Cup_Cake's Debt Free Journey...

  • Evening MSE'ers,

Again I haven't posted for a little while, naughty naughty...

I've updated my signature so that now reflects my current situation.
So I spent £32.50 on the meal the other day so money is double tight at the moment. I won't really feel the hit until the end of the month as I had no other choice but to take it from the rest of the month budget.
I'm also meeting a friend for tea tomorrow night, this should cost around £12.
I have around £25 in my purse so after tea tomorrow and bus fare I should have some change for my pot.

It took all my will power yesterday not to book a cheap last minute holiday. There is no such thing as a cheap holiday which we found out when we spend £500 on a 3 day trip to Spain in 2009, eek.
Someone please tell me not to do it! I just had a weak moment and craved some sun, one does get fed up of having skin that resembles a pasty chicken.

I also started my new job today which I loooved!
I've been feeling a little down as of late so looking forward to work might just be the perk up that I need.
I don't know why i'm feeling down. I just look at my signature and see that not only have I not paid anything off but i've actually managed to add to my debts. DB's payday can't come quick enough!

Speaking of, DB has an interview but it's for a job 200 miles away so there are many reservations. We've been talking and we think there are just too many negatives to the job. Quite shocking coming from 2 people who planned on moving over to Australia in the not too distant future. Needless to say this is no longer our plan.

I will post again tomorrow night with the plans for next weeks budget which starts on Wednesday.
I hope everyone is well, Cup_Cake xx

Thanks KP, i'll hopefully get the hang of it soon. I had masses of enthusiasm to begin with but as it does with everything it withered away a little over time.

I've been a little naughty. I bought an exercise bike last night and a new jumper. DB and I are going halves on the bike so £40 each (which has gone on the credit card) and £20 on the hoodie which has also gone on the credit card.

Anyway onwards and upwards,it's a new money week today so here goes.
    Money as is:
    £46.15 - Spends
    £44.70 - Groceries
Spends for rest of month - £200 (2 weeks)
    21 days until payday!

I had £10 last over from last month so only needed to withdraw £90 this week. However I did spend £30 on the meal out which went on the card and I was £23 short this month as well so I need to be extra careful now to somehow claw back £43 over this week and the next 2 weeks. Eek!

My spends have gone on bus fare this morning. Due to a change in car share schedule I will now need to get the bus every morning which means £21 per week on travel . I'm going to enquire about a monthly bus pass which might save me a little money.

Grocery spends have gone on some veg for last night, strawberries for dessert yesterday and soup for DB's dinners. Also some face cream which I ran completely out of but its not my usual stuff and it makes my face feel really greasy yak! May need to buy some more for my face, the one I bought yesterday is fine for the rest of my body so not a total waste.

I've had to buy lunch today as I left my lunch in the back of DB's car yesterday but it was only £1.50 so not a massive spend there.
Not sure whats for tea but I can't really be bothered cooking so it will be something quick.

    Plans for the week:
    - My friend is coming over on Thursday evening as its her birthday at the weekend so we're going to get a takeaway (hopefully a cheap one).
    - DB and I are going to the cinema and out for a meal on Friday night to celebrate him getting paid.
No other expensive plans this week.

On a positive note, DB gets paid on Friday which finally means some off the debts :T about time.

Off to update sig with my naughty spends and find out about the bus pass.
Hope everyone is well, (sorry for the mammoth post, if you made it through)

Gosh where has this week gone?!?

Spends are looking tight this week so i'm going to have to save everything for bus fare. Groceries are still looking ok although not great.

Yesterday I got my birthday money (which isn't for another few months) but as previously mentioned its a milestone birthday so all the family recevie/have received £1000.
That's nicely sat in my savings account to book a holiday later on in the year.
I know I could quite easily pay off most of my debts with it but I want to make sure I can say I used it for something special and not just to pay off my debts.

I also found out I will be receiving a bonus in next months payday. This should be around £750. I need to decide what i'm going to do with this. Again I would ideally like to save this for the holiday but we'll see when I receive it.

DB will get paid sometime next week so I can start to pay off some debts.
I am going to pay off the 2nd overdraft first as this is the smallest and im paying the same amount of interest on this as I am on the first overdraft which is 3 times more.
I'm going to get my hair done with the leftover money and i've been thinking and im going to buy myself some new t-shirts for work as ive started my new job and im absolutely desperate for some new shirts to look more professional.

Right im going to update my signature with my savings, wow theres a first!

I hope everyones well, Cup_Cake xx

    Morning all,

Oooh it's lovely to see some savings. I know the debts far outweigh the savings but its still nice to know that if anything was to happen we would have the money to back us up.

I've set myself a budget of £100 to buy some things for work to stop me looking so drab.
    I need the following:
    - Boots
    - Coat (although may wait until summer and get a thinner coat)
    - Socks
    - Work t-shirts

Yesterday I bought some boots, some socks and 3 casual t-shirts which came to £30. I have a budget of £70 not to buy myself some posh(ish) work shirts. This is far more than I would normally spend of clothes but I want to make a good impression and I would like the clothes to last a long time.

Bad news for today. I put the exercise bike up yesterday and the pedal broke off. It was totally my fault as I put it on the wrong way around but we've managed to order a new one (free of charge thankfully) so that should arrive on Wednesday.

I'm out today with my lovely mum and DB is out with his buddies. Tea tonight will be chicken stir fry which we have the ingredients for.

I have quite a busy week next week,
    - Wednesday: 2 4 1 cinema with DB
    - Thursday or Friday: Out for a birthday meal with my friend.
    - Saturday: Friends coming over for home made cocktails.

Im just hoping I can manage all this on my weekly budget as I really need to be good next week!

Anyway must go and get dressed
    Hope everyones well, Cup_Cake xx

Not really a thing for summer for me, my clothes are old and drab and with me starting a new job I want to make a good impression.

It seems to be the thing that has to get put on hold when money saving isn't it?!? Although it's worth spending a little bit as its nice to feel good.

Yes I did see, I can't believe some people!

They obviously just dont have anything better to do than to say nasty things about their workmates. Just ignore them, you are the bigger person for not saying things that im sure you're thinking about them (2 faced ******).
Besides you can change your clothes, they'll always be nasty barstewards!!

Keep smiling, theyre not worth it! xxx
