I haven't really got much else to say  but I hope I'll be back to normal tomorrow.

Well yesterday did not end on a high note either.......water board packed up at 3pm, they cannot find where the water supply pipe comes onto our land, so the filled in the holes and left....... we now await another visit from ST.

OH had an attack of syncope so ended up in bed, I had to retire as well incase he passed out, he is ok this morning but I am like a wet rag......

We were expecting a visitor this morning but she has cried off, so as I need to visit Mr Tesco, OH says he is coming with me, so hope he is ok.....

off for a :coffee: before I go out.

  • Morning :hello:

Thanks for the (((hugs))) last night.

Long-serving OSers will know that my grandma has been "on her deathbed" on more than one occasion in the past, but has always pulled through. However, whereas in the past it's always been due to a specific illness, it does sound as though on this occasion she's simply "fading fast" without anything especially being the problem other than the fact that she is 89 and now completely incapable of doing anything for herself after several minor strokes and a slow-growing tumour on her spinal cord.

As for the cat, well, I'll find out when I get home whether my housemate has had good news or bad from the vet.

I can't help but think about the irony of the situation, really - if grandma was a cat, she would have been put out of her misery a good couple of years ago :( I remember how active she used to be, and I know she hated the idea of ever being bedridden and incapacitated.

Anyway I suppose it is not worth dwelling on things until they actually happen.

Must go in a moment; lots of work to do. Got the removal man coming around this evening after cancelling yesterday, so I'm hoping I still have time after work to call into TK Maxx and see if they have any of those bargain goose-feather duvets PP tipped me off about last week. Thanks again, incidentally, to the poster who PM'd me offering to sell me a good-quality unused duvet at a good price, however it was a king-size and I did in the end decide on a standard double bed. Didn't get round to any Freecycle listings last night, so will try to get that sorted this evening; I've also got a gigantic pile of laundry which needs doing. I am also imposing an alcohol ban on myself for the next few days - "just one glass of wine" has a tendency to turn into the rest of the bottle, which means I then can't be @rsed to do anything productive for the rest of the evening :o

Couldn't agree more about the lack of salary information in job ads, Mirakl. It's particularly annoying in internal vacancies, when you know that if it IS classed as a higher-paid position than the one you're currently doing, then they won't offer you the full extent of the salary range, they'll just slap an extra £2k on top of what you're on at the moment and you can take it or leave it

    See you later

  • Morning everyone. Just sat here with a coffee catching up. DD at morning school and DS at nursery. I've been to the gym and had agreat workout and steam session afterwards - feel ready for the day now. WM done one load (in dryer now) and need to put another one on.

    Hello AMIE and VIVW
    Congratulations TINKERBELLUK
    Good luck GINGHAM RIBBON

Dinner tonight is leftover lasagne for me and I will make some tomato pasta for the kids, both with HM bread. DH is out with work tonight so I am presuming he is eating out, otherwise he can take his pick of lasagne or pasta.
Think we will go swimming this afternoon if DD isn't too sniffly. Am in two minds though cos DS has his second MMR tomorrow so don't want him to come down sniffly before that.

    Have a good day!

    Morning all! :hello:

Penny Watcher - I know what you mean about your DD. Mine has been told to bring her PE kit home EVERY Friday...three weeks on the run now she's left it in school. It'll walk out on it's own on Friday and throw itself under a car probably :rotfl: Yesterday going INTO school she left me standing outside her classroom door with her reading folder and didn't say goodbye  Her teacher took the reading folder off me and then DD on her way into school this morning tells me "I miss you when I'm at school" so that made up for it

GR - Good luck at the hospital. Hope everything okay ;)

Tinkerbelluk - Congrats on the job :j

    BarginRzl - (((hug)))

I am sooooo exhausted  I have no idea why so I'm going to try and incorporate some Spinach in our tea tonight to see if my iron levels are low. Mind you, it's suppose to be "date night" :rotfl:Thats a night when OH and I have agreed "NO TV OR INTERNET" ...considering his car insurance expires at middnight tomorrow and he needs to renew it, plus I have piles of ebay stuff I need to type up I somehow cannot see Date Night happening tonight :rotfl::rotfl:

So far today WMx2 (1 more to do when the current one is finished :j ), washing up (except for a pan which needs soaking) is done and the hob is currently "soaking" in some diluted Star Drop as it was a state. Will give it another spray in a minute to make up for anything that might have evaporated ;) Beds are made, house is tidy and I'm going to attach the ebay pile when I've finished here.

Last night I started work on redecorating DD's doll house from ELC. Some time last week (or was it earlier than that? ) I took it apart and hid it, leaving a note from "Santa" saying he'd borrowed it to try and help him sort out a problem he is having with the elves ;) DD is soooooooo excited at the thought :rotfl: My plan is to rub it down (nearly there, just 5 pieces to go), repaint it, decorate each room with little curtains, flooring, and some little pictures on the walls etc, like a proper little house. Also I plan on decorating some of the furniture with some woodstain I have, and some pieces might be painted ;) Then on Christmas Eve once she's in bed "Santa" is going to deliver it AND her new desk after moving the armchair as there won't be room otherwise :rotfl:I can't wait, never mind DD :j:j:j

Right, need to get on with ebay

I just returned from a great trip to Dubai, family loved it too. Saw and met new company and employees and now feel much better and secure in my new job here - after having earlier doubts! My boss really gave us the VIP treatment, so well looked after. Beach was lovely, sea a warm 30 degrees and hotel fab. Lots of building work going on in Dubai though but still did not deter from having a good time at all. Went on one of those desert safaris!!! kids found abit scarey, but DH and I loved it, also had one of those henna tatoos done!:D Still recovering from the time delay - kids keep waking up at 5am:eek:

OH - and I still DONT have any internet connection at home thanks to Talk Talk!!!!! Can you believe it!!!!! At least i have my work connection so i can communicate now!

Hope everyone has a good Tuesday
  • Morning all :hello:
Hope everyone is well, I haven't had time to read everything yet.

Been busy in the kitchen. Have made 4 dozen peach and blueberry muffins and 4 dozen flapjacks. Also made some veg stock out of the green tops of leeks and parsley stalks. Am boiling up some elderberries that have been in the freezer for a while. Cooking them with sugar and some ginger for making hot drinks for people with coughs and colds.

Am very into 'using every scrap' in the kitchen at the moment. Have started keeping a journal of my thrifty kitchen adventures (I know I should get out more:rotfl: ).
